Potential Consequences:

Exhaust manifold leak at less than 25,000 miles in a 2022 model year truck. This continues to be a problem with Ram, not offering extended warranty coverage and is affecting many vehicles with the 5.7 hemi engine, leaking to carbon monoxide risks, repair costs, increased emissions, etc. why Ram hasn’t been forced to address this preemptively especially since it can ruin the catalytic converter, release dangerous emissions, on top of the well known camshaft issues affecting numerous engines.. they’re getting away with manufacturing a defect product while nobody holds them accountable. While my repair is currently covered under warranty, I am without my vehicle until it is done. Others are even more unlucky paying out of pocket or in the case of most people nowadays, incurring an expense they can’t afford because of a defective design

My truck is subject to a safety recall for the high pressure oil pump. Campaign 01A/23V-263. I took the truck in for the repair in December 2023. I was told that the parts were not available, and that the dealer would call me when the parts became available. No one contacted me, so I contacted Ram in March 2024. I was told that the parts still were not available, and that the dealer would call when the parts become available. As of today, August 23, 2024, I still have not been contacted and the repair has not been completed.

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

Shortly after beginning to drive, I approached a stop sign and the parking brake automatically engaged, and I could not drive. I had to shut the truck off, manually disengage the parking brake and then I was able to drive again. This has happened 4 or 5 times over the past couple of months. It's very dangerous and the dealers are telling me they can't do anything about it because they can't replicate the problem. This is extremely dangerous and is going to cause an accident.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

2022 Ram 1500 with etorque Hemi, 46,000 miles. On 3 occasions, since August 9, 2024, the engine stalled upon the engine starting during stop start mode. All 3 occasions occurred at a stop sign. 2 stalls occurred in front of oncoming vehicles. No accident happened. 1 instance the vehicle the emergency brake was activated, the low battery voltage light came on, voltage showed 11.4 volts, and the voltage did not increase while driving .75 mile. Battery was charged over night. Latest occurrence, after restart the voltage would stay at 13.0 volts while driving over 20 miles.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

Potential Consequences:

On July 20, 2024, I was stopping at a red light at a slow speed when the electronic parking brake engaged on its own. I couldn’t turn it off and the truck would not move forward when the light turned green. I had to turn the vehicle on and off several times to disengage the brake. We then turned off the brake assist off in the user settings/computer. This could have caused a rear end collision but thankfully the cars behind us were also traveling at a slow speed and saw we had our hazard lights on.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

1st Issue: With <5K miles on odometer, engine would not shift out of 1st gear. Check engine light came on. I drove ~5 miles to a safe place and parked. After a few minutes I cranked up and the check engine light was off. Transmission shifted fine. I reported to the service manager at Abernathy Dodge in Lincolnton NC during first scheduled oil change. He shrugged and said "who knows". 2nd Issue: With <10K miles, vehicle would stop suddenly and would not move. I had to pull the park brake lever to release it. Assumed it was a safety system that I was not familiar with. Later, it would lock down and stall and I took the same steeps to release. 3rd Issue: With <39K miles (3k outside of warranty and paid for) the check engine and battery light come on. I took it to Marburger RAM in Shelby NC because it is closer than the dealer where I purchased. They stated it needed a battery module that had to be ordered. I drove it almost home before the engine stalled. Had it towed back to Marburger on 7/13/24. I have called frequently and stopped in on 3 occasions since 7/13/24. Each time they are waiting on some type of battery module. No attempts to reach out and keep me updated. I really like the RAM 1500 truck but, I am sick of electronic gremlins and failure of dealer to address or communicate. I have been extremely fortunate to have avoided a highway accident caused by electronic features beyond the drivers immediate control. Any assistance and manufacturer accountability you can provide is greatly appreciated.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

Problems started about a year after I built/purchased the vehicle. I started to experience stalling and hesitation when accelerating. At slower speeds, the truck shuts off, occasionally and the brakes lock up. This almost caused a major incident twice, due to vehicles following me and the abrupt stops in traffic. This could have caused a major accident and loss of life/lives. This has been going on for several months. They can't seem to duplicate the problem, even though, on 3 occasions, they did software updates and once, replaced the fuel pump. The vehicle is still under warranty but approaching the end of warranty period in about a year. I have taken the vehicle to Dodge on 8 occasions and they say it can't be duplicated. I filed an arbitration hearing for them to repurchase or replace, but was denied. I recently read in a news article that there is a preliminary investigation for the exact same thing that is happening to my vehicle, which involves over 150,000 vehicles in the 2022 Ram and Jeep Wagoneers by the NHTSA. The vehicle is very dangerous to drive and I fear that a major accident is imminent. Customer care says that because they can't find anything wrong with the vehicle, they closed the case. I have everything documented, the arbitration case denial, the customer care representative, closing the case because she stated that I was refusing to work with them, which is not true. She informed me that they were even going to tow the vehicle to the Dealership where it was purchased, but the dealership refused to look at or work on the vehicle. She expected me to drive 100 miles to another dealership and I refused to do that, based on the drivability of the vehicle. The dealership where purchased, is 15-20 miles from my residence. Another dealership, that has been trying to duplicate the problem is 5 miles from my residence. There is a very, very dangerous problem with this vehicle. At the moment I have roughly 17,000 miles; practically new.
