Defect Description:
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Potential Consequences:
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle intermittently came to an abrupt stop without any other objects or vehicles nearby. The emergency braking image followed by a warning chime would appear on the instrument panel during the failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where he was informed that the failure could not be duplicated. An investigator was sent to inspect the vehicle and the brake module was replaced. Despite the repair, the failure persisted. The computer and battery were both replaced after the initial repair but failed to fix the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.

Potential Consequences:
The chrome interior trim on the center console (around the drink holder and shifter, as well as the smaller compartments) in the limited edition is defective and edges are lifting to the point that razor sharp edges are exposed and have cut open my hands, as well as the hands of my children. I asked them to replace it under my warranty and they declined. This part is defective and there are reports of others experiencing this online. The material used seems to be lifting and is not adhering properly. The part started lifting around 36,000 miles and continues to lift. The edge, again, is extremely sharp. WE have continually cut ourselves just reaching to grab a drink.

POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
Our 2019 Ford Expedition MAX (75k miles), has a transmission that disengages while driving (wrench light on; powertrain system failure limp mode; incorrect 4th gear ratio error code). A mechanic diagnosed it as an inner sleeve of the C-D-F drum moving out of position needing a full rebuild or new transmission. The vehicle has lost total drive train power while driving in traffic at speed. Whenever there is a need for up shift or down shift, the vehicle will intermittently stutter, slip/grind gears, rev up, or lose power completely. This has put my family in danger on the road. The car is dangerous when attempting to pull onto roads with moving traffic. It is concerning that Ford has not issued a recall.

POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
My 2019 Ford Expedition Max- Limited: Shifting was starting to get rough and car was jerking between gears. It was unsafe as it would not speed up in the highway and it would jerk all of a sudden. Transmission failed at 88K miles. I had to pay over 8K at the Ford Dealership to get a whole new transmission placed after various attempts to deal with issue failed. Ford Company could care less about their faulty transmissions. No warning lights ever came on other than the harsh shifting that suddenly started within a week's time.

POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
The transmission randomly switches gears, both down and up. At times, the car will just downshift and appears to lose power. Especially when attempting to pass other vehicles. This can be a dangerous situation, and has been. It also has caused a near accident on a snow covered road by 'taking off' in a high gear which caused the card to slide into the oncoming lane twice. I have taken this car to the dealership service department 4 times, they say there are no codes or recalls and just reset the computer to have it relearn my driving habits.

Whenever there is a need for up shift or down shift, the vehicle will intermittently stutter, slip gears, or lose power completely. This has put my family (pregnant wife and two children under 4) in extreme danger on the road. In one incident her only available course of action was to attempt to coast off the road while in the midst of moving traffic with speeds in excess of 50+ miles per hour around her. The car is dangerous, attempting to pull onto roads with moving traffic, is now extremely worrying. It is unconscionable that this vehicle issue has not resulted in a recall.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
Potential Consequences:
FYI re: Request #[XXX] Let me know if you have any info I sent this letter on November 20, 2022 and as of January 10, 2023 I have had no response from Ford Motors: [XXX] Office of the CEO Ford Motor Company 1 American Road Dearborn, Michigan 48126 Re: 2019 Ford Expedition ACC-Cruise Control Potential Safety Problem Mr. [XXX], I wanted to let you know of a bizarre recent ACC cruise control issue with my 2019 Expedition. It has ~30,000 miles on it and has performed very well without problem before and after this incident. Several weeks ago I was driving on an interstate highway in a construction zone with stop and go traffic, and had the ACC on. I slowed down behind a dull colored black Chevrolet pickup that had dark lens covers over the tail lights and a dark cover over the license plate to about 5 MPH. Suddenly the ACC had full acceleration then the auto safety braking slowed me abruptly, then the ACC hit full acceleration again and the auto brake engaged. I turned the ACC off, and then back on, and it did the exact acceleration and safety braking so I turned the ACC off. There was no accident or problem other than this acceleration/braking sequence. When I no longer was behind the pickup I tried and ACC and it has worked perfectly since then, as it had prior to this bizarre issue The ACC seemed to not see this pickup truck but the auto safety braking system did. The pickup was an unusual non factory appearing paint job, dark gray or black not just a primer, and the tail lights and license plates also had some darkening coating. It seemed to be Stealth to the ACC, but not to the braking system. Maybe referred to the Engineering Section of the ACC group to see if they have heard of this before or have any idea what occurred to help prevent any risks involving the Ford ACC system. Again there was no accident or collision, only the sudden acceleration/braking. This only occurred one time on this 2019 Expedition and never on our other Ford products. Defect Description:
UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Potential Consequences:
While driving down the road, my vehicle suddenly drops from a higher gear down to 2nd. When this happens, the RPMs jump very high and the engine revs very high. While this is happening, I have no control and I can't use the gas pedal and am losing speed. The vehicle seems to be stalling. There are two messages that flash on the screen. "Shift system fault" and "see Manual". Neither are in the manual. I have taken it to Ford and after a day, they said nothing is wrong and collect almost $200. I took it in before my 75,000-mile transmission warranty was out. They said they have never heard of such a problem. I have now research it have found many people with the same on expeditionforum.com. It happens on a daily basis now and it's my only car and my learner car for my 15 year old. It WILL cause an accident. I did finally get it on videa and will make another attempt with FORD next week.
