Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2019-2024 Ram 1500 vehicles. The driver's side air bag may not be connected properly, which can cause the air bag not to deploy as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Potential Risk:
A driver's side air bag that does not deploy as intended increases the risk of injury in a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers secured the connectors for the air bag, free of charge. All vehicles have been remedied. Owner notification letters were mailed May 27, 2025. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 08C.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Ram 1500 Classic vehicles equipped with heated trailer tow rearview mirrors. The mirror glass may detach from the driver's side heated trailer tow rearview mirror. As such these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Potential Risk:
Detached mirror glass can reduce driver visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2019-2022 Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickup trucks. The tailgate may not latch properly due to misaligned tailgate strikers, which could result in the tailgate opening while driving.

Potential Risk:
An unintended tailgate opening while driving may result in a loss of unsecured cargo, possibly creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.

Potential Risk:
An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.

Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Ram 1500 Classic, 2015-2016 Ram 3500, and Ram 2500 vehicles, and 2016 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis with a gross vehicle weight rating less than 10,000 lbs. The side air bag inflatable curtain (SABIC) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator, or the inflator sidewall may rupture.

Potential Risk:
A separated inflator end cap or inflator rupture can allow compressed gas to escape, resulting in the end cap or other components being propelled into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will inspect and replace as necessary, the SABIC assemblies, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed on October 4, 2021. The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that upon a cold start of the vehicle, the vehicle stalled while depressing the accelerator pedal. The driver’s side visor fell down on its own and blocked my visibility almost causing me to lose control of the vehicle because I could not see where I was going. The visor will not stay up in the locked position. I can see wires and a broken black plastic part where the visor support is located.

The contact owns a 2020 Ram1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the brakes applied independently without being depressed. There was no warning light illuminated. While driving over a bump in the roadway, the vehicle inadvertently shifted lanes and the vehicle became uncontrollable. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced the death wobble and the vehicle spun out of control and was almost struck by another vehicle. The contact was provided a police escort to the dealer. The 4WD, ABS, and service engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who stated that the tires needed to be replaced. The vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that an unknown module needed to be replaced. The dealer also recommended that the tires be replaced for better performance. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to a tire shop and the tires were replaced but the failure persisted. While driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact was unable to control the vehicle on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that the front passenger’s side tire needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case and referred the contact to the local dealer. The manufacturer closed the case after speaking with the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

The contact owns a 2020 Ram1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the brakes applied independently without being depressed. There was no warning light illuminated. While driving over a bump in the roadway, the vehicle inadvertently shifted lanes and the vehicle became uncontrollable. POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

After pulling out of a parking lot, I was accelerating, probably between 30-40mph, and the transmission suddenly slipped into neutral. I had just merged into traffic and because of this defect in the transmission, my truck was sharply slowing down with several other vehicles behind and beside me. Thankfully I drove a manual transmission for years so I knew what was happening. I physically turned the gear selector to neutral and right back to drive and I was able to regain control. However, in that time, my speed probably decreased about 10mph. Had I been on a highway or in front of an inattentive driver, a serious accident could have occurred. After doing some research, I see this has happened to several other people with the same vehicle. I will definitely be taking my truck in this week. It’s still under warranty with about 23k miles.

Potential Consequences:

Fuel tank malfunctions. It will not relieve pressure to fill up. Have to continually pump gas for a long time for it to fill the tank up. This has happened on multiple replacement tanks. Yes, it is available for inspection. My safety and others is put at risk because it allows gas to overflow while filling up with the automatic pump. Also due to having trouble putting fuel in it causing me to run out of fuel in the middle of traffic. This is the 3rd gas tank I've had on my dodge ram's that has had the same problem. This has happened on multiple Dodge Ram 1500's that I have owned. The component has only been inspected by the dealership when sent in for repair/replacement on each occasion. It has consistently shown to have this problem when the vehicle gets to about 40,000-70,000 miles on the vehicle. There are no warning signs or symptoms that show before it happens.

There is a problem with the way dodge/ram is doing recalls on the tailgate latches. They are only testing them out three times to see if they fail to attach. We have damage to the tailgate from a faulty latch and they said the latch passed the inspection and there is nothing wrong with it. Damage did occur while we was going down the road and the tailgate fell open but the striker is "fine" something happened!!! This is going to cause serious injuries and dodge/ram does not care. All they care about is the money not safety of the individuals. That check is useless as we all know sometimes things happen and it may no occur after the third but maybe the fourth or fifth. They will not even repair the damage the recall caused to my tailgate. But the tailgate is "fine"

I did find a licensed repair facility that will do a complete engine removal, overhaul and rebuild including a 24 Month Warranty. According to the gentleman at the repair facility, this is a common issue, and they are on working rotation, repairing 12-15 HEMI Engines at any time due to this common failure. 5.7L HEMI Valve Train issues have been documented over and over; this is a known issue for many years. There have been several cases where HEMI engine owners have filed lawsuits against automobile manufacturer, alleging defects or performance issues with their engines. In some cases, these lawsuits have been successful in securing damages for the owners. I could provide you with some general examples. My vehicle is a 2020 Ram/1500 BIG HORN/LONESTAR (with 5.7L HEMI - V8) My VIN is - [XXX] The Engine system failed/malfunctioned while driving on the highway. (It is currently available for inspection upon request.) I will however be taking the vehicle in for an engine rebuild and reinstall on or around May 30th, 2023. My safety and the safety of others was put great risk when my engine sputtered and vehicle rapidly slowed down on the freeway, during rush hour traffic; nearly causing rear end collision. Check Engine warning lamp came on and started flashing at the time of the failure, this was first time it happened. My vehicle was diagnosed from a mechanic/technician at Milosch's Palace Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Lake Orion, Michigan. The technician said that the engine failed due to issue with Cylinder #7 and will need to be replaced - at a cost of nearly $11,000. I did find a licensed repair facility that will do a complete engine removal, overhaul and rebuild including a 24 Month Warranty. According to the gentleman at the repair facility, this is a common issue, and they are on working rotation, repairing 12-15 HEMI Engines at any time due to this common failure. 5.7L HEMI Valve Train issues have been documented over and over; this is a known issue for many years. There have been several cases where HEMI engine owners have filed lawsuits against automobile manufacturer, alleging defects or performance issues with their engines. In some cases, these lawsuits have been successful in securing damages for the owners. I could provide you with some general examples.
