Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018 Jeep Renegade, Compass and Grand Cherokee, RAM 1500 and Promaster, Fiat 500x, Dodge Journey, Challenger, Charger and Durango and Chrysler 300x vehicles, 2017-2018 Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country vehicles and 2018-2019 Jeep Cherokee and 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid vehicles. The powertrain control module may be equipped with a voltage regulator chip in the circuit board that may fail, causing a stall or a no start condition.

Potential Risk:
A vehicle stall can increase the risk of a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began October 2, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U87.

Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Dodge Grand Caravan and Jeep Compass, 2018 Dodge Journey, and 2019 Jeep Cherokee vehicles. The rear brake caliper pistons on these vehicles may have an insufficient coating causing gas pockets to form, potentially reducing rear brake performance.

Potential Risk:
A reduction of braking performance can increase the risk of a crash.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018 Jeep Compass vehicles. The front lower control arms may be incorrectly welded, potentially resulting in a control arm separation.

Potential Risk:
If the lower control arm separates, it can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018 Jeep Compass vehicles. The passenger side air bag assembly may have inflator mounting nuts loose within the module assembly.

Potential Risk:
In the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, unsecured inflator mounting nuts outside of the cushion assembly are potential projectiles that may strike the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
FREE Recall Solution:

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2017-2018 Jeep Compass vehicles. The brightness of the backlighting for the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) cannot be adjusted. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Controls and Displays."

Potential Risk:
An instrument cluster that is too bright, and cannot be dimmed, can reduce the driver's ability to see at night, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:

ALSO, THE JEEP SOMETIMES JERK WHEN I TAKE OFF AND EVEN SWERVE OVER TO THE LANE LEFT OF ME WHEN I'M DRIVING IN THE FREEWAY. I HAVE MENTIONED THESE THINGS TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT NOTHING BACK YET. ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED. HAD MY JEEP AT THE DEALER YESTERDAY, FOR ANOTHER OIL CHANGE, ABOUT 2000 MILES BEFORE I WAS DUE. THE LAST OIL CHANGE WAS AROUND 9500 MILES. THEY SAID, THERE WAS NO OIL IN MY CAR WHEN HE CHECKED. IT HAS JUST UNDER 13,000 MILES ON IT AND FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 5 DAYS, THE ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. SO I HAVE NOW ALMOST GOTTEN REAR-ENDED TWICE. I HAVE TO DRIFT TO THE SIDE, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, SHUT IT OFF ENTIRELY, THEN RESTART, YESTERDAY IT TOOK 3 TRIES TO GET IT TO RESTART. I WAS TOLD, I NEED TO DRIVE ANOTHER 2000 MILES AND COME BACK SO THEY CAN CHECK MY DIP STICK, WHICH THEY MARKED YESTERDAY. IRONICALLY WHILE I WAS CHECKING OUT, THERE WAS A WOMAN THERE, PICKING UP HER COMPASS FROM THEM AFTER A WEEK, BECAUSE THEY WERE REPLACING HER ENGINE. EARLIER THIS MONTH I WAS TALKING TO A FAMILY FRIEND. HER COMPASS HAD JUST COME BACK FROM THE SAME DEALER, AFTER HAVING THE ENGINE REPLACED FOR THE SAME THING. SO WHY, AM I STILL HAVING TO DRIVE A CAR, WHEN THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE? FROM READING OTHER COMPLAINTS, SOUNDS LIKE SOME HAVE NOT HAD AS EASY OF A PULL OFF AS HAVE AND ARE STUCK IN HARMS WAY WHEN IT HAPPENS TO THEM. IS IT GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE DYING FOR THIS ISSUE TO BECOME A RECALL??

WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED. HAD MY JEEP AT THE DEALER YESTERDAY, FOR ANOTHER OIL CHANGE, ABOUT 2000 MILES BEFORE I WAS DUE. THE LAST OIL CHANGE WAS AROUND 9500 MILES. THEY SAID, THERE WAS NO OIL IN MY CAR WHEN HE CHECKED. IT HAS JUST UNDER 13,000 MILES ON IT AND FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 5 DAYS, THE ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. SO I HAVE NOW ALMOST GOTTEN REAR-ENDED TWICE. I HAVE TO DRIFT TO THE SIDE, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, SHUT IT OFF ENTIRELY, THEN RESTART, YESTERDAY IT TOOK 3 TRIES TO GET IT TO RESTART. I WAS TOLD, I NEED TO DRIVE ANOTHER 2000 MILES AND COME BACK SO THEY CAN CHECK MY DIP STICK, WHICH THEY MARKED YESTERDAY. IRONICALLY WHILE I WAS CHECKING OUT, THERE WAS A WOMAN THERE, PICKING UP HER COMPASS FROM THEM AFTER A WEEK, BECAUSE THEY WERE REPLACING HER ENGINE. EARLIER THIS MONTH I WAS TALKING TO A FAMILY FRIEND. HER COMPASS HAD JUST COME BACK FROM THE SAME DEALER, AFTER HAVING THE ENGINE REPLACED FOR THE SAME THING. SO WHY, AM I STILL HAVING TO DRIVE A CAR, WHEN THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE? CONSUMER STATED IT WAS AROUND 8,000 MILES, IT STALLED DRIVING ON A THRUWAY IN NEW YORK TRAFFIC, PARKING BREAK ENGAGED AND IT CAME TO FULL STOP, HAD TO DEPRESS BRAKE AND RESTART CAR. MY JEEP HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR A WEEK WHILE THEY FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. THEY SAID THE OIL IS NOT PUMPING OUT. AT MY LAST OIL CHANGE THEY SAID THE JEEP IS BURNING OIL LIKE CRAZY WITH NO WARNING ABOUT LOW OIL. IT HAS 13,000 MILES ON IT AND ALSO INTERMITTENTLY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING,I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND THE PARKING BREAK ENGAGES. THEN RESTART IT, IT ALSO INTERMITTENTLY WON'T START AT ALL. THEN AFTER A FEW HOURS IT WILL START BUT RUNS REALLY ROUGH. ANOTHER ISSUE IS WITH WHAT SOUNDS LIKE THE SUSPENSION IN THE FRONT RIGHT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE ELECTRICAL IS NOT STABLE. IN MULTIPLE INSTANCES MY VEHICLE LIGHTS AND POWER HAVE GONE IN AND OUT WHILE IDLE AND DRIVING. IT SLOWS DOWN MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY. I HAVE HEARD A LOT ABOUT TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE ISSUES WITH THE NEWER JEEPS BUT I DIDN'T THINK THIS WOULD HAPPEN TO ME. I DON'T THINK MY VEHICLE IS SAFE AND WOULD LIKE A MORE PROFESSIONAL INPUT SINCE THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM IS NEVER AVAILABLE TO ASSIST.
