ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

While driving, the Jeep suddenly loses all power and shuts down. This is extremely dangerous as it seems to happen at random. So far only on side streets, but what if I was in the middle of an intersection? The manufacturer knows this is an issue with the model year and make, complaints litter the internet. They have not issued a recall, I suppose someone needs to die first.

Potential Consequences:

SVC 4WD service light came on - Power Transfer Unit failing. 75000 miles on 2019 Cherokee Latitude Plus. Warranty was only 60000 miles. Should it fail while driving then jeep could not get out of other traffic's way. Dealer inspected it and confirmed PTU failing and needs replacement. my VIN is not on a recall list. I first noticed a few months ago a loss of power when either turning at a light or pulling out at a light. Dash warning light came on traveling at 40 mph near home.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

UNKNOWN The radio fades in and out. Happens only some of the time but if it is going to happen it happens right away or it doesn't happen at all. It sounds to me like the wiring is faulty. I checked the uconnect website and it says my software is up to date. I have seen this same complaint all over the internet. My sister-in-law has the exact same problem. Jeep refuses to take responsibility or really figured out the issue so that it can be fixed. There has to be something they can do. It is maddening and really sounds like it could be something applied to the lemon law.

Potential Consequences:

At least three times the Jeep has turned off while at a stop but still in drive. The automatic start seems to be related. Now the automatic start has shut off on its own (was not manually disengaged). The first couple of times this occurred we were at a light and the auto start was on so the Jeep went idle. When we pushed to turn the auto start button to off , the vehicle completely shut down while in drive. We had to pt Jeep in park and restart engine.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

I have the 2019 Jeep Cherokee High Altitude 2.0 turbo 9 speed transmission. We have had this same problem since we bought this vehicle. It doesn't happen all the time but I believe is getting worse. The notorious very very hard shifting & stalling problems. This seems to happen at any speed, at anytime, & doesn't matter how you drive it the problem still persist. You can be driving 35 mph on a straight stretch, no breaking, no change in acceleration, and it will suddenly shift very hard! The other problem that I believe is connected to this is stalling before it decides to shift. Sometimes 3 to 5 seconds before shifting very hard into gear after it finally decides which gear it wants to shift into. It has created some very scary moments that my family & I could have got into an accident multiple times because it took so long to shift. Please be my guest & inspect it! No check lights or anything like that. I did have the battery go bad a year after we bought it. That might have to do with the start/stop system even though it is equipped with a bigger battery and better starter.

Additional Notes:

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Potential Consequences:

The start/stop function frequently failed and the car struggled to start up. Took it to the dealership and they said it just needed a software update. The software update did not fix the issue and my car failed to turn back on at a traffic light once it turned green. I did some research on the issue and found MANY other 2019 cherokee owners have had the same issue and those people all said there was a dead spot on the starter. Took my car back to the dealership's service department and was told I needed a new starter. It's a just barely 2 year old vehicle. It should not need a new starter already. And the issue started in 2020 but got significantly worse this year. It puts people's safety at risk. Some have even said the start/stop feature shut the car off mid turn. I'm in a rental car right now until the car is fixed.

TIRES:TREAD/BELT

Potential Consequences:

(Continental Pro Contact Tx 225/55R18 - mold numbers 417777 and 408589) Tire belts in both passenger side tires failed at the same time while driving on the interstate. The car started shaking while I was driving. There was no warning, no loss of tire pressure. Broken tire belts confirmed by dealer. Dealer disposed of tires because they were not told to hold them by Continental Tires. Tires mold numbers are not part of previous recall, but seem to have had same issue.
