Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.

Potential Risk:
A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S43.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Ford Edge and 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX vehicles. The front brake hoses may rupture prematurely.

Potential Risk:
A ruptured front brake hose will cause a brake fluid leak, lengthening the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake hoses with the new hoses that have a revised braid material, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. An interim letter notifying owners of the safety risk was mailed September 21, 2020. A second letter will be sent once parts are available, which is expected to begin April 15, 2021. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 13, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S42.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ, 2015-2016 Ford Edge, and 2016 Lincoln MKX vehicles originally sold, or currently registered in Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Road salt or other contaminants may corrode the electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts.

Potential Risk:
If the bolts corrode, the steering gear motor may detach from the gear housing resulting in a loss of power steering assist, requiring a greater steering effort, especially at lower speeds, and increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gear motor bolts and apply a wax sealer. If any of the steering gear motor attachment bolts are broken or missing, a new steering gear will be installed in the vehicle. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began October 18, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S26.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles and 2017 Lincoln Continental vehicles. In the event of a crash, the driver's frontal air bag may not fully inflate or the air bag cushion may detach from the air bag module. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Potential Risk:
During deployment, if the air bag does not fully inflate or the cushion detaches, there is an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver frontal air bag module, free of charge. The recall began June 16, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 17C02.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured February 9, 2015, to August 12, 2016. During dealer servicing, the affected vehicles may be have been updated with incorrect Antilock Brake System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) software. This software can cause the ESC system to lose engine torque control, and not provide any warning lamps to warn the driver if there was an ABS or ESC system malfunction. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems" and number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

Potential Risk:
If the operator is not warned of an ABS or ESC malfunction and the ESC loses engine torque control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ABS module, and update the service software, free of charge. The recall begin November 22, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16C14.

Rough idling on start up and engine light came on. After taking car to a local repair shop, mechanic noticed that vehicle was consuming coolant and the engine was cracked. They advised taking it to dealer. Ford dealer confirmed diagnosis. Vehicle had 93304 miles on it and Ford has a Technical service bulletin out on it. Was originally quoted $6,000 to replace engine. After a lot of negotiating with Ford Customer Satisfaction Program, we paid $1,685 to replace engine. Ford has known about this issue for quite a while and in my opinion, should have issued a recall. There have been reports from others that the engine has caught fire.

Corrective Action:

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

Started months ago on the highway, now in the streets too. Press the gas, car goes then suddenly loses power. Going at 60 mph on highway, car suddenly starts to go slow, and pressing the gas doesn't move the car not even a mile higher. Semi trucks begin to honk horns at you. Afraid now to take highway again. Soon as I exit highway, press the gas and the car doesn't want to shift, almost as if it gets stuck. Continue driving on street and when turning, the car doesn't want to go. Ford had it for 3 days but didn't find anything. Have read posts and found one person with same issue that said it's code 2111, having to do with the throttle. So many people with the same issue and no recalls. It's dangerous to drive on highway now.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

My 2016 Ford Edge with a 2.0L engine has a crack in the upper compartment of #1 cylinder. This is allowing coolant intrusion in to the cylinder causing a misfire. Ford has issued a service bulletin for the issue 22-2229. My vehicle has 89615 miles on it, and has been properly maintained over the years. This seems like from a quick google search is a wide spread problem with these vehicles. Will there be a recall or some type of relief from the cost of this repair?

Corrective Action:

My 2016 Ford Edge with a 2.0L engine has a crack in the upper compartment of #1 cylinder. This is allowing coolant intrusion in to the cylinder causing a misfire. Ford has issued a service bulletin for the issue 22-2229. My vehicle has 89615 miles on it, and has been properly maintained over the years. This seems like from a quick google search is a wide spread problem with these vehicles. Will there be a recall or some type of relief from the cost of this repair?

The cars are suddenly catching on fire or seizing while being driven!!!! I had it towed to Ford who told me the Transmission was bad and it would be covered under Ford's #22N12 bulletin on 5-30-23. I was shocked the transmission was also bad! I than asked the dealer what about the motor? It's seized as I told you 4 days earlier due to coolant intrusion? The mechanic will check that also, I will call Ford again, re the motor. 2 days later, after I called the dealer, he verified the cylinder intrusion in #2. He informed me that it would not be covered! Now their giving me the run around re tsb 19-2346 bulletin. Which never was sent to any of the owners, of these dangerous cars! The Dealer is putting together a parts list, the cost is around 7,000! My car has been serviced at the recommended schedule. Ford's quality has gone from safe, to dangerous, unreliable and defective! Took vehicle in for update of SYNC system which worked when I dropped it off. Mechanic called said the system wasn't holding charge. Next day they called said vehicle was ready for pickup. Picked up got in and my SYNC system wouldn't turn on. That includes radio,Bluetooth, navigation, backup camera,USB port anything that system controls doesn't work. No mechanic checks for the APIM to see if it is faulty. Now place is saying I have to pay to fix. Extended warranty doesn't cover says it's upgrade not update, even though Fordpass and SYNC system said there was an update for it. I tried to update system and wouldn't let me, both ways I tried to update. Fordpass tried something then said I'd have to take to certified dealer which I did.if nobody checks on the part when it's inspected, how does one know if bad part or not. Plus my 2016 vehicle when looking in SYNC system said last update was in 2003? Picture is showing SYNC system was working also have 5-7 people who can say was working til I brought to place for update. Can provide video and or pictures of my dark screen if needed. This is in multiple vehicles, class action law suits, engines over heating, some catch fire. Ford needs to be investigated for defective motors in these vehicles.
