Defect Description:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
The control screen of my jeep is 'delaminating'. This is apparently quite a known issue to the manufacturer, however they wont do anything to address it. When the screen starts reacting to phantom touches, not only can I not control anything in the car, it is very distracting to the driver to put it mildly. I have also read that as the glue melts, it leaks onto the wiring of all the components under the screen including the AC, all the parking sensor and traction control off controls.

Potential Consequences:
Touch screen is delaminating and has ghost touch causing random unintentional functions to be selected and others to be obscured. Heated seats come on and won't turn off. Phone calls are made on their own. Repeated screen messages from ghost touch selections obstruct use of screen for intended purposes which include most vehicle controls. It presents a serious driving distraction. I consider this a safety issue. It is a known defective part for which Jeep has a replacement but won't offer the replacement at no cost out of warranty. Cost is approximately $1,000.

Defect Description:
UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Potential Consequences:
The touch screen on the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited is delaminating and this appears to be a common theme with this vehicle. The delamination causes the screen to "ghost touch" itself and constantly click various parts of the screen. This almost entirely prohibits the use of the HandsFree function, a serious safety issue. When holding the button to activate Siri when my iPhone is connected, Siri will activate but then the screen "ghost touches" itself and immediately deactivates Siri because the screen touches itself not where the Siri logo/listening icon appears. I cannot use Hands Free functions in my vehicle which causes the need to use my hands which is very dangerous. This needs to be recalled to prevent situations where drivers of a 2018 vehicle with CarPlay are forced to use their hands. Further, with the screen touching itself, it is constantly pressing on the screen and selecting different presets, settings, options. I cannot view my Apple Maps on the touch screen because it switches off the screen and begins to play music, pause the music, skip songs, play songs, etc. While listening to the radio, the screen will touch itself and select different presets, changing the station, and be very very distracting. This issue is a serious distraction while driving and puts myself and those I am driving in danger.

Potential Consequences:
Top right corner of touch screen started delaminating about a year ago. But nothing happened, it was just cosmetic. Until now, it causes the screen to change on its own. It will call people, change the radio station, flicker the map and end the directions, turn on my seat heaters. It is very distracting while driving which is dangerous and puts my safety at risk. This is a very known and common issue by Jeep, but out of warranty they just charge you $1000+ to replace it.

Uconnect infotainment screen is delaminating causing the unit to select random buttons on its own. on a cool morning I was driving to work when the screen started randomly changing the climate controls blasting full heat directly on my windshield causing it to fog up and impaired my visibility. The unit then started calling 911, turning radio channels on and adjusting the volume. This was extremely distracting and I had no control over the functions of my vehicle. Uconnect is aware of this very common issue and refuses to offer a solution. No warning, only visible defect of the delamination was present prior to the unit randomly changing functions on its own.

Potential Consequences:
I own a jeep grand Cherokee summit (2018), and the central control unit is delaminating, which in turn causes touch screen sensitivity issues. The trouble is that this unit is the central nervous system of the car. It controls hvac, camera, radio, car settings, etc… and having a car pressing its own buttons and self-changing car settings while driving is a MAJOR safety concern. Jeep has been unhelpful for myself and for vehicle owners of Jeep, Ram, etc… cars which all suffer from the same manufacturer defect. The manufacturer admittedly says the units are universally a problem, and have goodwill fixed some for people out of warranty, but refuses to help most people — thereby forcing the consumer to spend ~$1500 installing a new computer. Please help.

Screen delaminating. It started in the top left corner of the screen and progressively is getting worse. I’ve read this is a common issue. Unable to select any controls. It Automatically selects controls itself at a rapid pace. Also with selecting controls it causes it to automatically call random contacts. It causes several distractions and is frustrating when you can’t use half of the the functions that Are connected with the screen. Such as A/C and heating functions. The air turned on full blast one day while driving and fogged up the front windshield causing me to have to pull over and try to get the screen to shut down.

The air turned on full blast one day while driving and fogged up the front windshield causing me to have to pull over and try to get the screen to shut down.
Additional Notes:
Screen delaminating. It started in the top left corner of the screen and progressively is getting worse. I’ve read this is a common issue. Unable to select any controls. It Automatically selects controls itself at a rapid pace. Also with selecting controls it causes it to automatically call random contacts. It causes several distractions and is frustrating when you can’t use half of the the functions that Are connected with the screen. Such as A/C and heating functions. Defect Description:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
Touch Screen De-laminiation. Entertainment system started having ghost clicks without being touched while driving at highway speeds. Started making phone calls, changing radio stations, turning HVAC on and off, depending on which screen I was on. Could not turn off screen because the phantom touches would just turn it back on again.

Potential Consequences:
The Head Unit which controls, among other things, the ‘SOS’ calling system, the GPS, the cellphone (for calling 911) has a membrane screen which delaminates and causes the unit to make all kinds of eronious calls, GPS location changes and disabling events. I feel this is a serious safety concern and that the mfr. (Delphi) should voluntarily recall these units for replacement.
