On August 29, 2019 Chrysler expanded the recall to include an additional 693,128 model year 2013-2014 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks. The tailgate actuator limiter tab may fracture and cause the tailgate to unlatch and open while driving.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of less than 10,000 lbs, 2011-2017 Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles, 2009-2017 Ram 1500 and 2010-2017 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks, all equipped with a column shifter. Pushing the brake pedal for prolonged periods when the vehicle is running and in PARK may cause the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) pin to stick in the open position. With the pin in the open position, the transmission can be shifted out of PARK into any gear without pushing the brake pedal or having the key in the ignition.

AFTER THE NEW UPDATE THAT WAS FORCED ON THE ECO DIESELS OWNERS, I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATING AFTER STARTING UP AND TAKING OFF. WE HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS LAG IN ACCELERATION. IT GETS A LITTLE BETTER AS IT WARMS UP BUT NOT MUCH BETTER. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN TRYING TO GET OUT IN AN INTERSECTION OR GET TO THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. ONE TIME I WAS PULLING OUT INTO AN INTERSECTION AND I HAD THE PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR AND NOTHING, IF I WAS FURTHER BACK ON THE HILL I'D PROBABLY WOULD HAVE GONE BACKWARDS. STILL HAPPENS.

AROUND 2 WEEKS LATER DID IT WHILE DRIVING, HAD CRUISE SET AT 75, IN THE LEFT LANE PASSING 2 VEHICLES AND ENGINE SHUT OFF IT FLASHED LOW OIL PRESSURE, I COASTED TO RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY MADE CALLS AND WAITED 15 MINUTES AND IT RESTARTED. SCHEDULED AND MADE APPOINTMENT WITH RAM DEALERSHIP, AFTER CHECKING COMPUTER AND CHANGING OIL AND FILTER FOUND NOTHING. DEALERSHIP SAID SHOULD HAVE LEFT ERROR ON COMPUTER. PICTURE WAS TAKEN OF PROOF OF OIL LIGHT AFTER BEING SHUT DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY.TOOK TO DEALERSHIP ON 9/3/2019 WITH 40,727 MILES ON RAM 1500 ECO-DIESEL TRUCK DATES ARE 8/20 AND 8/25/2019 WHEN THIS OCCURRED.

SCHEDULED AND MADE APPOINTMENT WITH RAM DEALERSHIP, AFTER CHECKING COMPUTER AND CHANGING OIL AND FILTER FOUND NOTHING. DEALERSHIP SAID SHOULD HAVE LEFT ERROR ON COMPUTER. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT TO BE A COOLANT HOSE RUPTURE DUE TO THE COLOR OF THE SMOKE/STEAM. I IMMEDIATELY JUMPED OUT AND OPENED THE HOOD THINKING IT WAS A COOLANT ISSUE. RIGHT AWAY I NOTICED A FLAME AT THE REAR OF THE ENGINE. I HAD NO ACCESS TO WATER WHERE I WAS LOCATED AND MY ONLY OPTION WAS TO BLOW IT OUT. IT WORKED FOR ME BUT PROBABLY ONLY BECAUSE I HAD GOT TO THE FIRE BEFORE IT WAS ABLE TO SPREAD TOO QUICK. FIRE/RESCUE WAS DISPATCHED, REMOVED ENGINE COVER AND NOTICED SMOLDERING PLASTIC/WIRE HARNESS AND DOUSED WITH 4-5 CUPS OF WATER UNTIL ALL TRACES OF FIRE WERE GONE. TOW TRUCK DELIVERED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP APPROX 10 MILES FROM WHERE VEHICLE WAS DISABLED. *DT *TR

DRIVING HOME FROM WORK 22 AUGUST 2019, AN 8 MILE DRIVE. I WENT TO ACCELERATE TO REACH POSTED SPEED LIMIT AFTER TURNING OFF OF A SIDE STREET ONTO MAIN ROAD. I HAD NO FORWARD MOMENTUM WHEN I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. I ATTEMPTED SEVERAL TIMES TO MANUALLY SHIFT GEARS THINKING IT WAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. THE ENGINE WOULD REV UP TO RPM BUT STILL BARELY ANY FORWARD MOMENTUM. I WAS LOSING SPEED QUICKLY. SOMETHING GRABBED MY ATTENTION, NOT SURE IF I HEARD SOMETHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY BUT I HAPPENED TO LOOK OUT MY REVIEW AND SIDE MIRRORS AND NOTICE A HUGE PLUME OF SMOKE EXITING MY VEHICLE. AT ABOUT THAT SAME MOMENT, I NOTICED A LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT FROM THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED INTO A DRIVEWAY AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS OFF, I STILL NOTICED A LARGE AMOUNT OF WHITE SMOKE BILLOWING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND FRONT WHEEL WELLS. V08 AEM RECALL PERFORMED ON 6/4/19. POST RECALL, LOSS IN FUEL ECONOMY, REDUCED POWER ESPECIALLY WHEN TOWING, AND SEVERE TURBO LAG LASTING FOUR TO SEVEN SECONDS. THE SEVERE TURBO LAG IS CAUSING UNSAFE CONDITIONS WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE. THE LACK OF ACCELERATION WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS PRESSED IS PRESENT WHEN STARTING FROM A COMPLETE STOP, AS WELL AS AT VARYING TRAVEL SPEEDS. IT IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WHEN MAKING LEFT AND RIGHT TURNS ON CITY STREETS OR WHEN MERGING INTO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC, BECAUSE THERE IS LITTLE TO NO ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE, EVEN UNDER FULL THROTTLE FOR BETWEEN FOUR AND SEVEN SECONDS.
