Defect Description:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
The auto engine stop feature left me stranded when the engine died. I pulled up to a traffic light and the engine cut off and wouldn’t start automatically when I let my foot off the brake. Also wouldn’t start when I tried manually starting it. Had battery and alternator tested. Both tested fine. Car finally started later. Seems to be ok if you disable the auto shut off function.

Defect Description:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
Three months into purchasing a brand new 2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L my car would not start. I was told my battery was drained/bad cell, due to the weather being too cold and all the electrical components of my vehicle. We lived in South Georgia and my van is kept in a garage. I was given a new battery at the beginning of 2019 and now in 2022 I’m told I need another AGM battery because mine is dead. I’m told by the dealership they can’t diagnose the problem exactly, but they are 75% sure this is the issue causing my van not to start, unable to be jump started, code P0600, warning lights stating emissions system problems, break system failure, anti-lock break system failure. Outside of Honda I’m told something is draining my battery, but Honda takes no responsibility and it’s out of pocket for a new $240 battery, which may or may not be the issue. Looking online at customer reviews, I’m not the only person with this issue. MANY MANY MANY Honda Odyssey owners have complained of the same issues and nothing has been done by Honda. My vehicle slammed on breaks driving down the interstate at over 70 MPH while my family was in the car. My doors stop closing if I start the car while the doors are mid-close, it will tell me to apply break while shifting to park even when the break is applied. There is an electrical issue within the Odyssey that needs to be addressed and recalled. These vehicles are too expensive to be malfunctioning and needing replacement parts after 3-4 years. I drove my Toyota to over 350,000 miles and never changed a battery.

Defect Description:
POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
While driving, if I don't make a complete stop (say at a yield sign), and I accelerate, there is a 1-2 second gap between when I press the pedal and the van actually goes. This can happen while fully stopped, while yielding, or even while getting onto the highway. Taking it back to the dealer has yielded only firmware upgrades to the software and recommending a $400 transmission flush. This happens more frequently while in economy mode, but also happens in sport mode. This has been going on for about a year now. The dealer has stated there is nothing wrong with the vehicle, but if I ever have to suddenly accelerate it could mean I will get into an accident.
Corrective Action:

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
The sensor on the passenger sliding door failed to work when the engine was on. Once the engine was off, the sliding door would close. The problem was reproduced by a Honda dealer service and while they were checking with the extended warranty to see if the sensor would be paid for, they let me take the van home for regular use. The next day, the door would not close with or without the engine on. We were not home and we could not leave the van in the parking lot or drive home with the door open, with our two young boys in the middle row in their carseats. My husband stood outside with the van for about 15 minutes until the door finally closed and the rear passenger window shattered. The safety of our family was put at risk due to the loose glass shards and due to the fact that the door was no longer functional. The vehicle was inspected by an agent from Louisiana Dealer Services today and they deemed that the broken window and track are due to damage and will not be covered under the extended warranty. There were no warning signs of a broken sensor before, during or after this incident.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
When I come to a complete stop and the start/stop motor goes into idle mode (shuts the engine down), I have a problem that occurs after it. It is unpredictable but when I come out of the idle and the engine is supposed to kick back on, my minivan stalls out. This has happened in heavy traffic areas and it takes 30 seconds to a minute to get the van to turn back on as the electrical system malfunctions. Big safety issue that can be scary in the moment. There are error messages that come up on the dash including "Collision Mitigation System Problem", "Brake System", and the center console system will restart. This problem doesn't happen when I disable the start/stop motor as it doesn't go into idle-stop mode. I have read through online forums recently and it appears this issue has happened in other Honda models dating back to 2016 models. This is clearly an issue across years/models and needs to be addressed. The local Honda dealership said they haven't heard of this problem and couldn't replicate. Therefore, there was no repair provided.

Potential Consequences:
The passenger side, rear sliding door does not engage in the locking mechanism. It intermittently lacks securely latching. In looking into the door, it appears that the actuator is not engaging properly. Upon researching this for a few minutes, I do see that there were recalls on 2018-2019 Honda Odysseys (as well as other models of Hondas). My car is a 2019 Odyssey. I have called Honda about this issue and they do not acknowledge this recall in regards to my VIN. Service Bulletin 18-128 in Nov. 2018 I do not understand the method used to determine which cars are impacted by the recall, or rather how mine is not (yet) included when I clearly have a faulty door latch which can potentially harm my children and other passengers. The door has automatically reversed from opening to closing halfway through and has come very close to hurting my daughter. Please get me a recall notice/repair notice (online would be fine!) asap so that I can get this taken care of immediately. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2018/RCRIT-18V795-2903.pdf Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Potential Consequences:
My van regularly hesitates from the stopped position. This often causes a safety hazard when turning right into traffic or making a left turn because I am not able to accelerate for several seconds and the vehicle feels as if it is stalling out. It is a known mechanical defect with Honda and they do not currently have a resolution. When reported, I was told the mechanical system defects to switching through all the gears before accelerating, causing the delay. I have brought the car into the dealership once regarding the issue and have been dealing with Honda headquarters with no resolution. Not only does this cause performance issues, there have been several close calls when I try to accelerate entering highway or making sharp turns

I have been chasing up honda dealers ( Honda of Turnersville and burns Honda ) to fix the issue , every time these dealers keep mentioning that they don't have spare parts or remedy to fix the issue. Its been 2 years , So far there is no resolution and i feel these vehicles are not safe on roads while pulling the vehicle back . I have reached HONDA corporate also to register my complaint and they mentioned the dealers have spare parts now , But when i call dealers they always come with story that they dont have remedy to fix the issue from corporates .
