Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2016 Honda Pilot 2WD vehicles manufactured May 4, 2015, to September 8, 2015 and 2016 Pilot 4WD vehicles manufactured May 7, 2015 to September 4, 2015. In the affected vehicles, when one of the safety systems such as tire pressure monitoring, anti-lock braking or electronic stability control malfunctions, there is potential that the instrument panel will not illuminate the corresponding warning light, however the warning lamps will illuminate when the ignition is turned off and then turned back on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 126, "Electronic stability control systems", number 135, "Light vehicle brake systems" and number 138, "Tire pressure monitoring systems".

I HAVE TO PUT IT BACK IN PARK AND HOLD THE START BUTTON DOWN AS IT STRUGGLES TO TURN OVER. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE CARS BEHIND ME EXPECT ME TO BE MOVING AND I HAVE BEEN ALMOST HIT AS A RESULT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO COLONIAL HONDA OF DARTMOUTH (225 STATE RD, DARTMOUTH, MA 02747, (508) 996-6800) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED SO THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT OVERHEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.

AFTER READING ON THIS WEBSITE AND OTHERS, THIS IS HAPPENING A LOT AND HONDA DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE AN ANSWER. THIS IS THE 2ND MAJOR ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. THE LAST ISSUE INVOLVED MY CAR BASICALLY SHUTTING DOWN ON THE FREEWAY AT 70MPH, GOING INTO A LOWER GEAR, EVERY POSSIBLE WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH LIT UP. HAD TO DRIVE ONE MILE ON THE SHOULDER TO GET IT OFF THE FREEWAY. THIS HAPPENED TWICE TO ME AND A "COMPUTER PATCH WAS DONE". IT SEEMS FIXED BUT NOW I AM NOT SURE AT ALL WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS CAR.

TWICE NOW MY 2016 HONDA PILOT ELITE WITH AUTO IDLING STOP FEATURE HAS STALLED AT INTERSECTION LIGHTS. WHILE STOPPED AT THE RED LIGHT THE ENGINE GOES OFF AND NORMALLY WHEN I LIFT MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE IT RESTARTS AND ACCELERATES WHEN I PUSH THE GAS PEDAL. HOWEVER, IN THESE INSTANCES WHEN I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND WENT TO ACCELERATE, THE ENGINE COMPLETELY STALLED. A COUPLE OF WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, UNFORTUNATELY I DIDN'T READ WHICH ONES BECAUSE I WAS AT BUSY INTERSECTIONS. THE CAR WOULD NOT START EVEN AFTER PUTTING IT INTO PARK. IT TOOK ABOUT 2 MINUTES BEFORE THE ENGINE WOULD START. OTHER DRIVERS WERE TRYING TO GET AROUND ME, HONKING. THE 2ND TIME, I WAS GOING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AND JUST HAD TO WAIT UNTIL I COULD START IT, WATCHING IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR HOPING I WOULDN'T GET REAR-ENDED. I DRIVE 75+ MILES TO WORK ON A VERY BUSY AND SLOW MOVING CALIFORNIA FREEWAY WITH LOTS OF STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT OUR SAFETY IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN ON A BUSY FREEWAY WHERE DRIVERS DON'T REALIZE I AM DEAD IN THE WATER. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AND THEY ADVISED ME TO GET IT INTO A DEALER RIGHT AWAY. I GOT AN APPOINTMENT FOR THIS AM AT 0700 BUT AS OF NOW (11:30AM) HAVEN'T HEARD A WORD. THEY ARE CHARGING ME $125 JUST TO RUN DIAGNOSTICS DESPITE THE FACT I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE SERVICE PERSON HAD A DEFINITE "COULD CARE LESS ATTITUDE". I CALLED HONDA'S CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY, THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME UNLESS THEIR CERTIFIED MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP LET THEM KNOW THAT THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WAS A MECHANICAL DEFECT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. I WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER. THIS IS A HIGH RISK HAZARD THAT NEEDS CORRECTIONS AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS, NOT RHETORIC.
