AIR BAGS

Potential Consequences:

I was recently involved in a car accident in the beginning of December. A truck pulled out in front of me when I was going 50 mph and I hit him in the side and it caused a significant amount of damage to the my vehicle. The other persons insurance company totaled my vehicle because of the amount of damage. However, we were surprised that the airbags didn’t deploy. Nothing has been confirmed to have been wrong with them but hasn’t been looked into. The vehicle was just taken to a colission center for estimates. It could have helped with the impact. My knees hit the dash pretty hard, enough to bruise pretty bad and cause pain for a few days

Potential Consequences:

My vehicle stopped working 2 times while driving. I still had control of the brakes and steering but it was like the vehicle just shut off by itself while I was driving. Luckily I was in a residential area so I wasn’t going that fast. I noticed to the control panels flashed or blinked and the car made a few beeping sounds. But after I pulled over put the car in park, shut it off then started it again it did sound like it was struggling to start again but it did and it was ok after that. But it was a scary experience, imagine if I had been on the freeway going 55 mph I’ve also had problems with the start stop system, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. One other thing is when I accelerate sometimes there’s a delay or it seems like the vehicle is struggling to pick up speed. And the last item not dangerous, just annoying..the radio will occasionally go loud soft, loud soft. But I found a way to make it stop when it happens I just switch from am and back to fm and then it’s normal again but it would be nice not to have to do that every time I get in the car.

Potential Consequences:

I PURCHASED MY JEEP IN 09/2018 AND I HAVE REPORTED NUMEROUS TIMES THAT MY LEFT FOG LIGHT TURNS ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THE TECHNICIAN DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE PROBLEM STILL PERISTS AND I HAVE DECIDED TO NOT USE MY FOG LIGHTS. SECONDLY, MY RADIO TURNS OFF AND ON BY ITSELF WHILE DRIVING ALONG WITH OCCASSIONALLY APPEARING WITH THE ENTER ANTI-THEFT LOCK CODE. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AS USUAL THE TECHINICIAN DID NOT FIND ANY ISSUES. MOST RECENTLY SINCE 12/20/2021 MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN STALLING OUT WHILE DRIVING AND THE STERRING WHEEL IS LOCKING UP AND THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON. THIS ISSUE IS NOW BECOMING VERY CONSISTENT AND HAPPENING EVERY DAY. THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED OUT ON ME IN THE PAST WEEK NUMEROUS TIMES IN TRAFFIC. MY ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, AUTO START AND STOP SYSTEM IS UNAVAILABLE AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM IS OFFLINE. I HAVE REPORT THE NEW DEVELOPMENT TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY CAN NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE TECHINICIAN WILL ASSESS MY CAR ANY SOONER THAN MY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT ON 1/18/2022. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM AND BASED ON THE RESEARCH THAT I HAVE DONE, ALOT OF THE JEEP CHEROKEES HAVE THIS ISSUE.

Potential Consequences:

The radio screen has delaminated and Navigation now does not work and the screen constantly shows the message “Do you want to adjust your clock settings”. Doesn’t matter if I click out via “yes”, “no” or the “ X” in the upper right corner, it just comes back on. It also makes a clicking noise and there is a flashing light on the time on the screen. This is distracting while driving, and the screen will go black when I’m backing up so I can’t see anything behind me. I am the second owner and the car is out of warranty so the dealer will not cover the cost of the repair. I have to fix it so I have my navigation and back up camera again. I did my research and apparently this is a huge problem with Jeeps and Chryslers. But no recall. This is affecting my driving with the screen flipping to that message and the clicking noise. My only choice is never using the radio. The dealer will order and install the new radio when I can come up with the money to pay for it. It’s quite expensive. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer. They suggested I call FCA, which I did and they told me there was nothing they could do to offer any price relief.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING

Potential Consequences:

The 8.4 uconnect screen is delaminating causing an internal malfunction. This presents a serious safety concern that has been repeatedly reported to the NHTSA and FCA. The screen goes black and freezes; causing loss of back up cameras, loss of navigation, climate and radio changing. The screen constantly changing causes distraction to the driver posing a significant safety issue. This is a known issue and yet FCA continues to put drivers, passengers and others on the road at risk by intentionally and knowingly concealing or omitting facts concerning the quality of the vehicle and the defective Uconnect and the risk to safety. FCA and the dealer concealed the defect with no intent to replace or repair the defect during the warranty period. Then refuse to cover the fix that is over $2,000. The issue has been reproduced at the dealer service department and on video. Prior to the complete delamination and screen failure the system would turn black and reboot frequently. No reasonable customer expects a vehicle to present a defect that exposes drivers and occupants to such a safety hazard.
