These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
Potential Consequences:
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY FEEDER ROAD, AND THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME MADE AN EMERGENCY STOP. I SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES, AND SWERVED INTO THE LANE TO THE RIGHT OF ME. A CAR WAS COMING UP IN THAT LANE AT HIGH SPEED SO I HIT THE ACCELERATOR TO GET OUT OF THE WAY, AND THE TRUCK ACCELERATED AT FULL POWER. I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR, BUT THE PEDAL STAYED ON THE FLOOR AND THE TRUCK KEPT ACCELERATING. I THEN SWITCHED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND HAD TO USE MAXIMUM BRAKING FORCE TO KEEP THE TRUCK FROM FURTHER ACCELERATING INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME.
