Safety Issue:
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. The wiring harness for the rearview camera and the center brake light may short circuit, which can disable the rearview camera image and center brake light. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 111, "Rear Visibility" and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2020 Jeep Gladiator and Jeep Cherokee, 2019-2020 Ram 1500 Pickup, Ram 2500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Pickup, Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler, and Jeep Renegade and 2019 Dodge Challenger vehicles equipped with 8.4" or 12" radio displays. A software error can cause the rearview camera image to remain displayed after the vehicle has been shifted out of reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rearview Mirrors."

HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DIEALERSHIP 1X AND TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. TECHNICIAN COMMENTS ON THE PAPERWORK "VEHICLE DROVE FINE AND NOT WONDER ALL OVER THE ROAD". ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD POPPING NOISE AND THE ENTIRE CONSOLE SCREEN FAILED. THE CONTACT STOPPED AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE ENTIRE CONSOLE SCREEN STILL FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE CONTACT WAS STILL ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED CHERRY HILL DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (1708 W, NJ-70, CHERRY HILL, NJ 08002, (856) 471-1058) AND THEY ASKED WHEN SHE COULD BRING IN THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE VEHICLE BEING PARKED FOR TWO DAYS AT AN AIRPORT LOT, THE VEHICLE WAS LATER STARTED AND THE ENTIRE CONSOLE SCREEN FAILED AND THE POWER STEERING SEIZED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE VEERED OFF THE ROAD AND CRASHED INTO A TELEPHONE POLE. THE CONTACT'S SON WAS MEDICALLY CHECKED OUT WITH AN ICE PACK TO THE FACE BUT NO AMBULANCE SERVICES WERE NEEDED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED AND IT WAS TOWED WITH THE REAR WHEELS BEING LOCKED MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO TOW TO A TOW YARD. THE MANUFACTURER FILED A CASE AND WOULD HAVE AN INVESTIGATOR INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED IT WOULD TAKE TWO TO FOUR WEEKS UNTIL THEY HAVE SOME FINDINGS ON THE ISSUE AND HAD NOT OFFERED A LOANER VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 848.

THIS OCCURS MOST WHEN ON ROUGH / WET PAVEMENT, ON CURVES IN CONSTRUCTION ZONES, WHEN LARGE TRUCKS PASS, ON WINDY DAYS - IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL ABOVE 40 MPH. DEALER HAS BEEN RESPONSIVE AND HELPFUL - WE HAVE REPLACED TRACK BAR, REPLACED TIE ROD BUSHINGS, UPDATED STEERING CONTROL MODULE, ADJUSTED ALIGNMENT, REDUCED AIR PRESSURE IN TIRES - ALL OF WHICH HAS HELPED REDUCE WANDER AND IMPROVE CONTROL. BUT, STILL HAS SOME WANDER AND IS VERY SENSITIVE. REPLACED STEERING STABILIZER WITH CUSTOM ADJUSTABLE STABILIZER, WHICH I EXPECT WILL ELIMINATE WANDER AND TIGHTEN / FIRM STEERING. BUT, I BELIEVE PROBLEM IS DEFECTIVE STEERING GEAR / BOX, AND SETTINGS IN STEERING CONTROL MODULE - WHICH SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED. NEEDS FIRMER, TIGHTER STEERING WITH LESS PLAY. I PERSONALLY DESIRE MID AND UPPER BACK SUPPORT, ESPECIALLY DURING IMPACT OF A REAR END COLLISION. THE PROTRUDING ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT MAKES PROPER BACK SUPPORT IMPOSSIBLE. THESE HEAD RESTRAINT SYSTEMS SHOULD BE ADJUSTABLE FOR THOSE WHO USE THEIR CAR SEATS PROPERLY AND DO NOT RECLINE THEM EXCESSIVELY.
