BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
Potential Consequences:
There are two major mechanical problems: 1. The backup camera is unreliable and dangerous. It flickers horribly while in use, often blacking out for multiple seconds at a time. 2. The automatic braking feature is overly sensitive and occasionally slams the brakes when you're trying to park, making you think you've hit something. I've asked Polestar to fix both of these issues, or to at least disable the automatic braking. No luck.
Corrective Action:

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Potential Consequences:
While under light braking in the center lane of the highway at roughly 40MPH and 3-4 car lengths behind the vehicle in front the Automatic Emergency Braking system activated and brought the car to a complete stop. The vehicle behind was several car lengths away and had to slam on their brakes to avoid a collision. The incident caused pain to my right shoulder from the seatbelt tensioning and braking. After coming to a complete stop, the vehicle allowed me to proceed. There were vehicles in neighboring lanes, but at not point was there a situation that would warrant emergency intervention.

The contact owns a 2022 Polestar PS2. The contact stated while exiting a parking lot, the vehicle started jerking and decelerated, followed by the turtle mode warning light being illuminated. The contact was able to make it home safely. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing, but the dealer stated that no failure was found. On another occasion, while driving 65 MPH, the collision warning light illuminated and made a beeping sound. The vehicle steered independently out the lane. The contact was able to steer the vehicle back into the proper lane. The dealer was contact but provided no assistance. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 13,000.

My specific PS2 has 2.3 software on it and the vehicle lane assistance package drove the car on two occasions into a bike lane. Prior to the the car had a complete system and safety failure where the car accelerated, changed lanes on the freeway to the fast last from the middle lane and then proceeded to flash hardware errors and software errors that disabled all of the safety systems from cameras, blind spot assistance, lane assistance, and more. The vehicle rapidly accelerated on it's own and changed lanes. Polestar took over 3 weeks to get a report that matches the onboard and OTA communications to order a replacement part. Prior to the the car had a complete system and safety failure where the car accelerated, changed lanes on the freeway to the fast last from the middle lane and then proceeded to flash hardware errors and software errors that disabled all of the safety systems from cameras, blind spot assistance, lane assistance, and more. The vehicle rapidly accelerated on it's own and changed lanes. Polestar took over 3 weeks to get a report that matches the onboard and OTA communications to order a replacement part. Polestar 2 has a series of software and hardware system failures where the dealership is not logging them asking customers that instead of leaving their car, they can take a look at it right now. The software team is then instructed to reload the 2.2 to 2.4 software as their system is not fully updating causing conflicting software packets leading to dangerous glitches. My specific PS2 has 2.3 software on it and the vehicle lane assistance package drove the car on two occasions into a bike lane. Approx 2 months into taking possession of the car I lost the ability to use the virtual key. I made every attempt to re-add feature to no avail. Four months later I have now had a failure with the TCAM. I have lost all ability to connect to Wi-Fi which affects the ability to use SOS, I can’t track my vehicle, I’m unable to schedule charging, no access to internet apps, I’ve attempted to tether my phone which fails, etc. I’ve contacted the company who gave suggestions to reset the TCAM that did not work. Emails have been traded back and forth prolonging the repair. I’m still attempting to schedule a time to get the vehicle inspected/repaired. The only visible warning/indication I had is the “triangle with an x” indicating there was no Wi-Fi that was my key indication and then noticing my lack of ability to schedule charging. Upon noticing those in the same day I began to notice other features no longer worked.

We were driving our car with two little kids in it on a rainy day at 60mph and the car screeching braked to 5mph on a highway with a ‘propulsion system failure’ message. The car would knock at 5mph and continue in turtle mode. We could have been killed if there was a car behind us in that rain. When we took the car to polestar service (prestige Volvo) they did a software upgrade in 30 mins and said the car is ready. A day later the car gave other issues like blanking screens. I took the case with polestar corporate who were extremely rude in their behavior and gave me a loaner and sent the car back to service. 2 days later they said that the car is repaired and I can pick it up. When I asked them to give me a letter stating that the car is safe to drive, the agent from polestar (Sophia) was extremely rude and said that they will not give me a written confirmation. I spoke to the polestar service manager Jay Rosen and he said he has seen this issue many times in some cars and I inquired why there was no recall in that case and there was no answer. Another service manager from Polestar Jason who spoke to me yesterday informed me that technicians looked at my car remotely and not in person. This is extremely scary.

Multiple instances where the vehicle's TCAM has failed, leaving us stranded in a parking lot. Car drives as normal. Lock the car. Return to the car and the vehicle no longer recognizes the key(s). Only solution is to go to dealer and have vehicle's systems reset. However, the problem has returned.
