American Honda Motor Co. (Honda) is recalling certain model year 2016 Civic 2-Door vehicles manufactured February 23, 2016, through May 20, 2016. The affected vehicles may have a damaged LED side marker light circuit board inside the taillight assembly, making the marker light inoperable. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Assoc. Equipment."

I HEARD A LOT OF WIND AND AFTER VERIFYING THAT ALL OF MY WINDOWS WERE UP I OPENED THE VISOR TO MY SUNROOF TO DISCOVER THAT MY SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED. WHEN THIS OCCURRED, THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES SURROUNDING ME AND I WAS NOT DRIVING UNDER AN OVER PASS, THEREFORE I WAS NOT HIT BY ANY FLYING DEBRIS. ONCE I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER IT APPEARED THAT MY SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED IN AN OUTWARD FASHION. AS IF SOMEONE HAD BUSTED IT OUT FROM THE INSIDE. THERE WAS ALSO NO GLASS THAT SHATTERED DOWN INTO MY SUNROOF VISOR WHICH FURTHER LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT I WAS NOT HIT BY DEBRIS. WHEN DRIVING MY CAR AT 60 OR 65MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES THE STEERING WHEEL STAYS STUCK AND MAKES DRIVING DIFFICULT CAUSING STRONG PULLS TO THE SIDES AND CAUSES INSECURITY AND DIFFICULTY WHEN DRIVING LONG DISTANCES. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN JUNE OF 2018 EXPLAINING THE SITUATION AND A HONDA TECHNICIAN MADE THE TEST WITH ME NEXT AND IT HAPPENED THE SAME. HE REPORTED IT AND THEY ONLY MADE ONE BATTERY CHANGE. TODAY JANUARY 13 OF 2019 THE PROBLEM CONTINUES AND IS GETTING WORSE. THE CAR HAS 26,114 MILES TODAY.

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM A HONDA DEALERSHIP VANCOUVER, WA IN 2016. RECENTLY, THE CAR ALARM WOULD GO OFF RANDOMLY THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE BATTERY WAS CHECKED AND REPLACED. THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. I WENT IN AGAIN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK OF ELECTRONIC SYSTEM AND FOUND SECURITY CODES RELATING TO HOOD SWITCH IN THE SECURITY HISTORY. THEY SUGGESTED TO REPLACE THE HOOD LATCH/SWITCH ASSEMBLY AND RECHECK. ANOTHER PERSON I SPOKE WITH, THAT HAD THE SAME ISSUE, CLAIMED THAT REPLACING THE HOOD LATCH ASSEMBLY WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. I ASKED ABOUT MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY SINCE THIS ITEM ISN'T COVERED BY DEALERSHIP WARRANTY OF 3 YRS/36K MILES. THE DEFECT IS FROM A PART THAT IS CAUSED BY AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE AND FALLS UNDER MANUFACTURING ERROR AND NOT A WEARABLE PART THAT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH WARRANTY OR SOMETHING THAT FATIGUES OVER TIME. I WROTE HONDA REGARDING THIS. IN THE MEANTIME, I CANNOT USE MY SECURITY SYSTEM, THAT I PAID FOR ON THE VEHICLE, DUE TO IT POSSIBLY DRAINING MY NEW BATTERY. CIVIC WAS TOWED TO A HONDA DEALER IN DAYTON. WAS TOLD OIL WAS OVERFULL AND THEIR SOLUTION WAS TO DRAIN AND FILL WITH PROPER AMOUNT. WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THEY HAD SEEN THAT BEFORE. IT IS COMING TOGETHER FOR ME NOW WHEN I SAW A CONSUMER REPORT YOUTUBE DISCUSSING THIS ENGINE ISSUE AND THIS YOUTUBE: HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=J80BFJS-16U. 1.5 TURBO IS BUILDING UP FLUID IN THE CRANKCASE LIKE ON THE 1.5 TURBOS IN THE CIVIC. HAD THE OIL CHANGED AGAIN RIGHT AT TWO MONTHS LATER, HERE IN INDIANA, WITH LIKELY LESS THAN 2000 MORE MILES AND THERE IS AGAIN BUILDUP OF FLUID IN THE CRANKCASE. THE OIL WAS OVERFULL AS CONFIRMED BY THE TECHS AT THE LOCAL INDIANA HONDA DEALER. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE .

THE "DESIGN" HAS A SERIOUS SAFETY FLAW AS THE DRIVER MUST CONSTANTLY BE AWARE OF THE TERRAIN AND SPEED OF THE VEHICLE WHICH SEEMS TO NEGATE THE USE OF A CRUISE CONTROL. I EXPERIENCED SEVERAL FRIGHTENING SITUATIONS WHILE ON A ROAD TRIP FROM YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK TO SEATTLE THIS SUMMER.
