The printed circuit board for the electronic power steering assist may experience an overstress condition, causing a loss of power steering assist when the vehicle reaches a stop and then accelerates again.

Potential Risk:
A loss of power steering assist can require greater steering effort, especially at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.

Safety Issue:

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Model 3, Model S, 2023-2025 Model X, and Model Y vehicles. The computer circuit board may short, resulting in the loss of the rearview camera image. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Potential Risk:
A rearview camera that does not display an image reduces the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash.

Tesla released an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. Tesla will also identify any vehicles that experienced a circuit board failure, or stress that may lead to a circuit board failure, and replace the affected computers, free of charge. The tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning light may not remain illuminated between drive cycles, failing to warn the driver of low tire pressure. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems."

In certain circumstances when Autosteer is engaged, the prominence and scope of the feature's controls may not be sufficient to prevent driver misuse of the SAE Level 2 advanced driver-assistance feature.

In certain circumstances when Autosteer is engaged, and the driver does not maintain responsibility for vehicle operation and is unprepared to intervene as necessary or fails to recognize when Autosteer is canceled or not engaged, there may be an increased risk of a crash.

(Tesla) is recalling certain 2016-2023 Model S, Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles equipped with Full Self-Driving Beta (FSD Beta) software or pending installation. The FSD Beta system may allow the vehicle to act unsafe around intersections, such as traveling straight through an intersection while in a turn-only lane, entering a stop sign-controlled intersection without coming to a complete stop, or proceeding into an intersection during a steady yellow traffic signal without due caution. In addition, the system may respond insufficiently to changes in posted speed limits or not adequately account for the driver's adjustment of the vehicle's speed to exceed posted speed limits.

FSD Beta software that allows a vehicle to exceed speed limits or travel through intersections in an unlawful or unpredictable manner increases the risk of a crash.

Potential Consequences:

The contact owns a 2023 Tesla Model Y. The contact stated while driving approximately 75 MPH, the vehicle stopped inadvertently while the cruise control was engaged with an unknown red warning light illuminated. STEERING

Potential Consequences:

On Sunday [XXX] I was driving to work, there was a moment where I felt the steering wheel was very stiff to the point where it felt weird and hard to control. I felt the two front wheels a bit odd, but then it went back to normal. I paid no attention to it after. As I was driving on [XXX] , my car started to automatically move to the left and I tried steering my wheel to get back in lane, but the steering wheel got so stiff that even using all my might I could not steer it. Eventually the car slammed against the cement wall three times as it spins. At the end, the police came on site and saw that the two front wheels were pulled inward. I purchased a new 2023 Tesla Model Y long range Dual motor AWD in September 2023. On March 20, 2024, while I was parking my car in parking lot of strip mall, I somehow became confused and panic. I unintentionally pressed the accelerator with some force which resulted in movement of car in speed and it hit a structure. The car failed to apply the emergency breaks before collision and hit the glass wall of a structure (dining room beside footpath) with great force and break the glass wall. Even then it did not stop after passing through the glass wall. I then turned the car on the foot path beside main boulevard road and then applied the break to stop the car. Front of the car, windshield and battery was badly damaged. The car was latter shifted to Tesla collision center. Battery damage was irreparable and needed replacement. Since the estimate sent by Tesla collision center to Insurance was very high, the Insurance decided to totaled the car. Although nobody was hit by the car and I was also safe, It could have severely injured other person or I could have severely injured if I was not able to stop the car before another collision with fast moving cars on the boulevard. This was a "complete failure of application of Emergency Brake" before the collision - important safety feature to save a life. Please report this to Tesla and send me the feed back. I do not know whether I will get compensation from Tesla for this technical fault as it put my life in danger and there was financial loss.

Potential Consequences:

I was driving from Asheville NC to Maryland on [XXX] using auto pilot driving 74 on 70 speed limit on the left lane of two lane highway and all of sudden the Tesla slam on the break to speed of 15-20 miles. There was a car on the right shoulder trying to merge to the right lane about 20 ft in front of us when this happened. My wife and daughter were in the car and we were all shocked on what happened. The software erroneously detects oncoming vehicle shadow as an object and suddenly breaks. This has not been the issue with their Full Self driving software. Tesla knowingly has a safer, more advance software, but decided to not release them to the general public without purchase. Big safety issue.
