Potential Consequences:
During a moderate cruise speed, 15-35 mph, the vehicle will produce a shudder. The vehicle shakes as if riding on rumble strips. It can replicated by coasting and resting the foot on the brake lever. It does not occur every time but it is disjointing when it does occur. This would occur 3-7 times a week. The way I’ve found to stop it is to apply the brakes or the apply acceleration. Such maneuvers become unpredictable, and novice drivers may over react. There is also an issue where coming from a fast speed down to a lower speed the vehicle starts to vibrate violently until I either press the gas or press the break. On Monday the 27th of March, 2023 I drove the truck home and there was no issues. When I went to go drive the vehicle on Tuesday morning to work, the 28th, it didn't start. There was no power to the vehicle and it wouldn't even turn over. I tested the truck battery and it was completely dead. Wednesday the 29th I called the dealership to report the issue and they asked for a reason to why the vehicle wouldn't start. I couldn't give then a reason so they asked me to get the truck towed. I got contacted by the service department at the dealership to get more information from me but I haven't heard back from them. Its been over a week and I still haven't heard from the dealership. The dealership is University Ford in Durham, phone number 919-999-2928. They said I needed a appointment but I couldn't have scheduled an appointment without knowing there was going to be an issue with the truck.

TSB 22-2493 has been issued for my vehicle and I have been experiencing the braking problem for a year. The problem is intermittent and that causes a safety issue because you never know when you are going to be jerked to a stop. I describe it like the braking you get with a new driver that just pushes the brake to the floor. You never know when your car is going implement a panic stop and throw you forward. What I am experiencing is not a feature of Hybrid braking. It is intermittent so it is may not occur on a test drive. I have taken to my truck to my FORD dealer for the resolution of the TSB but the software update was not installed because they could not replicate the problem.

I recalled one time I was driving between cars in a parking lot, it makes that noise, and a couple that was having a conversation next to their car thought I hit their car after they hear the noise, they were even looking for damages on their car and looking at me.

There are thousands of other folks having the same issue, Ford needs to repair this before someone becomes seriously hurt.

Potential Consequences:
I was rear-ended while stopped at a red-light by an inattentive driver. The resulting impact cause the power driver's seat to drop to the end if it's track and the backrest to drop down onto the rear bench. If there was a passenger behind me at the time of the accident, they would have been crushed by the seat with the headrest potentially crushing their chest, while their legs would have been crushed due to the seat suddenly sliding so far back. Motors in seat still function, but cannot move seat. When attempting to lower the backrest a clicking noise can be heard.

Potential Consequences:
The brakes on the Maverick are grabby and unpredictable when applying them when driving less than ten mph. When the brakes are grabby, the vehicle comes to an abrupt stop, and a loud noise is heard from under the hood. It is inconsistent and makes driving in parking lots, backing out of my driveway, or any place where I need to drive much slower than normal more dangerous. I have taken it to the dealer, and they have not addressed the issue. After only a few minutes on the internet, it seems this is a known issue and a potential safety concern for both the Maverick drivers and those outside the Maverick (other drivers or pedestrians). There are no safety lights or warnings that appear when the brakes instantly grab and lock. It is jarring and escalates the already anxiousness of driving. Having unpredictable brakes is a danger.

Issue: Gasoline engine shutdown unexpectedly while driving. The following identical events occurred once each on June 14 and June 15, 2021. In both instances I was driving northbound with the (adaptive) cruise control set at 72 miles per hour, with Driver Alert enabled, and with extreme west-to-east crosswinds in excess of 50 mph per highway warning signage. While driving I received several driver alert messages – assumed to be due to the high crosswinds – which I ignored as I was not drowsy. Then without warning the gas engine shutdown and would not re-engage (pressed the accelerator to the floorboard), requiring me to quickly move to the shoulder of the roadway before the vehicle came to a complete stop. I shutoff the ignition, waited for about 30 seconds, and then restarted the vehicle and continued driving without further incident each day despite the fact that the wind persisted and the Driver Alert messages continued. This happened once on two consecutive days and has not occurred since, making note of the fact that I have not driven in severe wind conditions since. Fortunately these two events occurred in sparsely populated areas of Wyoming and Montana with fewer vehicles on the roadway, had it happened on a more densely traveled highway the safety of myself and others could have been at risk.

Under rapid acceleration requiring over 50% of the engine's power, the computer system detects a "fault" and shuts down the engine. This has occurred five times in the last 4 months while attempting to merge onto freeways, interstates, and local roads. In every instance, the engine shut-down cause oncoming vehicles to rapidly slow down in order to not hit my vehicle and I had to pull off to the side of the road to let the computer system "reset" in order to continue my travels. The problem was brought to the attention of the local Ford dealer twice (will be going back based on recent occurrence of March 5, 2023 ). There were no warning lamps, messages, or other systems prior to the problem occurring. This problem has occurred on December 8, 2022; December 12, 2022; December 23, 2022; March 2, 2023; and March 5, 2023.
