Ford Motor Company
NHTSA Campaign: 22V413000 SAFETY RECALL
2.9M Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: Jun 10, 2022
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.

Potential Risk:
A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S43.
Additional Details:

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Recall Date: Aug 11, 2020
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Ford Edge and 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX vehicles. The front brake hoses may rupture prematurely.

Potential Risk:
A ruptured front brake hose will cause a brake fluid leak, lengthening the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake hoses with the new hoses that have a revised braid material, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. An interim letter notifying owners of the safety risk was mailed September 21, 2020. A second letter will be sent once parts are available, which is expected to begin April 15, 2021. ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

Have misfiring when starting car -Had check engine light come on with code p302 ( cylinder 2 misfire). I had the spark plugs replaced, problem continued then had the ignition coil in cylinder 2 replaced to diagnose if it was firing problem or in the motor. Turns out the long block (engine )will need replace do to ford coolant leak in cylinder ,witch may cause overheating- engine loss - as bad as engine fires. Whats worse is that the new engine is the same 2.0 ecoboost engine with high chane of same issue happening again. All of this was over a 2 month period with a certified mechanic trying to diagnose every time. All active recalls have been done and done by ford dealer also. The potential of a fire or engine loss in any of these ecoboost motors is high a risk.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

My 2017 Ford Edge Titanium is in Pep Boys shop having the engine block replaced due to coolant leaking into the cylinders. This issue has been diagnosed by my mechanic and could have been a possible fire hazard. The engine overheats to extreme temperatures causing the engine to catch fire. The engine light came on while I was driving car. The engine also alerted me by voice in the car that it was reducing my speed and power to the the motor due to overheating. After 3 different mechanics assessed the situation it was determined that the engine coolant was leaking into the cylinders. The engine has been replaced now. This has apparently affected other models.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

Engine light came on. Took vehicle to Villa Ford of Orange. They hooked up a code reader and said 2 codes came up: misfire and spark plug. They couldn’t look at it that day so I took it to Fullerton Ford, they said come back first thing The next morning. Took it back To Fullerton Ford, they looked at it and told me there coolant in the engine and the engine was blown. I bought this vehicle brand new 7 years ago. I only have 42,131 miles on it. It is not out of warranty by mileage but is out of warranty by years. All of the maintenance has been done by Villa Ford of Orange. There has been no negligence on my part. And no reason for the engine to have blown with only 42,000 miles on it. This is definitely a defective engine and have heard of others with this same issue with this engine. Ford needs to step up to the plate and recall this engine. Thank you in advance for your help.
