Defect Description:
UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Potential Consequences:
For several months there was a crackling sound coming from the dashboard/ speakers. I mentioned this problem to my service advisor on at least 2 different appointments and even showed him a recording of the problem. It was never fixed. Finally, My entertainment center stopped working altogether. It would not even turn on. I once again reminded my service advisor about the crackling/ popping sounds and wondered if these problems were related. They stated a cable was loose, reconnected and my entertainment center began to work again. Unfortunately, the crackling and popping sound continued. When using the audio system, the speakers would abruptly make crackling and popping noises, similar to static noises, which caused the audio to interrupt and cut out. Even when I turned the audio off, the speakers continued to make the crackling and popping sounds. This was extremely nerve recking, and caused safety concerns because I was not sure what was going on and where sounds were coming from when I first begin having this issue with the car. It happened randomly. The audio would also stop and dvd would stop working where image no longer appeared on the back screen. I took it to the dealership again today and received a quote for about $1,600.00 to have it repaired. I have found multiple complains online for this same problem. Honda was well aware of the problem and should extend warranty and cover my repair cost fully. Below is result of inspection done: Recommended service $1,462.41 Sound System - Amplifier: 3rd row seats need to be removed to access amp The amplifier is a component of the vehicles sound system. The amplifier is used to boost the audio signal to the speakers. Customer approved on1/30/2024 at 11:28 AM Service pricing Subtotal: $1,462.41 Shop Charges: $50.00 Taxes: $98.31 Total $1,610.72

Defect Description:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
While driving and vehicle is in motion, vehicle loses all power, all electrical components turn off and vehicle shuts off. To reiterate, this is not the idle stop power down, this is the entire vehicle shutting off. Last time I was driving at 45 MPH when all power lost. Taking vehicle to dealership for pending recalls this week. No warning lights, no messages on display, just seemingly a random loss of power.

Defect Description:
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
As we were driving we started experiencing some slight stalling and eventually started hearing a pitter patter noise as we accelerated. At one point while on the freeway we stalled out and had to pull over almost causing an accident for the person behind us to hit us. This has more recently come up again as we were driving on the road and almost caused another accident. We did take it to two different Honda Dealers and both confirmed that it has to do with the current fuel pump recall. No warnings.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Potential Consequences:
I was driving on the highway and I heard this loud noise above my head. After the loud sound happened, I wasn’t sure what had happened. While still driving it sounded like the sunroof came open by itself, so I slid the summer roof cover back and the sunroof was shattered. There wasn’t another vehicle driving close to me. Honda asked me to take to a Honda dealer repair shop to get it inspected. I was told they could inspect it but there is no way they can tell if it was defected or not because the glass is already shattered. This is not good. I could have had my cover open, and possibly all cut up from the shattered sunroof.

Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
My vehicle is equipped with a feature that turns it off at brakes stops and restarts when the gas is pushed (example - at a stop sign). Honda did a recall and replaced a part but this feature on my vehicle still stalls and doesn’t start instantaneously with the gas, causing a noticeable delay when I’m trying to go from a stoplight. Hondas remedy has been a button to turn this off - bit it must be turned off every single time the car is started and I’m afraid for my teenagers to take my 2019 Pilot because they may not remember the to do this. Honda at one point did turn this feature off on my vehicle but when I got a new battery put in, the computer reset and it is now active again. They informed me they now do not have the ability to turn off this feature due to a government legality over fuel efficiency so I feel very frustrated and disappointed.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
I have a 2019 Honda Pilot (VIN [XXX] ), little over 70,000 miles on it. In early December 2023, I started having problems with screening flashing in cycles every warning and failure message for the vehicle. I get a cylinder 4 misfire on my person code reader. Honda Metro in Indian Trail NC tells me this is fuel injectors, they are on national backorder with no guaranteed delivery AND it will cost me over $1200 to fix there. I asked if it was warrantied or recalled and was told no. Researching I found that the 2014-2018 fuel injectors were recalled. Also, found the 2014 -2020 were same injectors so not sure why the 2019 - 2020 are not covered by same recall. ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
The auto start stop feature in my car appears very weak. I believe the dealer replaced the battery once early on and then I have had to replace the battery at my own expense again. Now, after a new battery, it is still appearing weak. I believe this feature is draining the batteries and causing a safety issue as my car seems to be delayed or struggles when trying to start back up. The auto start stop also was not working properly when I purchased the vehicle and was “fixed” right after I purchased the car.

