SERVICE BRAKES
Potential Consequences:
Bought this car used. Never received recall letter. Wife was driving car stepped on brake. Pedal went to the floor and car stopped slowly. Dealer and Ford Corp both said they would replace both front brake hoses but parts would take up to two weeks to get. They said I am not entitled to a loaner car or towing of the vehicle because the recall letter stated that the hoses could leak not that it could break. They also said that NHTSA stated in the letter that it was not unsafe to drive the car. Really, a brake issue is not unsafe. I think they are splitting hairs to avoid the costs involved.

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
Check engine light indicates cylinder misfire. Repair folks assume its spark plug related. Coolant is leaking into the engine causing this and by the time it is figured out the engine needs replaced! It is a known and well documented problem with these vehicles. I believe that FORD should be held liable for the cost of these engine replacements. It appears to happen around 60-65k miles. Unfortunately, owners of these vehicles are unaware of the issue until it happens to them. This is exactly what happened to me and I did research after the fact. I would implore for FORD to issue a recall and pay for these new engines.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS
Potential Consequences:
While driving the vehicle, the brake pedal became mushy and the vehicle had a hard time stopping. At this point, not warning light was on the dash. After pulling over, brake pedal testing was performed and the pedal went to the floor as well as the low brake fluid light illuminated. Upon inspection, the brake fluid reservoir was empty and there was a huge puddle of brake fluid beneath the rear passenger wheel. It is obvious that the brake line ruptured while driving. Thankfully, the driver was not at high speeds nor on a highway. This vehicle had recall work performed in 07/2021 where the front brake lines were replaced. However, the recall did not apply to the rear brake lines. The vehicle was towed to a Ford dealership for repairs. Rear passenger side brake line was defective and that the rupture to the brake line was NOT caused by road debris, etc. Ford also declined to cover the repairs. Also, the Ford Service Department confirmed that the part (rear passenger side brake line) was defective and that the rupture to the brake line was NOT caused by road debris, etc. Ford also declined to cover the repairs.
