ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
Potential Consequences:
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle started to shudder and shake with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who inspected the vehicle and determined that the coolant level was extremely low. UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Potential Consequences:
My pano/vista roof cracked randomly. Unsure of how long it was cracked. In researching, it appears this is a common problem with Ford Edge’s and several recalls surrounding my year of vehicle have been enforced upon Ford. From what I have read it appears this is a like situation of some sort of “stress” that cause the roof to fracture. It is now a safety hazard that is expensive to fix.

Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
The engine has a manufacturer's defect under Technical Service Bulletin 19-2208. Coolant is entering the cylinders. Personal safety is compromised because the engine can fail at any moment. Navigating safely through traffic with an engine fail and then being stranded on the freeway (at night in freezing cold temperatures) is a serious hazard. The problem has been confirmed by a few mechanics. Also, Ford Motor Company issued a TSB 19-2208 detailing this problem for the vehicle. Mysteriously, this TSB has suddenly disappeared but I have a pdf of their advisory detailing the defect. Ford Motor Company requested the vehicle be inspected by a certified dealership, who confirmed the problem. Ford is acknowledging the original engine manufacturer's defect. Mechanics report this is not a wear-and-tear issue. An engine warning light was the first indication of the problem. The problem appeared just after the manufacturer's 100k mile/5yr warranty expired. The vehicle has 105k miles. The vehicle was 3 months past the warranty when Ford was first contacted and notified of the problem. I have been in contact with Ford Motor Company for a couple of months trying to fix this problem. They are now refusing to discuss anything about the issue. Originally, they acknowledged the issue and their TSB proves they were aware of it even to the point of detailing the procedure for diagnostics and repair. Ford also previously reimbursed full expenses for the repair of their defective engine. Now it seems they are trying to cover it up trying to make it disappear, maybe so it does not get listed as a recall? The vehicle is a hazard to drive for my 80 year old mother who still works, but she has no other choice. I am seeing reports of this same engine fail online by other owners.

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
On 12-25-2021 I was driving my 2016 Ford Edge Titanium andthe check engine light came on. I took the car to a Ford dealer , they said they could not look at it till Momnday12-28-2021 they checked it out and told me the engine coolant leaked into the engine causing the engine to be replaced. They said they would run a compression check just to make sure. After waiting 1/2 a day, they told me yes, the engine had to be replaced the gasket was defective and caused the engine coolant to leak into the engine. The car has 56,400 miles and they told me to call Ford and maybe they would replace or give me some help on the cost. I called Ford and they told me car was out of warranty(which i knew) and they would do nothing. I am now on the hook for a bill for approx. $7,000. On the internet I found more than 72 complaints of the same thing happening and again Ford would do nothing. I was lucky I was not on a trip and got stranded out in the middle of no where. I feel it is Fords responsibility to see that this problem is taken care of. I do not understand why there has not been a recall on this problem,Why? If your engine stops running out on the highway you could be in for a grave accident. I know there is a Class Action lawsuit pending and like many big lawsuits they can take years to be resolved and who makes the money? the lawyers and then there will not be enough money left to pay back all these people who had to put out thousands to replace these motors. If the consumer wins there will probably be made some deal which will help Ford and the lawyers and then there will not be money left to help the consumer. Why don't you make a recall on this problem?

WHEELS:LUGS/NUTS/BOLTS/STUDS
Potential Consequences:
Lug nuts are 2 piece: The thread piece and the chrome head piece. The pieces became loose from each other, then the thread piece rusted and caused the chrome piece to swell and deform so the lug wrench could no longer fit on the lugnut, thus making it impossible to loosen. This can be a major problem when changing a flat tire. I needed to take my car to an auto mechanic to have several of the factory installed lugnuts replaced. I will need to buy replacement non-OEM lugnuts so this doesn’t happen any more. I read that this is a problem happening on many Ford vehicles.

When driving and try to brake noticed that pedal distance has increased and was hard to stop the car. When stopped to review vehicle, noticed brake fluid on the right side of it. Take it to Ford dealer (CrossRoads Ford of Kernersville) and they confirmed rupture on right brake hose. Correction was to replace both front brake hoses. This failure is exactly the same as the one for safety recall "NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V469000". VIN for my vehicle is not part of recall however same failure happens with same risks, showing that Ford fails on tracking/providing accurate VIN numbers for this safety failure.

I was driving from Phoenix Arizona to Tucson Arizona, about 1: 45 min drive, October 23rd, 2021, and all of the sudden the check engine lights turns on, and its getting hot, and the engine shuts down, I lose all power to the Steering , and brakes, now, i am going about 45 in a 75 lane, but people going 80 plus. and we are about 20 miles from home. WE finally able to pull over and check it out. I added water and let it cool down for about 30 mins, We took the frontage road driving around 30-35 miles per hour.. the light was on still but not over heating, till we got to the house when we saw the temperature going up, we shut it down,,, The next day i drove to a Mechanic close to the house, they ran the tests, and was advise that the engine had water in the motor, due to the engine being defective, they did tell us, that they have seen these a lot, in the edge and Escape, coming to their shop, took it to another mechanic (Ford Certified) and told us the same thing, no Good and you need to replace the engine at a cost of $6000- up to $8000.00, it only has 94k on the engine. they are seeing this across the USA. Its very dangerous, because when going 75 plus and your calls stalls out and slows down fast and cars and trucks had to go around us, some fish tailed almost out of control, we could have caused a MAJOR Pile up had not the car started for us to get to the side . God was with us, please look into this, We have the car parked, because we cant afford a new enginge. and still making payments on a CAR that done run thanks for your time rda