My 2019 Honda Pilot with approximately 74K miles suddenly display a transmission problem warning. We were on a freeway, slowing down from approximately 70 MPH to 50 MPH. As the vehicle slowed, it shudder, the speed dropped and clanking noise was heard as i pressed the gass pedal to gain some forward momentum. The transmission warninig displays comes on, and the speed dropped. We limped to the nearest Hondas dealer in Carson , CA. It appears there's is an ongoing class action lawsiut by Hondas Pilots owner due to same problems that I just experienced. I am shocked for such a problem with Hondas vehicles, with low mileage. Not expected this with Hondas

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
The MIL comes on with DTCs P0441 (EVAP System Purge Flow Malfunction) P04F1 (EVAP System Low Purge Flow. Detected). I replaced the purge flow valve and joint purge valve which resolved the issue. The reason I am writing is, the coding within the 2019 Pilot also threw an AWD System Problem MIL, but did not have a specific code associated via the OBD reader. It is a false reading that can cause more work to be done to the car than necessary. Once both purge valves were replaced, there are no MIL's present.

Potential Consequences:
Between gears 4 to 5 and 5 to 4 the transmission can jerk suddenly, and cause a "clapping" noise from the transmission. As a consumer, I would not expect this to be customary for a new car (it has happened since we bought the car new in Dec 2018). The dealership could not identify an issue with no MIL or thrown code. It is concerning for the life of the transmission given the aggressive shift between these gears.

In October 23, 2023, The Honda Pilot Touring 2019 activated the alarm system alone. When I attempted to stop the alarm the unit did not stop and start blinking. It displayed the codes keyless start system problems and auto engine idle system problem. The unit drained the battery. It was replaced by a new one and it showed the problem again in October 24, 2023. The unit turned ON alone the alarm, control panel motor fans and I was unable to turned Off the unit. The only way to turned Off the unit was disconnecting from batery. On October 24, 2023, the car was sent to the Honda dealer and the diagnostic was problem with the control module part 38320TG7A91. As of today I still waiting for repair due to part backorder. Neither the part is available in Honda part supplier in US. Why? It has been a part recall from supplier? Did Honda knows already of this part problem? I want to issue a safety complaint because the Honda Pilot turned On alone due to these problems (codes) described above while I was out of home. This must be investigated since the unit did not turned OFf unless battery is disconnected. In addition I have been waiting since October for repair while the unit is in a parking lot. I trusted in Honda when I adquired this car. Also, all maintenace have been provided by Honda dealer in Ponce, Puerto Rico. I never expected this type of problem in this car. A Case was opened and no response has been received yet. There has been many incidents reported on internet with the same problem in Honda Pilot. Is there is any additional information, please contact me.

POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
Experiencing Judder/hesitation when car reaches a speed where it has to shift from first to second gear and from second to third gear. Sometimes it feels more like a jerk. Issue mostly occurs after the car has warmed up, so after around 3-4 miles of driving the car. Second issue was RPM fluctuation when car is at steady acceleration. Judder issue first occurred back in June 2022 when the car has ~63000 miles. It started with a sudden jerk, felt like someone hit the car from behind, this happens when the car is trying to shift from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3. Issue was very intermittent at that time and restart of car would make it go away. But issue will come back every few weeks. Issue increased around ~68,762 miles, so took the car to my local auto repair shop on 8/31/2023. The shop performed maintenance listed below – •Transmission Flush / Fluid ATF DW-1 / Transmission service •Oil Change •Differential Front and Back Service/Flush •Cooling system Flush and new anti-freeze •Fuel Injection Service Issue was still ongoing, so decided to take the car to Honda Authorized service center on 9/27/23, they were able to duplicate the Judder experience and performed snapshot and diagnosed car and advised vehicle needs torque converter. Wanted to go for second opinion, so scheduled an appointment with another Honda service center, they informed me that the transmission fluid was very dark and performed the flush of automatic transmission fluid (ATF) 3 time. Issue frequency has reduced after the flush, but every few weeks the car experiences Judder/hesitation while shifting and usually turning off the engine and back on helps resolve the issue. All this while no engine lights came on.
