The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving from a complete stop and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated to respond. The contact stated that the failure recurred on several occasions. The message "Emission System Failure" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel injectors had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the part was not available to repair the vehicle. The dealer informed the contact that the repair was not covered under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the messages "Lane Keep Assist Failure", "High Beam Failure", "Cruise Control Failure", "Collision Mitigation Braking System Failure" and other unknown messages were displayed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

A water leak has ruined TWO power liftgate control modules. The water leak probably comes from the roof or driver rear window welds. I replaced one module two months ago and the new one has also malfunctioned due to water intrusion. This causes the liftgate to be stuck open or closed and could potentially open when driving!

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

The issue I am experiencing is a power tailgate control module failure, specifically part# 74970-THR-A12. The part is located on the driver side rear, and the issue appears to be due to a water leak coming between body seams and slowly dripping down into the module. Over time the water damage seeps into the control module casing and causes corrosion on the circuit board. This, then, renders the power tailgate inoperable. In my case, it just suddenly stopped working. A couple weeks, while the tailgate still did not work, I did receive a message saying "tailgate open" while I was driving. But, that issue went away on its own, and the tailgate didn't appear to actually be open. It is unclear if this type of electrical failure could also cause a tailgate to open unexpectedly while driving. Looking up this issue online, it appears that many other Odyssey owners have experienced the exact same issue (water leak and corrosion on control module). This should be considered for a recall given that so many drivers have experienced the exact same issues under the exact same circumstances. It seems like the issue could be solved by simply determine where the leak is occurring from. While my Odyssey is still under an extended warranty, the dealer charges to perform a diagnostic do not make it worthwhile for me to have them determine if it is covered, and I will choose to replace the part on my own. Below I have attached 4 photos showing my specific circuit board with water damage, plus the area in which the control module sits in the car, where you can see rust due to water seepage. I also experienced rapid and sudden battery drain in the past, and others in the forums that experienced this tailgate issue have also noted that they believe it may be related. Even after I replace the part, I am afraid of the issue reoccurring and/or the water leaks creating additional electrical problems in the car.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

Car surges when accelerating from a stop, I believe this happens when it is transitioning from 1st to 2nd gear under the automatic transmission. It feels like a hard shift. I brought this up to the dealership the following week after I bought the car CPO, but they said it was normal for the cvt transmission. Since then, I have just dealt with it and was extra careful with acceleration from a stop. It is a consistent issue that can be minimized by stepping on the accelerator very slowly. I bring this up again because my cousin was driving my car and said "this is undriveable" and he felt the lack of control in the low speed range due to this surge at around 15 mph could be unsafe in city and bumper to bumper driving.

Potential Consequences:

Regarding NHTSA Number 24-022. I have called the dealership many times and everytime they kept saying they will contact me when the parts are available for the recalled item. I wonder if my acceleration surge at 15mph is related to this recall. I have received multiple emails and letter correspondence regarding this recall, but everytime I call, no Honda dealership seems to have the parts to fix this. I find it unacceptable that it has been almost a year since I heard about the recall and there still has not been a legitimate attempt to fix this issue. It's negligence and make me lose confidence in Honda. I've never had a recall item take so long before.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Potential Consequences:

We have had repeated incidents with the vehicle since late 2023. The vehicle begins to jump and a long and seemingly random list of dashboard indicators turns on. When we first sent the vehicle in for diagnosis they could not replicate the issue, dealt with a seatbelt related safety recall and "reset the computer". This decreased the incidence of the issue temporarily. All routine maintenance has been performed on the vehicle. The battery has been replaced twice because that was the best guess of what was causing the previous issue. A few months later, the issue started again. Random indicators, sometimes power steering, sometimes temperature gauge, sometimes othes lights in rapid succession. We again took the vehicle to dealership of purchase and they were unable to replicate the issue (and unable to deal with a fuel pump issue with a multi-month backlog for the part). Finally, while driving on the interstate today the vehicle began to lurch repeatedly and the random list of seemingly every indicator lit up again (see photo), including the power steering failing. The vehicle is completely inoperable and was towed to the dealership.

Additional Notes:

We have had repeated incidents with the vehicle since late 2023. The vehicle begins to jump and a long and seemingly random list of dashboard indicators turns on.
