Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Dodge Durango, 2021-2023 Chrysler Pacifica, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, 2022 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, Chrysler Voyager, 2022-2023 Jeep Compass, Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, andRam Promaster vehicles. The radio software may prevent the rearview image from displaying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Potential Risk:
A rearview camera image that does not display decreases the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will update the radio software or the software will be OTA, "Over-The-Air," free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning July 9, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's numbers for this recall are 66B and 79B.

Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Jeep Compass vehicles. The brightness level of the instrument panel cluster (IPC) may not be adjustable due to incorrect software in the body control module (BCM). As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 101, "Control and Displays."

Potential Risk:
An IPC display that is not bright enough may not clearly show critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will update the body control module (BCM) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 29, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 88A.

Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022 Jeep Compass vehicles. The instrument panel center cluster display may be insufficiently illuminated and may not appear visible during daytime driving conditions. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 101, "Control and Displays."

Potential Risk:
An instrument panel display that is not visible to the driver may result in the inability to see safety-critical information, such as the fuel gauge and warning lights, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will replace the windshield and headlamp switch, add a light sensor module, and add a wiring jumper harness to allow the instrument panel center cluster display backlighting to function correctly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 30, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 15A.

Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022 Jeep Compass vehicles. The front seat head restraints were not welded properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 202, "Head Restraints."

Potential Risk:
Improperly welded head restraints can result in an increased risk of injury to seat occupants during a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will replace both front seat head restraints, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 3, 2022. Owners may contact FCA US LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is Z36.

After operating the vehicle for more than 45 minutes radio volume fades and can't hear radio and/or navigation, nor make wireless calls. Volume will not work again until car sits overnight. These vehicles are purchased by people that sometimes drive long distances in inclement weather - not having access to these features (such as radio access to hear weather and road closures) is a hazard. As is not being able to hands free telephone access. Problem is widespread, dealers aren't aware of it, don't know how to fix it, and is widely discussed on MyJeepCompass site by owners who are experiencing the problem shortly after purchase.

Brought my jeep into another dealership and their adviser told me the same thing. Last night 12/25 I was able to pull my car into a neighborhood before my vehicle completely shutdown I had it towed to my house.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that the dealer previously replaced the PCU and axillary battery, and reprogrammed the TCM; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle jerked and then lost motive power with the Auto Start/Stop warning light illuminated and the "Stop Safely, Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon" message displayed. Additionally, the parking brake inadvertently engaged while the vehicle lost motive power. The failure occurred on four separate occasions, once causing a minor rear-end collision with cosmetic damage to the contact's rear bumper. No air bags were deployed. The contact did not sustain any injuries, and medical attention was not received. No police report was filed. The contact was able to drive the vehicle away from the collision site. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but declined to buy back the vehicle under the lemon law. The failure mileage was approximately 5,386.

LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION

Potential Consequences:

There is a known issue with multiple 2022 Jeep Compass trims and models that, after long periods of driving (about an hour), the volume for all components utilizing sound becomes barely audible even at max volume. This affects all warning systems including blind spot, lane departure, etc. Upon turning off the vehicle for long periods of time (a few hours) the volume will return, but the issue will occur again if driving for an hour plus with short stops. Jeep has acknowledged the concern for over a year on Jeep forums and dealers are not helpful regarding the issue. Jeep states there will be an update to the UConnect system controlling audio functions in Q4 2022. But Jeep has yet to release an update with 2 weeks left to go in the year despite knowing of the issue since end of 2021. I have additional concerns for safety as I have to disengage hands free audio during long drives due to the volume issue causing further distraction and complications on top of not having audio for any other integrated components (like gps, radio, etc.) In addition to the safety features. Potential Consequences:

There is a known issue with multiple 2022 Jeep Compass trims and models that, after long periods of driving (about an hour), the volume for all components utilizing sound becomes barely audible even at max volume. This affects all warning systems including blind spot, lane departure, etc. Upon turning off the vehicle for long periods of time (a few hours) the volume will return, but the issue will occur again if driving for an hour plus with short stops. Jeep has acknowledged the concern for over a year on Jeep forums and dealers are not helpful regarding the issue. Jeep states there will be an update to the UConnect system controlling audio functions in Q4 2022. But Jeep has yet to release an update with 2 weeks left to go in the year despite knowing of the issue since end of 2021. I was on the entrance ramp for the freeway and the gas pedal disengaged. I could not accelerate and my car slowed down. A message on the display said to service electronic throttle. This has happened to me twice. My car is barely six months old. I was going 40 mph at the time. Today, I was getting into my car after picking up lunch and as I sat down, the alarm went off for close to 4 minutes. I unlocked and locked the key fob, I started the car and turned it off, and repeated everything about twenty times. I'm in a very public place sitting inside of a car whose alarm won't shut off...anyone could've called the police on me. Someone probably did. The alarm is supposed to shut off at 90 seconds, why didn't it? Why have an alarm that won't disengage? When I press the button to disable the auto stop/start, my car will jerk a few times and a message will pop up to service the auto stop/start. This first happened two days after I got the car (less than 100 miles on car) and it's probably happened close to ten times by now. I'm usually going about 30 - 40 mph when this happens.
