Truck acted like it would not start several times in a day. Had battery replaced and it still did not fix the issue. Was told by dealership I would need to bring in and let them look at it. Was going to delearship and noticed a llight knocking in my engine then all of a sudden lost power. Was able to coast out of traffic and onto a curb. Truck would not start or even try, yet every light and such still worked. Had taken to dealership and this morning was told it was the engine.

While I was driving, the dash screen read "Press start button" and suddenly the vehicle loss engine power and I had to veer to the far right lane. Luckily the cars around me swerved away. I had initially called OnStar, but when the police arrived they told me I couldn't wait for Onstar as I was impeding traffic so they called a local tow truck and they towed it to my house. From my house, OnStar towed it to the GMC dealership. The dealership stated the engine has locked up and needs a whole new engine replacement.

While driving along [XXX] in northern Arkansas the on [XXX] my 2023 GMC Sierra Denali's 6.2 engine suddenly locked up causing us to pull on to the shoulder of the road - nearly causing an accident. The vehicle had 23000 miles on it at the time. We were towing a two horse trailer with one horse aboard. At our expense, we had the vehicle and trailer towed back to St. Louis, MO then to O'Fallon Buick GMC. The dealer replaced the entire engine under warranty with a used rebuilt engine. They have omitted the engine replacement from the vehicle history report in CARFAX. The dealer had handled a number of 6.2 engine failures prior to this one. The contact owns a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving on the highway at 75 MPH, all of the warning lights on the instrument panel had illuminated, the contact depressed the brakes and the vehicle would not brake in a panic the contact quickly steered into the left lane, pumped the brakes frantically, and the vehicle was finally able to come to a stop. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed, the contact was advised that the failure experienced was due to a faulty battery and that it would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 28,550.

The contact owns a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at various speeds, the rear liftgate door erroneously opened. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the exterior touchpad switch assembly was faulty and needed to be replaced. The touchpad switch assembly was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V060000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). I was driving on a rural and narrow 2 lane road with next to no shoulder when my engine started losing power. There were no check engine lights or other indicators of failure until the final 2 seconds. At that point, a message popped up on the dash stating something along the lines that my engine oil was too hot and to idle the engine. 2 seconds later, at 50mph my engine died. That is scary enough, but I was also towing a 5,000lb+ trailer, it was -3F, heavy winds, and I had my 2 dogs with me. Thankfully, I kept my wits about me, remained calm, and made it to the side of the road. As mentioned, there was not much shoulder so this put me in great danger of being hit by careless drivers speeding by. The nearest police officer was an hour away, so I was in quite a predicament. Had this happened to most other people, the narrative would have ended much differently. Come to find out, this is a common issue with these 6.2l engines. So much so, that there is a backorder on the engines due to the high replacement demand. This poses extreme danger not only "in the moment" of failure, but also the environmental dangers/risks users are potentially exposed to, just as I was. This needs to be a recall as this is a substantial and immediate safety issue in my opinion.

Potential Consequences:
When driving leaving my home and about 2 miles in operation the truck lost power. Not realizing quite what was happening looking at the instrument panel I noticed a drop in RPM and speed. There were no other indicators of problems and The check engine light didn't come on. Instinctively i pushed the accelerator down with no response. Now realizing that the truck was having problems I tried to get off the road. The area of malfunction was not a good place to stop and did the best I could, the truck half out of the traffic lane. In trying to restart the truck which turned over but would not restart. I felt it was acting like it ran out of fuel, checking the fuel gage which indicated 3/4 tank. The truck was towed to the dealership. During the intake conversion the employee stated " it's probably the fuel control module " which I thought was odd at the time with no one even looking at the truck. Defect Description:
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Potential Consequences:
The issues with my vehicle began when the radio intermittently cut off or froze. Despite several attempts by the dealer to resolve the problem, they were unsuccessful. Early on, various electrical components failed to load or perform correctly, with the dealer attributing this to software updates. Currently, when the radio cuts off or freezes, I experience additional problems: the headlights randomly flash between dim and bright, the heads-up display fails to load or shows incomplete information, the collision detection activates with no objects around, and dynamic cruise control becomes unreliable or fails to engage. The wipers operate randomly, and the vehicle stalls when the auto start/stop feature is engaged. Random warning lights appear on the dash, and each day brings new, different issues. A new symptom involves the vehicle not recognizing the keys are inside, causing it to shut off and lock me inside. This recently happened while I was driving at low speed in a parking lot, which poses a serious safety risk. On the interstate, safety issues are more concerning: headlights flashing on and off, dynamic cruise control failing, BLIS and collision control activating unexpectedly, and the vehicle locking me inside with keys in the truck. My children are scared to ride in the vehicle due to these issues. The dealer claims they cannot replicate the problems, despite videos I’ve provided showing malfunctions. They acknowledge the issues but blame them on software updates. Multiple updates have been applied, but the problems continue and are becoming more frequent, affecting more systems. The vehicle is under warranty, but as of December 13, 2024, the dealer has refused to service it. After the dealer completed some work, an independent inspection confirmed the issues persist. Warning messages and malfunctioning lamps have been captured on video. Problem has been reported from first service approximately 6/2023 as radio malfunction / electrical issues
