Mercedes Benz And Freightliner Sprinter - Steering Problem

Daimler will be contacting the owners of certain 2019 Mercedes Benz Sprinter and 2019 Freightliner Sprinter vans because of problems affecting the steering.

Safety Report 20V-109: Due to a manufacturing error, the screws for the intermediate bearing of the steering spindle may have not been torqued sufficiently. The screws could loosen, allowing the bearing to move during vehicle operations. Eventually, the screws could completely detach and impair the driver's ability to steer the vehicle.

Safety Report 20V-110: A small number of Mercedes Benz and Freightliner Sprinter vans may have been manufactured without the cover for the casing pipe of the steering column. If the cover is not installed, debris could enter the steering column area, it is possible that the steering could be affected.
