Defect Description:

SUSPENSION

Potential Consequences:

Received recall letter for my car. I took the car to the dealership for an oil change and recall check. They mentioned they had to order the part for the recall. I also complained about a noise I was hearing when the car was stopped at a light, etc. They mentioned it was the motor mount and would need to be replaced too. I have been trying to obtain updates from the dealership since October 2023, and I keep getting the run around. They were supposed to call me last week to coordinate loaner as supposedly they had received my parts, but never heard back from them. I feel this car is a lemon and I would like to file an official complaint to see what options I have.

STEERING

Potential Consequences:

About two weeks ago, I was driving my Grand Cherokee on highway with my wife and our two-year-old. The power steering light was on and the service light was on. There's also a message saying "power steering lost" popping up at the control panel. The steering was extremely heavy that I lost control of it and could not turn left or right. I pushed brake and turned on emergency light until the vehicle slowed down and eventually stopped on the road shoulder. It was very dangerous. At that point I did not even know there was a recall about power steering on this model - although later I found out my vehicle was not included in that recall it. I took my vehicle to local dealership (Opelika Ford Chrysler Jeep). I also contacted Jeep service line. The staff from Jeep created a case for me (case #: [XXX]) but was not helpful as he refused to give local dealership authorization to repair it - even though the service light was on when I brought it in. The dealership also had some communication with Jeep service. And they were denied authorization to repair it with recall exception or under warranty as they could not duplicate the issue. I was outraged by the lack of responsibility from Jeep as they knew I had a serious incident while they denied authorization to repair it accordingly only because my vehicle was not included in the recall list. I also requested to speak to the supervisor of the Jeep service staff but was told my case was officially closed. Just unbelievable!! I wonder who would take the liability here if we got the vehicle back from dealership without a repair and we crashed with a two-year-old on board. EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Potential Consequences:

While my wife was driving at night at 70mph, the left light selector knob near your left knee was set from the usual "Auto" position to the "0" position. She was trying to figure how to make the dash and radio lights brighter at night while waiting for me thus turning this selector knob that did make the dash brighter and not affecting the outside vehicle lights. When I got into the car and she was driving, she could not activate the high beam lever to stay permanently "on" by pushing the level forward as usual. Pulling the lever back engaged the high beams as long as you pulled the lever back but could not active them permanently on by pushing the lever forward. As I was the passenger, I went into the Uconnect panel menu to the "Light Section" and un-checked the "Running Lights" green check mark and all the lights WENT OFF WHILE DRIVING ! No head lights, no running lights, no rear lights, no outside vehicle lights while driving 70 miles per hour at pitch dark. Is this supposed to happen. I noticed in the owners manual that the Canadian version did not have this "0" position. Bottom line: Are you supposed to be able to turn off all exterior lights while driving at night completely off? Should I have gotten a WARNING of "This function is not available while the vehicle is in motion"? My Youtube video you can review: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Corrective Action:

Potential Consequences:

I was never sent anything regarding my recall, so I’m kind of upset now it’s been since June 8th, apparently, since recalls been made and now come November my insurance is going to 138. I can’t afford that with daycare and other expenses. I’m going to jeep dealership tomorrow! And going to Speak to supervisor. But please make this right it’s utterly unacceptable to have said in USAA AP THAT MY INSURANCE IS INCREASING DUE TO NEGLIGENCE OF THE DEALERSHIP to inform me of my recall. I have two kids and not a happy momma right now
