Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Jeep Renegade 4X2 flex fuel/E85 vehicles equipped with a 2.4L engine. In certain operating conditions such as high power demand in conjunction with high altitude and/or high ambient temperatures, a manufacturing error in the fuel pump assembly may result in a loss of fuel pressure.

Potential Risk:
A loss of fuel pressure can cause a stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. The recall began April 26, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is UB2.

Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2017 Jeep Renegade vehicles equipped with a 2.4L engine. These vehicles may be equipped with a cracked oil pump housing/balance shaft module (BSM), which can cause the oil pump to fail and the engine to stall.

Potential Risk:
An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the oil pump for its production information, and replace the BSM as necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 13, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U18.

Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2017 Jeep Renegade vehicles. Due to a software issue, multiple malfunction indicator lamps may illuminate on the instrument panel when no malfunction exists. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Control and Displays."

Potential Risk:
If the malfunction indicator lamps illuminate at incorrect times, the driver may be unaware when a true malfunction occurs, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the Instrument Panel Control software, free of charge. The recall began on September 14, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T50.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES. CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THIS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO BE INVOLVED IN A CAR CRASH. THIS OCCURRED THREE TIMES WITHIN 24 HOURS WITH MY CAR. TOOK THE CAR TO JEEP SERVICE AND THE ATTENDANT STATED THAT THIS CAR "CONSUMES 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES" AND THAT I SHOULD CALL CORPORATE. WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR TO JEEP IT WAS OUT OF OIL WITH NO WARNING OF A NEED FOR AN OIL CHANGE OR THAT I WAS LOW ON OIL. WHEN I BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP I WAS NOT MADE AWARE THAT I WOULD NEED TO CHANGE THE OIL THIS OFTEN AND THAT THIS CAR "CONSUMES" THIS MUCH OIL REQUIRING CONSTANT SERVICE. IT IS ALSO NOT STATED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. THE ISSUE WITH THIS CAR COULD CAUSE A HORRIBLE COLLISION, AS WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION IT COMPLETELY TURNS OFF THE ENGINE. WHEN THIS HAPPENED TO ME I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN AND WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS TO ACCELERATE THE CAR JUST ROLLED BECAUSE THE ENGINE WAS SHUT OFF AND I HAD NO POWER STEERING. AS THIS OCCURRED ANOTHER CAR WAS COMING, LUCKILY THEY HAD A STOP SIGN.

Corrective Action:

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

I PURCHASED MY 2017 JEEP RENEGADE BRAND NEW AT THE END OF JANUARY 2018. I WAS TOLD TO BRING MY CAR IN AT 5000 MILES FOR AN OIL CHANGE. RIGHT BEFORE MY OIL CHANGE WAS DUE, WHILE DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT, I MADE A TURN AND SAW A LOW ENGINE PRESSURE LIGHT AND THEN MY ENGINE TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING. MY HUSBAND & I MET WITH THE JEEP DEALER AND THE SHOP MANAGER SAID THE ENGINE WAS JUST "BREAKING IN" AND USED UP THE OIL. THIS WASN'T SOMETHING WE HAD HEARD OF BEFORE. THEY DID AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND AFTER ALL THAT WAS DONE, THEY SAID IT WAS FINE AND IT WOULDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. I'VE TAKEN MY CAR IN LIKE CLOCK-WORK TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED. THIS WEEK, WITH STILL 300 MILES TO GO UNTIL MY NEXT OIL CHANGE, MY LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN A HILL ON A BUSY MAIN ROAD. THE DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME AGAIN "THIS CAR JUST USES OIL". THEY CONFIRMED I WAS 2.5 QUARTS LOW. WE HAVE 2 RENEGADES IN THE FAMILY, MY DAUGHTER'S 2015 RENEGADE THAT WE BOUGHT IN 2017 WITH ONLY 2500 MILES ON IT DOESN'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I AM NOW GETTING A SECOND OIL CONSUMPTION TEST RUN. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND SCARY. I SEE THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2017 JEEP RENEGADES FOR A CRACKED OIL PUMP ISSUE. MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT YET IT HAS THE SAME SYMPTOMS. I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW CAR SO THAT I WOULDN'T HAVE "USED CAR" ISSUES. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND I'M GETTING NERVOUS MY CAR WILL JUST TURN OFF AND I WILL BE IN AN ACCIDENT THE NEXT TIME AS I'VE BEEN LUCKY SO FAR.

