VW Recalls Airbags For Deployment Problem

Volkswagen will be contacting the owners of certain 2019 Audi Q3 vehicles because of a problem affecting the passenger instrument panel air bag. According to the defect report, incorrect air bag score lines in the instrument panel could affect deployment during a crash and could cause plastic parts to detach and enter the passenger compartment.

 

Owners will be asked to return to their Volkswagen dealerships to have the instrument panel inspected and replaced as necessary. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 70H7 and the NHTSA campaign number is 20V-273.

 

According to the NHTSA website, a small number of2020 Audi A6, A7 and AllRoad vehicles could experience a similar problem. The leather covered instrument panels produced during a specific period were not manufactured according to specification. The predetermined split lines for the passenger airbag may not open as designed and could send plastic parts into the passenger compartment.

 

Owners will be asked to return to their Volkswagen dealerships to have the instrument panel replaced. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 70H6 and the NHTSA campaign number is 20V-274.
