Defect Description:

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

Going thru neighborhood stop signs, stopped at the first one and when i tried to take off I noticed the gas pedal wasn't accelerating vehicle like normal/ felt like a transmission slipping issue, but it finally "hooked up" and surged forward 100 feet to next stop sign, and after i stopped I hit gas pedal again only to stall out and roll thru the intersection. Brakes were almost unresponsive, and rolled about 60 seconds until truck finally shifted into park on its own and applied emergency brake. After the truck got to a complete stop, it started back up and drove fine the final 2 minutes of the drive home. No warnings/ check engine lights/ malfunction messages were displayed, no obvious signs of issues. 1. The malfunctioning component would be the motor, as it stalled out for seemingly no reason. But issue could be incorrect supply (voltage/ fuel/ air/) so something like the (fuel pump/ alternator/ control modules) could be actual culprit why truck stalled out 2. The safety of me and my passengers was at risk because we stalled out in the middle of an intersection, had it been a stop sign on a road with flowing traffic moving above 25 mph, an accident would most certainly be a good possibility. 3. The problem hasn't been reproduced by dealer or mechanic. Research into this topic yields countless similar issues with similar year and models by Ram. 4. No, vehicle want inspected by anyone but myself. This occurred in a small neighborhood with little to no traffic and no accident resulted from the truck shutting off. 5. Only symptom was a few seconds earlier, where from a complete stop it felt like the gas pedal wasn't responding at all, low rpm and almost stalling, then all the sudden the transmission "slipped" into gear and surged forward. The next stop sign 100 feet ahead is where the truck stalled and wouldn't start for a minute as i rolled uncontrollably thru the intersection, and it finally hard shifted into park and applied e-brake

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

3. POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

On more than five occasions, the engine shut off without warning and the emergency brake and battery light came on. All instances occurred when I was slowing down at a stop sign or attempting to turn. I have taken my truck to at least 3 differend dealerships regarding the issues. The Horne dealership in Show Low, AZ, connected a code reader and stated it could be the eco battery system and if I drove the truck more it would most likely recharge on its own. They further stated it was a low etorque battery system malfunction. No paperwork was initiated. The Jim Marsh dealership in Las Vegas, stated they knew what the probem was and it would be 10 days to get the part in to make the repair. They gave me a rental car under my Mopar warranty and sent me on my way as I was out of state. The next day they called me and stated it was fixed and put in a new standard battery (which I paid for) and not the etorque battery. One month later the same thing occurred. The engine shut off again without warning. I'm in the process of taking it back to my local dealership.

Towards the end of the summer of 2024 I received a recall notice #79B, rearview camera visibility. I brought my vehicle to Rockland CJD in Nanuet in September 2024, I was informed at that time that there was not a repair to correct the situation. I have since received another recall notice #97A also rearview camera visibility. I brought my vehicle to Rockland CJD today 04/10/2025 for service and to resolve the recall. I have been told that neither recall could be found through searching up the VIN. My vehicle is experiencing the problems described in the notice, blue screen or no display when shifted in reverse. I would like to be able to have this situation taken care of.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

On two separate occasions the engine shut off at low speeds and the emergency brake engaged. On both occasions there was no warning of any kind. The car restarted and ran fine until shortly after the first two instances a "low voltage" light illuminated prompting me to research and learn that the shut off problem is well known. I took it to the dealer who confirmed the issue and assured me it was fixed with a software update. Two weeks after the "repair" I was driving at highway speeds and the "low voltage" light illuminated and the car shut off and the emergency brake engaged. After I managed to get off the road it would not restart. It was towed to the dealership who kept it for 2 1/2 months. This time they replaced the MGU. I picked it up and less than a week later the "check engine" light illuminated. I returned it to the dealership who confirmed it's the same issue. To date the manufacturer is unwilling to acknowledge the problem or help. I was informed today that it was "fixed" (this time "battery pack") but I'm afraid to drive it after my life was placed in danger after two "fixes". It has been in their possession for over 3 months and it would be illogical to believe they understand the root cause and that the issue is truly fixed. I will not drive it until I'm assured it is safe as I don't want to put myself or other lives in danger. They appear to be guessing at the cause and at best replacing parts with the same flawed parts into the same flawed design and are unwilling to accept responsibility. This vehicle is dangerous.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

We purchased this truck in 2022 brand new from the dealership. It has had electrical issues intermittently that has caused it to cycle through 3 batteries already. The truck will fail to start. The worst, most unsafe incident, happened when the truck completely shut down on the freeway. Every indicator light came on the dash and one by one the features of the truck started shutting down. First power steering. Then stability control. Followed by every feature that needs electricity until the truck shut off on the freeway and was unresponsive. We are finding online that people are having this issue with the Ram 1500 specifically equipped with the e-torque option (which is what we have). We have taken the truck into the dealership 3 times, each time they have simply said it was a battery issue and were unable to diagnose a bigger problem. At one point they had the vehicle for more than 30 days. This is my wife's vehicle. We have 3 kids. The safety of my family is at risk every time the vehicle doesn't start when we need it to and certainly when the truck shuts down in the middle of the freeway. It's dangerous. And we know it is not a "battery issue"

Corrective Action:

We purchased this truck in 2022 brand new from the dealership. It has had electrical issues intermittently that has caused it to cycle through 3 batteries already. The truck will fail to start. The worst, most unsafe incident, happened when the truck completely shut down on the freeway. Every indicator light came on the dash and one by one the features of the truck started shutting down. First power steering. Then stability control. Followed by every feature that needs electricity until the truck shut off on the freeway and was unresponsive. Potential Consequences:

When giving the vehicle gas after a stop sign. The vehicle threw itself into emergency break and shut off in the middle of an intersection. Had to turn off the emergency brake and restart the vehicle. This has happened multiple times. The vehicle almost stalls consistently after coming out of a stop sign or making a slow right turn.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

Wipers come on for now reason, no rain and not activated by driver. Interior screen goes black sometimes when backing up. After stopping for a traffic light then taking off, the transmission shifts to neutral. The only way to reengage the transmission is to come to a complete stop, put it in park and then back into drive. I have been to the dealer many times and they say unless it happens while in their care, there is nothing they can do. No codes come up. I gave them the day and time it last happened, thinking it must be stored in the computer and they would be able to track it down. Nope. This is a very dangerous problem. The truck also ran out of fuel when the gauge read 19 miles to go. I took it to the dealer and told them it must be a sensor, sender or gauge....says this is normal. Well that is not normal, if you ask me.
