ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
1) Compromised Battery (a battery purchased in August of 2021 from Interstate Battery|Camp Bowie Blvd|FortWorthTx) 2) Moritz Service Team explained some batteries (via the 3 manufacturers) can have a fail rate or be bad batteries 3) Moritz could not replicate extent of the issues we experienced with a collapsed electrical system on 02.24.2022. 4) Moritz could not explain why the 3rd party purchased battery was “discharged” completely after driving the Jeep and stopping for a short period resulting in the collapse of electrical system. 5) Moritz Team and GM had no explanation for the replacement of 3 batteries for this Jeep in a short period of < 3 years. 6) Moritz Team and GM suggested they have no knowledge of this Jeep product having these type of electrical issues. (See link: https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2018/JEEP/WRANGLER/SUV/4WD%252520Later%252520Release#safety-ratings-frontal) 7) Moritz Service Team and GM recommended returning the battery to its place of purchase for a warranty trade in. 8) Moritz Service Team and GM proposed if a repeat of this event occurs that: A) Moritz Service Team provide a more expansed evaluation of this issue (requiring our solo mode of transportation to be in the shop for an extended period) B) Should Moritz Service Team be unable to identify and replicate issue: a STAR report be submitted to escalate issue to next level engineers for Moritz. As an update: We delivered the Jeep with the 3rd party purchased battery back to Interstate Battery as recommended (following our meeting). Multiple tests were performed and noted that the 12V 48 AGM 60 G-48 (SLI48AGMDP) battery registered each time above 775. ISSUE UNRESOLVED: The issue remains how a fully charged battery (with no effect of user error), driven appropriately, resulted in a full electrical collapse of this Jeep Wrangler Unltd. Rubicon JL system within 30 minutes of the ignition beiNG turned off and attempted restart. MFG 10.2018

Driver's side sun visor mount failed while driving. Had visor unclipped to block sun in driver's door window while driving on freeway. Mount broke and the visor unexpectedly hit me on the left side of my head, startling me and and almost caused an accident. The wires from the HomeLink switch group was the only thing that stopped it from falling off. From reading online this is a pretty common problem. There are aftermarket parts to fix the problem.

Dealer refused to acknowledge problem, did not wish to see photos or video. The repair was completed elsewhere. December 29th - While driving on the highway I hear a loud bang and pull over. Turns out my front lower control arm mount COMPLETELY BREAKS OFF my frame (See attached photos). I call my dealership (Zappone CDJR in Clifton Park NY), they can’t get me in for a few weeks due to their availability. I get a major favor and get an extremely reputable, nationally known, off-road manufacture to fix it for me. While I am there, they tell me - take it in to the dealership, a lot of your welds need to be looked at. Apparently someone attempted to touch up some of the welds by hand, but didn’t do a great job. I purchased this JLUR brand new, actually ordered it from factory so no outside work was done on it. Feb 21st - Finally get it in to the dealership, explain to them the situation and without even looking at it, I already get hit with the “well hopefully your lift didn’t cause it” by the service advisor (Jeff Coon). I even reference the TSB out about welds and get told “well TSBs aren’t covered under warranty its an out of pocket expense”. So I call the support center and get told the same thing frame is not covered under my extended warranty, and my standard warranty is out. Ultimately I get told “inspected frame from star cases and damage to frame is not a known issue and is caused by off reading abuse and aftermarket lift kit and would put pressure on welds. Technician found would not be considered factory warranty due to aftermarket lift kit installed.
Corrective Action:
Frame Welds failed, causing the lower control arm to completely detach from vehicle while driving on highway. Yes, it is available for inspection upon request. Yes, my safety was put at risk. Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
1. Engine 2. Yes. I was on a major highway when the Jeep wouldn't go above 10 miles per hour and almost causing me to get rear ended. 3. I had it at the dealer at least 4 times, they can't find the problem. They replaced ABS controller, still they can't find the problem. 4. The vehicle was inspected by the dealer, not even sure how it passed state inspection. 5. Every warning light came up on the dashboard. The problem started in November 2021. The last incident happened on the night of 2/19, this time the vehicle would go pass first gear...I was driving 10mph.

Defect Description:
POWER TRAIN:CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
Potential Consequences:
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, his wife noticed a strong burning odor coming from underneath the vehicle. . The contact's wife drove the vehicle out of the garage and parked outside. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission clutch was fractured, had failed, and had a burning smell. The dealer also diagnosed that the engine RPMs rev up between shifts of the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact became aware that the recall for NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V028000 (POWER TRAIN) was completed on the vehicle in 2021 to prevent transmission clutch failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that the dealer would need to disassemble the transmission and the clutch further for proof that the failure is related to the recall for NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V028000 (POWER TRAIN). The manufacturer also advised the contact that he would need to commit $600 before the dealer disassemble the transmission and clutch. The contact declined. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.

AIR BAGS
Potential Consequences:
When driving, at random times my dash lights all come on and the following components say that they're unavailable: ABS Electronic Stability Control Sway Bar Disconnect Stop/Start Blind Spot Alert I will then lose my power steering. My speedometer, RPM, and fuel gauges will drop to 0. This has happened both when driving around the neighborhood and while driving on the highway. I have been to two different dealers three different times and they have been able to reproduce and confirm the issue. But they have been unable to fix the problem. Researching the issue myself, I have found several examples of other owners having this same problem. Examples can be found on carcomplaints.com and jlwranglerforums.com. I don't know how many other cars must have this issue before action is taken by the manufacturer, but I consider the loss of power steering and the airbag system a significant safety issue. My vehicle is available for inspection at any time.
