VISIBILITY:SUN/MOON ROOF ASSEMBLY
Potential Consequences:
The contact owns a 2019 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 75 MPH, the panoramic glass sunroof shattered, causing shards of glass to enter the cabin of the vehicle. The contact stated that the panoramic sunroof was in the closed position when the failure occurred. During the failure, the front passenger sustained lacerations to the back, leg, and shoulder. The eleven-month-old child seated in the rear passenger’s side seat sustained lacerations to both legs. The rear middle seat occupant sustained a laceration to the rear head area, while the rear driver’s side occupant sustained lacerations to both arms. No injuries required medical treatment. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 58,000.

Potential Consequences:
I was driving at nighttime and my head lights cut off.. they were in auto light mode. I read that gmc knows about some sort of issue with this but only covers repairs up to 150k miles. My car is 156k miles. There was no warning lights and no indication anything was wrong. Luckily I was the only care on my side of the highway and was able to slam on the brakes and come to a complete stop. I turned the car off and then turned the head lights to manual and they can back on. A few hours later when I got home, I let the car cool off and turned the headlight back to auto and turned the car on and the worked.

SERVICE BRAKES
Potential Consequences:
While driving at the speed limit on U.S. Interstate 83 in Pennsylvania, my 2019 GMC Terrain's braking system suddenly, without any warning, became severely limited. The brake pedal suddenly became very hard to press and the my ability to slow or stop the vehicle became very difficult, requiring a great deal of pressure to even slow the vehicle. The braking system worked perfectly until that moment. If I needed to stop quickly or if I did not have as much leg strength, it is highly likely the equipment failure would have directly resulted in a catastrophic crash. I struggled to get the vehicle safely off the road and stopped. I then had it taken to a certified auto mechanic shop. There, it was found the GM vacuum brake booster pump had inexplicably failed, making the "brake assist" function inoperable. The mechanic was surprised GM had a replacement pump in stock, as he said that is not the norm for other brands. A moment after pressing the brake for the first time as the incident began, a message appeared on the dash stating "Service Brake Assist." There was no pre-failure warning or symptoms. I was in the middle of a 300-mile road trip, having already completed about 220 miles that day, without any notable incident. The cost to replace and install the vacuum pump was about $640.

My car automatic transmission is acting up when shifting from gear 5-6. It slips and it feels like the car is on Neutral for few seconds ( the engine RPM goes up to more than 4000 RPM)after it shifts to the 6th gear. When It shifts it feels like somebody hit us from the back. This is happening in internal roads, intermittently and on speed around 30mph. I'm worried this will cause the cars behind us to hit us when it happens. Everytime it occurs my baby starts crying. I'm concern about the safety of my family when we drive this car. I took the car to the dealership multiple times and they said that there's nothing wrong with the car.

I bought this car a couple of months ago. This problem didn't happen when I took it on a test drive from dealership. It happened after I bought it. Specifically when I start driving it more often. Sometimes a slipping occurs when shifting between gears 5-6. This happens intermittently on internal roads, not at high speed. When the car shifts the RPM goes up to 4000 RPM, sometimes even more, it feels like the car is in neutral for a few seconds, before it switches to the 6th gear. I have to remove my foot from the gas pedal to not let the RPM get very high. When this happens it feels like somebody hit us from the back. Last time my baby started crying when this happens. I'm a little concerned about our safety when we drive this car. The issue is that this problem is difficult to duplicate. Sometimes it happens more than once in 1 day and sometimes it doesn't happen for a while. I did some research online about similar cases with GM SUVs and some said that their problem was resolved after changing a defective valve Body and TCM and some said it's the clutch. It also can be transmission fluid but this car has a low mileage (28500) I doubt the transmission fluid need to be changed. Based on the GMC maintenance schedule, the transmission oil should be changed when this car reaches 45k. I took this car to the dealership multiple times, they check it and they tell me that they're unable to duplicate this issue. I'm not sure what else to do! I love this car. I'm disappointed that I had to deal with this issue that I believe is a safety hazard and could cause accidents. I need your help please!

I’m crying out to you because I bought a 2019 GMC Terrain in April of this year with about 14,000 miles. The suv ran great for about 2 months and since then I’ve been dealing with nothing but a nightmare. We’re dealing with a situation where the suv goes into park while driving. I’m crying out to you because I bought a 2019 GMC Terrain in April of this year with about 14,000 miles. The suv ran great for about 2 months and since then I’ve been dealing with nothing but a nightmare. We’re dealing with a situation where the suv goes into park while driving. We’ve brought the suv multiple times to GMC dealership and even reached out to GMC, and had no luck resolving the issue. Last night, while driving to a family event, the suv went into park while I was driving. This is the 4th time since we got the suv. I’m scared for my safely in this suv, if you could please assist

Took it back to the dealership and am now told I need a new cam shaft which cost another $2400 to fix. This is a serious safety concern as I had no warning or received no notification that the brakes had failed just went to stop and could not. How long is GMC going to let this issue go before being addressed. How many people have to die first before they recall them as the have already recalled the bigger models of gmc, Chevrolet, Cadillac and Buick for the same reason? When I’m reverse screen shows blue and message says “service rear camera system” I purchased this car NEW in 2019 and warranty just expired. I have read so many forums with this being a common problem with gmc. Why this isn’t covered and over $600 coming out of my pocket to fix it is ridiculous. This is a safety issue and gmc flaw and should be corrected/covered by them.
