Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018 Jeep Renegade, Compass and Grand Cherokee, RAM 1500 and Promaster, Fiat 500x, Dodge Journey, Challenger, Charger and Durango and Chrysler 300x vehicles, 2017-2018 Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country vehicles and 2018-2019 Jeep Cherokee and 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid vehicles. The powertrain control module may be equipped with a voltage regulator chip in the circuit board that may fail, causing a stall or a no start condition.

Potential Risk:
A vehicle stall can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began October 2, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U87.

Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Dodge Grand Caravan and Jeep Compass, 2018 Dodge Journey, and 2019 Jeep Cherokee vehicles. The rear brake caliper pistons on these vehicles may have an insufficient coating causing gas pockets to form, potentially reducing rear brake performance.

Potential Risk:
A reduction of braking performance can increase the risk of a crash.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018 Jeep Compass vehicles. The front lower control arms may be incorrectly welded, potentially resulting in a control arm separation.

Potential Risk:
If the lower control arm separates, it can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018 Jeep Compass vehicles. The passenger side air bag assembly may have inflator mounting nuts loose within the module assembly.

Potential Risk:
In the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, unsecured inflator mounting nuts outside of the cushion assembly are potential projectiles that may strike the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
FREE Recall Solution:

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2017-2018 Jeep Compass vehicles. The brightness of the backlighting for the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) cannot be adjusted. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Controls and Displays."

Potential Risk:
An instrument cluster that is too bright, and cannot be dimmed, can reduce the driver's ability to see at night, increasing the risk of a crash.

I STOPPED AT THE STOP LIGHT AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WITH THE NORMAL FUNCTION OF AUTO START/STOP BUT WHEN I TOOK FOOT OF THE BRAKE THE CAR STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. AFTER WHICH THERE WAS LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND THE PARKING BRAKE WOULD STAY ENGAGED. THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING MADE IT REALLY DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD TO SAFETY.

I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON A CITY STREET AT 45 MILES AN HOUR WHEN THE ENGINE TURNED OFF WITH NO WARNING. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP WHEN THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF AND COASTED THE PARKING BREAK ENGAGED AT 15 MILES AN HOUR FORCING ME TO HARD BREAK AND ALMOST GET REAR ENDED WITH CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A SAFETY FEATURE FOR THE JEEP FOR THE ENGINE TO SHUT OFF WHEN THE OIL IS LOW. THE DEALERSHIP IS CLAIMING THAT IT'S WITH IN CHRYSLER'S SPECS THAT THIS ENGINE (2.4 MULTI-AIR 9 SPEED) CAN BURN 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY THOUSAND MILES. THIS JEEP ONLY HAS 3,043 MILE ON IT. IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR ENGINES TO SHUT OFF WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED IT CAN CAUSE SERIOUS HARM AND POSSIBLE DEATH IN A COLLISION. BOTH OF THE JEEP DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER REFUSED TO REMEDY THE SITUATION. THEY ARE FORCING ME TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST REGARDLESS OF THE SAFETY ISSUES. *DT CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHTS AND NO CHIME BEFORE, DURING OR AFTER THE VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING. THEY STOPPED THE RATTLE BUT BRAKES ARE A HUGE ISSUE. NO MATTER HOW LIGHT YOU TAP THEM THEY LOCK UP. WHEN THEY ARE WET IT IS UNDRIVABLE. ALSO ENGINE REVS UP FOR NO REASON AND THE ENGINE KILL THING DOES NOT WORK RIGHT. ITS NOT INSTANTANEOUS. LOTS OF LAG BEFORE YOU CAN MOVE.. WE HAVE BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER RIGHT AFTER WE BOUGHT IT TO TRY TO TRADE IT FOR ANOTHER ONE BUT NO LUCK. I SHOULD HAVE WALKED AWAY WHEN IT WAS MAKING THE NOISE WHEN I MOVED IT ON THE LOT. SPECIALLY AFTER THE WAY WE WERE TREATED BY THE GUY WHO DID THE PAPERWORK WHEN WE DECLINED THE EXTRA WARRANTY. IF HE HADNT BEEN A VET I WOULDVE WALKED AWAY. THE DEALER HAS RECORDS OF REPAIRS THEY TRIED TO MAKE.THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN BAD SINCE WE BOUGHT IT AND THE REST HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A COULPA MONTHS NOW.
