Defect Description:
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
Potential Consequences:
Service lights for ABS and traction control systems constantly going on and off during vehicle use, these system failures disable cruise control systems. Truck is at dealer and they have said it needs new hydraulic control unit and ABS parts totaling over $2000 in parts alone, without an idea of when the parts will be available. This seems to be a common failure as I have read many posts of other Ram owners with the same issues.

SERVICE BRAKES
Potential Consequences:
In December of 2022 my abs light came on. Took truck to dealership to diagnose the problem. I was informed that it was the abs module or abs pump. I was told to replace both parts because the code it’s reporting there is no way to determine which part is bad. Ram has the parts back ordered until August. there is a definite difference the way the truck handles especially with a trailer. The tuck also handles terrible in adverse conditions as the traction control is rendered useless when the abs light is on.

SERVICE BRAKES
Potential Consequences:
I have a 2018 ram diesel 4x4 tradesman .around 19,000 miles my service antilock brake system light comes on and off and Abs , traction control. Took it where I bought it and of course the parts was out of warranty so they told me they don’t know if and when my parts will ever come in. But if they do it’s going to cost me 1500 $ and change to fix it. I think for the money I paid for my truck it should have a working brake system in place and should not fail with 19,000 miles on it for no good reason. So this is the million dollar question do I drive this potentially dangerous vehicle? Will it stop? Will traction control work? I paid a lot of money for a truck that I can’t even buy parts for if I wanted to fix it. So keep in mind the safety stuff on this truck is designed to work with the weight of the truck and all the torque it has. Oh yea if you’re brave you could buy used ones on e- bay for $150 dollars. What a joke! Sorry for rambling on. Just how important are brakes? I think dodge should do the right thing and fix these issue’s because it’s their product that is failing. I guess I have to drive a potentially dangerous vehicle. Stay safe.

Potential Consequences:
I revered my truck up a slight incline in reverse in 4 wheel drive. After I stopped in reverse I removed my vehicle out of 4 wheel drive back into 2 wheel drive. I put the transmission in park and removed my key. I unloaded items from the back of the truck. During this period the truck began to move forward down the incline building up speed as it went. It struck a tree stump and came to rest there. No one was in the vehicle and I confirmed when I got in it was still in the parked position. It appears the vehicle never engaged the transmission to the parked position.

Potential Consequences:
ABS and Traction control lights on for a know issue involving the HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) and ABS Module. My 3/4 ton truck has no ABS and no Traction control and I live in Michigan! It is dangerous and RAM has no answers for me as the parts are on back order and no real estimate of when they are available. This is frustrating to say the least. Especially when a quick internet search will show that 1000's upon 1000's of RAM owners are having the same issue. If this is a known problem, why is RAM not fixing it? Why did they continue to produce these trucks with a known safety issue? I ha e filed a case with RAM Cares and nothing is being done. I have been a faithful RAM/Dodge customer my whole life and I don't think RAM will be my next truck. This unresolved and potentially dangerous known issue has taken my loyalty away. This must get resolved! I have been fighting to try and get this fixed since September of 2022!!!! It is now March of 2023!!! I was unable to use my 2018 truck to drive in Michigan winter because it is unsafe to drive. If I get in an accident with my truck, with RAM knowing I have an issue and will not fix it, are they responsible for injury/loss of life/property damage??? My lawyer sure thinks so.

Potential Consequences:
Constant ABS and ESC failure. truck experiences constant ABS failure. Warning for ABS and Electronic Stability control continually flashes and sends audible alarm when vehicle is operating, multiple times per MINUTE (sometime 20+ times per MINUTE). Vehicle was taken to dealer. Upon arrival at dealer was already aware of the issue and stated this was a known and common problem and that ABS module and HCU would need to be replaced, PRIOR to any diagnostic work being completed. Dealer completed diagnostic work and confirmed ABS module and HCU was defective and needed to be replaced at customer cost as Chrysler/Dodge/Ram refused to voluntarily cover/recall this part even though it was widespread known issue. However dealer stated that parts were on National back order and they had a long wait list. Dealer could not give timeframe but stated it would be 6+ months, that was over 1 yr ago. Part still shows as back order. My research has confirmed dealer statement that this is common wide spread issue for this make/model/yr due to defective parts. Any assistance possible would be appreciated at Ram continues to drivers at risk everyday by failing to voluntarily recall part or even make parts available so repair can be completed

Defect Description:
SERVICE BRAKES
Potential Consequences:
I am filing a complaint because my 2018 Ram 2500 has been in the shop waiting for the ABS hydraulic unit since January. I don't understand why there are so many people in need of this part, I am a cattle rancher and I need my truck to haul my cattle to livestock shows. I was told by my service repairman that it would be April then they called back and said August. This is totally unacceptable!!

Potential Consequences:
The ABS system is malfunctioning due to bad abs modules that most 2017 and 2018 ram trucks had issues with. This is causing the truck to have no abs or traction control.

Defect Description:
SERVICE BRAKES
Potential Consequences:
This complaint is based on the repeated failure of the vehicle's ABS/Traction control system and the lack of a repair solution from Ram. The failure starts as an infrequent (once per trip or so) fault and immediate clear of the ABS system with an audible alarm and dashboard message. Over the course of a few hundred miles the problem worsens to the point where it it faulting as often as every 1-1/2 to 2 seconds. (It is like driving with the seatbelt warning going off). Sometimes it will stay faulted or cleared for several seconds to minutes at a time. In the beginning of the failure process it seemed to go away once the engine got fully warm, after about 10 minutes of driving. This problem was diagnosed and repaired at a diesel specialty garage with replacement of the ABS Control Module and Electric Stability Control Unit. Reprogramming was performed by a Ram Technician. After about 7000 miles the problem returned, following the same failure pattern. The same shop inspected and and repaired a loose connector, another known deficiency in the system. However, this didn't fix the issue. The alarm started before I moved the vehicle (after paying for the repair). At that point I was told that there was no solution, and in fact there were four other trucks there with the same issue. The parts are under warranty but I am left paying for labor to install equipment that seems will fail fairly shortly. And I am left with a completely unreliable ABS system. The failure doesnt seem dependant on speed, road conditions, outside temperature, or towing/empty.
