The auxiliary battery doesn’t not work properly in the vehicle. The car has turned completely off or with the emergency break light on several times while driving when I come to a complete stop. This is a huge safety concern. This is my second battery and the dealership is saying it needs to be replaced. I purchased a brand new one last year.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

I have have a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trail Hawk with the V6 Engine, On Sunday May 28th I was driving home and started to notice a burning rubber smell and when I got home I started to look at the Engine to see if a belt or something else was causing the smell then I noticed a oil leak. I called the local Jeep dealership on Monday the 29th and they couldn't get me in until Thursday June 1st. After they looked it over they called me to tell me The PTU P/N 68333255AE was leaking and also shows signs on Metal in the oil. They said it needed to be replaced. The service Rep said they couldn't order the part because they are on back order with no date of availability. The service Manager said they are well over 500 of them on back order. I'm still waiting on my extended warranty to approve the repairs and the dealer then to try and locate a Part. This problem had a recall on older models but this year was not included in the recall.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

The Jeep has the auto start-stop system that turns off the engine when stopping for a prolonged amount of time but the car is still in drive. When I use this, the car often will lose all power when trying to restart and will take a moment before regaining power while I am at the stoplight. I also had a problem with the car starting in general. It will often lose power for a moment when starting. The battery is in good shape. It was just recently inspected while at an oil change. The battery is not the problem. The electrical system is (as I have read whilst doing research since this problem started).

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

I was driving the Jeep Cherokee and it stalled while driving, and engaged the parking brake. I then had to put the vechile in park release the parking brake turn it off then on again in order to make it operational. Since then the vehicle has started to have issues with EVCS and breaking system. The vechile will stall and engage parking brake while idling, driving, or even in park. Having a vechile that engages the braking system automatically increases the risk of getting into a crash. This has happened numerous times and brought up to the dealership in which they stated the vechile was in need of an oil change.

Additional Notes:

I was driving the Jeep Cherokee and it stalled while driving, and engaged the parking brake. I then had to put the vechile in park release the parking brake turn it off then on again in order to make it operational. ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

The car will start, drive for a minute or two and then the battery warning light flashes and the car completely stalls out and dies. This has now happened 3 times. Back in I believe January it happened and I replaced the battery, but then was told that the battery I replaced was actually still good (it had only been a year old). It then happened yesterday and then again today. I have taken it into the dealership and it is apparently still related to the oil consumption being way higher then it should be (which I was under the impression was fixed 2 years ago when I took the car in for it stalling out). This car is incredibly unsafe. It is unacceptable that it just turns off in the middle of the road when I am transporting my children. Ridiculous to be stuck with a car that has ongoing issues of this nature. The car is still a thousand miles from being due for a regular oil change and the dealership said it was completely out of oil when they looked today.

In the past 6 months I have had issues with my oil becoming completely empty in between oil changes. I get my oil changed regularly by the same company in our small town. One day I pulled up because my oil light had come on and I had almost 2000 miles until the next oil change. On the next oil change it did it and they came back and said that it was completely dry again. I had been stopping by them and having them checking the level once a week. Each time the oil level was down a little more each time. Then after a short trip out of town over the weekend I took it in that Monday and again it was dry. I have reported it to the dealership and never got a call back regarding it. I check online and noticed that there are a lot of complaints about the same issues. This seems to be an issue that Jeep is failing to recognize.
