SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

Last week this took place: 2019 Ram 3500 Dual rear wheels AISON transmistion is outfitted with factory trailer brake module. Was hauling a horse trailer near 30,000 lbs to a horse show, caravaning with crew pulling a second horse trailer about the same weight with a 2020 Ram 3500 (Vin #3C63RRNL7LG242818 (see separate complaint)) . All connections checked before departure. ABS warning light went on a few days before then disappeared. When braking, no trailer brakes engaged. Then checked hand paddles on the factory trailer brake module and the hand paddles activated the trailer brakes. Took it into the dealership to check codes and they said none appeared or were somehow reset.

Potential Consequences:

Traveling approximately 65 mph when tonneau cover blew off. Luckily no one was behind me so no accident occurred. Appears that wind got under a corner of the cover and put pressing on the locking handles. The rear two handles snapped off and we’re still in the bed of the truck when the cover blew off. I saw online that this has happened to other people. I’m not sure the name of the tonneau cover but it is OEM from Ram.

STEERING

Potential Consequences:

I was driving on the highway north from Lawton Oklahoma to Oklahoma City Oklahoma when my truck steering wheel abruptly began to violently shake and the truck dart to the right. I slowed to about 5 miles per hour and the truck began to bounce, left to right. I took the truck to a ram dealer and was informed the the driver side front tire needed immediate replacement. My truck has 12,500. miles on the odometer at the time of the incident. After dealer I took the truck to a tire shop (listened to how Nexen tires are poorly constructed). I also researched the exact tire on my truck further and learned that treat separation happens without notice. I also spoke with a friend who owns a similar ram and learned he had already replace his tires for the same issue. Low mileage in his example as well. I save both front tires for inspection if anyone is interested. These tires are clearly unsafe!

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

The component that failed in my 2019 Dodge Ram 3500 is the fuel system. The warning light that came across my screen indicated that it was the "exhaust". The vehicle abruptly went from 75 miles an hour to 25 mph to eventually stalling. At the time there was no engine light that illuminated my screen; It simply stated service exhaust. My safety and others around me were put at risk due to the sudden breakdown while traveling on a highway through the rocky mountains. I was fortunate enough to act quickly to avoid any possible danger to myself and others around me by quickly maneuvering my vehicle to the shoulder of the highway. Yes, a Dodge mechanic found fault in the fuel system, I have paperwork that indicates the malfunction with the vehicle's fuel system. The mechanic found metal shavings in my fuel filters replaced them and told me I was good to proceed on my route. He asserted that since the metal shavings didn't go past my fuel filters I have nothing to worry about. He also stated there's no remedy at this moment to fix the problem. The manufacturer hasn't taken action to fix their own recall. I am at a loss, my vehicle has sat at the dealership since April 12th, 2022.
