Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018 Jeep Renegade, Compass and Grand Cherokee, RAM 1500 and Promaster, Fiat 500x, Dodge Journey, Challenger, Charger and Durango and Chrysler 300x vehicles, 2017-2018 Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country vehicles and 2018-2019 Jeep Cherokee and 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid vehicles. The powertrain control module may be equipped with a voltage regulator chip in the circuit board that may fail, causing a stall or a no start condition.

ON NOVEMBER 27, 2018, I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING MIDWAY THRU THE TURN. I WAS ALMOST IN A CRASH. I GOT THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. I STARTED THE ENGINE. YOU COULD NOT HEAR IT RUNNING BUT THE RPM GAUGE REGISTERD AROUN 5-500 RPM. I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND IT BEGAN TO RUN. I CALL THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND THE SOONEST I COULD GET TO THE DEALER WAS THE 29TH. I DELIVERED THE CAR TO THE DEALER EARLY ON THE 29TH. THE DEAL CALLED ME AROUND 5:30 PM THE SAME DAY TO EXPLAIN THE CAR WAS LOW ON OIL AND THIS CAUSED THE CAR TO SHUT OFF. THEY ASKED ME TO DO A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. I RETURNED THE CAR ON DECEMBER THE 7. I STARTED THE CAR THAT MORNING AND IT SOUNDED LIKE THE CAR HAD NO OIL IT WHILE IT WAS RUNNING. THE DEALER KEPT THE CAR FOR 10-15 MIN AND RETURNED IT TO ME AND TOLD ME IT WAS FINE. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THE OIL WAS LOW. SINCE THEN I SPOKE TO AJ AT THE DEALER AND HE TOLD ME THE CAR WAS THREE QUARTS LOW ON OIL WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN ON DECEMBER 27TH. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE FOR THE VEHICLE WHEN THE OIL GETS LOW. I HAVE HAD ALL SERVICE DONE AT THE DEALER. I DO NOT TRUST THIS VEHICLE. THIS IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE KILLED.

I STARTED THE CAR THAT MORNING AND IT SOUNDED LIKE THE CAR HAD NO OIL IT WHILE IT WAS RUNNING. THE DEALER KEPT THE CAR FOR 10-15 MIN AND RETURNED IT TO ME AND TOLD ME IT WAS FINE. I GOT THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. I STARTED THE ENGINE. YOU COULD NOT HEAR IT RUNNING BUT THE RPM GAUGE REGISTERD AROUN 5-500 RPM. LAST WEEK (END OF NOVEMBER 2018) CONSUMER WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND STOPPED AT AN INDIVIDUALS HOME TO PICK THEM UP WHEN THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WITH THE STOP/START SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. CONSUMER TURNED OFF VEHICLE AND RESTARTED THE CAR; LIGHT WENT OFF AND CAR RAN AS NORMAL. CONSUMER WAS DRIVING THE CAR TODAY 12/5/2018 WHEN STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT THE CAR STALLED AND RESTARTED, PUTTING IT INTO A "POWER SAVING MODE" WHERE THE RADIO DID NOT WORK AND PARKING BREAK LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH TRANSMISSION LIGHT, AND START/ STOP LIGHT. UPON GETTING THE CAR TO THE DESTINATION (HALF A MILE) THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. CONSUMER TURNED OFF CAR AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN IT BACK ON. CAR INSTRUMENTS TURNED ON; HOWEVER, WOULD WAS OBSERVED CLICKING AND WOULD NOT TURN OVER. THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT IS STILL ON AND THE START/STOP IS ILLUMINATED. I HAVE READ MANY OF THE "COMPLAINTS" FOR THIS VEHICLE AND THEY ARE CONSISTENT WITH THE SAME THINGS I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING.

THE ENGINE THEN SHUTS DOWN WITH NO WARNING. NO BRAKE LIGHTS WHICH MAKES THIS EXTREMELY UNSAFE FOR THE POTENTIAL OF A REAR END CRASH.
