Potential Consequences:
Driver side door started to make a noise while using it. Shortly after the door was hard to close and open at the same time and a pop sound happened and door could not close at all due to door arm breaking loose inside of door. I am taking my car in for a recall repair on September 15, 2023 and at that time the dealership will be looking into what they can do for me regarding the door arm repair since this happend just outside of the 36,000 mile warranty. The Ford Escape 2020 is at this moment at 38,525.

Defect Description:
UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Potential Consequences:
The driver's side door made popping or cracking noises when opening and closing. It eventually locked in place while open, and it could not be closed. I took it to the dealer where they initially said that the check strap needed to be replaced. After the part arrived and they disassembled the door, it was discovered that the welds on the component that holds the check strap in place were broken. The car was moved to the body/collision shop for further assessment. In the meantime, I've discovered this has happened with several other 2020 Escapes, but there is no recall as of yet. Obviously, this is a manufacturer defect that needs to be addressed in a more global and urgent manner.
