Defect Description:
SERVICE BRAKES
Potential Consequences:
This has been an intermittent problem that Ford dealership cannot rectify unless it happens to them. Because I can't make it happen, and it has not happened close to a dealership, they cannot see it. The brakes seize up and won't stop the vehicle. I have no idea when it will happen - it happens with no warning. It has happened in the mountains in NC and on the highway, in a gas station, in parking lots and in my garage among other places. It is very frightening. Last night when it happened it lasted for about 45 minutes - the longest ever, and the brakes made a terrible blaring noise. When the brakes seize up, I have to drive very slowly and practically stand up on the brakes to bring the car to a halt. Thankfully it has not happened at high speed. This puts me, any passengers and other vehicles and their passengers and drivers at risk. The problem has occurred several times, but has not been confirmed by a dealer. By the way, the brakes have been squeaky since the first few months of ownership. At one point the dealership resurfaced the brake pads and rotors. It seems like the same issue the 2016 Expedition was recalled for. I am scared that this will result in a terrible wreck. The first occurrence was on April 1, 2019. The most recent was last night, 10/18/2022. Today, Ford Customer Service gave me a case number of CAS39180084

POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
It had a recal on transmission bushing. We never had problems till they did th recall while driving we felt like a chain type thing snap pulled in to Walmart and had no gears. So we had it towed to Varney Ford they did a diagnostic and never got paper work ex ept that everything was good example, tires oil etc and said it was the transmission. They wanted 7 grand to fix it we had it towed to a garage in Canaan. I called Ford 4 times they said it was not under warranty and could not help. They also said tow it to a Ford place that would have been the 3rd. place towed. There was never any information light to check motor no signs and symptoms of any trouble. When I called Darlings they said I Have to take it to a Ford Garage before they would even know if they could help. I do not know how they diagnosed it if it was through a plug in or trans oil check etc.2 Tows and no help lucky no one got hurt or dead. Since all people are having problems why are they not fixing their problem? It only has 113 thousands miles and is well taken care of. I have talk to a few Ford Garages that said I should have had a light or signs which We had zero. Then one asked did we check the transmission oil. Hello dude its encased and you cannot check it .Like what's going on with this supposed mechanic? Beyond this AlI I get is the run around and told by the Ford people its not a recall on the transmission of the Ford Escapes 2016.

I received the recall on my car for the transmission shifter cable in July. When I went to get my oil changed in August I had asked about getting it fixed. However they just highlighted the portion that said parts aren’t available until 4th quarter. Moving forward on Sept 21, my shifter cable broke. I didn’t know that was the problem and brought it to the closest car mechanic due to safety. I never received any mail or notification that the parts were in stock yet but surprisingly Ford had it in stock to ship to the Expert Car Care my care was at. If I had known I could have fixed it this issue would have been avoided. I’m requesting a reimbursement for the amount I paid to get it fixed. I have a copy of the receipt. Thank you.

Potential Consequences:
Transmission has or is going out. For a few months now I have noticed on and off how difficult it is to shift gears and for a while now, when my car is in Park, I absolutely have to use my emergency brake or it will roll out of my driveway and has almost taken me and my granddaughter with it a few times. Then 3 days ago, all these warning lights pop up on my dash when going down the interstate and my vehicle will no longer run over 50mph. My car has already been inspected by Adesa Auto techs today. Then my daughter discovered this new safety recall for the Transmission Shifter Cable Bushing Damaged or Missing, and the description of issues caused by this was almost spot on to what mines been doing. I am in a bad way without my vehicle currently as I commute about 1 1/2 hrs one way for work.

Defect Description:
STEERING
Potential Consequences:
While driving my 2016 Ford Escape my steering became hard to turn and a steering fault light came on the dash. I was able to make it home but the car is very hard to turn which is very scary and unsafe. The car only has a little over 100,000 miles on it and we have already replaced a transmission at around 90,000. I don't think buying another Ford is in our future due to all the issue we have experienced and at our cost. I called the dealer to address the issue and they are 3 months out so how do I get out and back to work with the issues that I am facing?
