URGENT: Date of near life & death situation.10-6-2023.This 2019 KL Cherokee lost accelerating power while in heavy traffic. As the car was losing speed the "D" drive indicator on center dash started flashing a moments later 2 messages displayed: Msg 1: Service transmission Restart in Park with vehicle @ zero speed. Msg 2: Shift to park or neutral Press brakes and select gear. (Center dash is the screen between tachometer and speedometer) Followed instructions, turned key to off position for a few seconds then started engine placed shifter in drive, accelerated engine to 2000 RPMs, car failed to move. Turned key off a second time, waited about 18 seconds for the mileage readout to clear then another 6 seconds (+-) for the outline light bars for the center screen to clear. Then when started it engaged a drive gear. Even in residential areas there are large trash trucks and large delivery trucks hurrying about, added to this vehicle faulting in roadway much less a center lane on the interstate with no time to pull out of traffic. Don't trust the car seat and booster seat even with air bags to save your children. Action is required to remove these vehicles from service after it has been proven the manufacturer cannot supply the dealership with a successful repair for a well documented failure of a common safety hazard in many of their vehicles. Potential Consequences:
While stopped at a stop light the car just died, no warning lights. It just went from running to dead. I was blocking a lane of traffic and could not put the car in neutral as nothing was working. I had to call for police assistance due to traffic and being in a vulnerable position, he was able to manually put the car in neutral and push me onto the grassy median to wait for a tow truck. After I had my car towed home I was able to jump start it with jumper cables.
Corrective Action:

While sitting in a parking lot waiting for my children after school my vehicle went from running to dead. No warning lights just dead. As this had previously happened to me I found someone to jump may car and it started right up. It is as if the battery just dies and the car shuts off but nothing works. BUT when I had the battery checked it was found to be in good working order.

Driving on the highway fortunately about 20 MPH and the jeep Cherokee limited died while moving. Could not restart it and had to get towed off the highway . Jeep dealer said it was because of a dead battery that could not hold a charge. Never in 4 years had a problem . Not sure why a dead battery would cause the jeep to shut down completely while moving. Battery replaced and now the radio is dead according to the dealer . Have not picked the jeep up yet

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the steering wheel was pulling to the right and the left. The contact stated that the movement was very slight; however, the failure required corrective steering to maintain the position in the lane. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.

The electronic parking brake came on while turning slowly. It triggered an error code in the Shift Solenoid A Control , error code P0973. When I turn off the car, wait then turn it on again, it works fine. This has been happening for about 2 years every few months. I took it to the deal when it happen a few months ago, but they couldn't reproduce it. It happens randomly. The vehicle has not been inspected for this occurrence. There were no warning lights or messages prior to it happening.

I was driving down I-55 S in Marion, Arkansas on 21 September 2023 at 620 in the morning headed towards Memphis when I heard a crack and glasses shattering above my head. I knew my sun roof had to have been broken. I pulled over and opened the automatic shade and my entire sunroof had been shattered. The inside of my car was completely covered in glass. There was no object that I saw that could have done this, it was roughly 65F outside, at 620am, with clear skies. I had to drive back to my boyfriends house in Marion to leave the car in his driveway and call my insurance company to file a claim and reserve a rent a car. There is still glass shards sticking out of the sunroof, which I cannot remove without injuring myself or furthering damaging the roof. The car is currently available for inspection and hasn’t not been inspected. There was no warning signs. I had opened my sunroof just last week and had no issues, there wasn’t any cracks or damages. I was driving roughly 70 mph and had several cars around me including a semi trailer, had I not had my shade closed I would have been covered with glass and may of gotten glass in my eyes which would have impacted my ability to see and may have caused an accident.

Recently a light for Service 4 Wheel Drive came on in my 2019 Jeep Cherokee. Since my Powertrain warranty is out of reach by 3,000 miles (63,000 miles) I am now forced to pay over $3,000.00 out of pocket to replace the PTU on my 2019 vehicle that only has 63,000 miles on it. The recall for earlier models does not cover they year of my vehicle, but I feel that it may not have been fixed with the 2019 model. If the PTU would have gone out while driving, I could have lost complete forward movement of the vehicle and it could have put both me and my young daughter in severe danger. The Service 4 Wheel Drive light is now on constantly and I was given no other choice but to pay to have it fixed for the safety of my daughter.