AIR BAGS

Potential Consequences:

PURCHASED 4/20/2017 THE PROBLEMS BEGAN WITH THE AC GOING OUT AT 10000MILES. THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T WANT TO FIX IT TOLD US TO DRIVE WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN. AFTER ARGUING ABOUT OUR WARRANTY WE GOT A LOANER. NEXT THEY REPLACED THE WIRING HARNESS 2 TIMES. AGAIN, DID NOT WANT TO PROVIDE LOANER HAD TO COMPLAIN FOR THEM TO HONOR WARRANTY AGREEMENT. THEN TRANSMISSION SKIPS AND RADIO FREQUENCY HUB WAS REPLACED TWICE WHILE IN THE SHOP FOR 4 MONTHS FROM DEC 14 2018 TILL AROUND MARCH 17 2019. STEERING MODULE REPLACED DUE TO THE STEERING WHEEL IN THE CENTER GETTING COMPLETELY HOT. COMPLAINED ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION SKIPPING STILL. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALWAYS COMES ON. AUTOMATIC START FAULTY. WILL ATTACH ALL REPAIR INVOICES. MOST RECENT! 5/6/2019, A MONDAY THE CAR WAS SCHEDULED DUE TO A RECALL ON THE FUEL PUMP AND THE AUTOMATIC START WOULD NOT WORK. ALONG WITH THAT WHEN THE CAR STARTED THE SCREEN WOULD FLASH WARNING SIGNS: EMERGENCY BREAK SYSTEM, AIRBAG SYSTEM WARNING. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CLAIMED TO NOT HAVE A LOANER. HOWEVER, FRIDAY 5/10/2019 I HAD NOT RECEIVED A CALL BACK AND ON MY WAY TO TAKE MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL. THE EMERGENCY BREAKS LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH DOWN FM 1289 HEADING TO PORT O'CONNOR, TEXAS FROM PORT LAVACA, TEXAS. I WENT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND DEMANDED A LOANER. THE VEHICLE IS CLEARLY A LEMON! HOWEVER LARRY TAYLOR, A SERVICE TECHNICIAN, TOLD US "I VALUE MY LIFE I WOULD NOT DRIVE THIS VEHICLE". PAUL PEREZ SERVICE DEPARTMENT MANAGER SAID "I WOULDN'T PUT MY FAMILY IN THAT VEHICLE." THEN THEY DEMANDED WE BRING THE LOANER BACK 5/17/2019 TO PICK UP OUR VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE ACCORDING TO THEM HAD A SHORT CIRCUIT, THIS IS THE SECOND TIME MIND YOU, AND MADE THE EMERGENCY BREAKS ENGAGE AND THE SEAT BELTS MALFUNCTION. ALSO, THE AIRBAGS MALFUNCTIONED FLASHING WARNING AS THE BREAKS LOCKED UP. I COULD ONLY SELECT 3 OPTIONS BUT SEAT BELTS NEEDS TO BE CHECKED.

I TOOK THE CAR TO BE LOOKED AT AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE THAT I SHOULD LOOK UP. I DID AND THERE WERE THREE RECALLS INVOLVING MY VEHICLE, TWO OF WHICH RELATED DIRECTLY TO THE PROBLEMS I WAS HAVING. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER WHO SAID MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I ASKED HOW THAT IS POSSIBLE WHEN EXACTLY WHAT I AM EXPERIENCING IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY LISTED. SHE TOLD ME TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP HAVE THEM CHECK IT OUT AND IF THEY DETERMINED THAT THIS WAS THE PROBLEM THEN THEY WOULD NOT TO CALL AND TELL THEM THAT. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE DEALER AND SPOKE WITH SERVICE WHO EXPLAINED WHY SHOULD THEY HAVE TO CONTACT CHRYSLER WHEN IT'S NOT THEIR PROBLEM. I SAID SIR, I AM ONLY FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS. HE THEN WENT ON TO EXPLAIN TO ME THAT WELL THEY COULD LOOK AT THE CAR BUT IT WOULD COST ME $230 TO DO A DIAGNOSTIC. I ASKED WHY I WOULD HAVE TO FOR THAT AND HE SAID "HE HAS TO PAY HIS PEOPLE". I MADE AN APPOINT AND TOOK THE CAR. WHEN THEY CALLED THEY WORDED EVERYTHING IN A MANNER THAT WOULD REMOVE ME FROM THE RECALL, HOWEVER THEY THEN PUT "FUEL INJECTION" AT THE BOTTOM. I INQUIRED ABOUT THIS AND WAS TOLD THAT I AM SUPPOSED TO GET MY FUEL INJECTION CLEANED 2 PER YEAR. I INFORMED THEM I NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING. HE ALSO TOLD ME IT WOULD CLOSE TO $500 TO GET MY SEATBELF FIXED "THAT IS NOT EVEN BROKEN" AND NEVER DID ANYTHING ABOUT THE INDICATOR LIGHTS. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY NEEDED TO PUT MY CAR "BACK TOGETHER" WHICH I ALSO DID NOT UNDERSTAND BECAUSE I THOUGHT A DIAGNOSTIC DID NOT REQUIRE THAT. NOW MY ENGINE LIGHT IS ALSO ON AND NOBODY WILL RETURN MY CALLS.

MY CAR BEGIN SPUTTERING, STALLING WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GAS AS IF IT WAS NOT GETTING ENOUGH GAS, MY INDICATOR LIGHTS ON THE PANEL OF THE CAR WOULD JUST START TO GO CRAZY CAUSING THE SEATBELT SIGN TO BEGIN TO DING AND DING AND DING, EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY SEAT BELT ON.
