Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

The manufacturer was contacted and informed about sending an inspector to assess the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.

Corrective Action:

The contact owned a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 30 MPH, a Kia Forte ran a red light traveling at approximately 70 MPH, T-boned/crashed on the passenger side, which pushed the vehicle into oncoming traffic, and a Toyota Tundra crashed into the front of the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. There was no reported fire. A police report was filed. The front airbags did not deploy. The curtain airbag deployed. POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

Yes, a failing EGR cooler can indirectly affect the exhaust pressure control valve by disrupting the normal exhaust gas flow, potentially causing the valve to operate outside its intended parameters due to abnormal pressure fluctuations in the exhaust manifold, leading to potential issues with engine performance and emissions control. Explanation: Pressure imbalances: When an EGR cooler fails, it can leak coolant into the exhaust system, which creates steam and disrupts the normal exhaust gas flow, leading to uneven pressure changes in the exhaust manifold. EGR valve response: The exhaust pressure control valve (often part of the EGR system) relies on a specific pressure differential to regulate the flow of exhaust gas back into the engine. If the pressure in the exhaust manifold is significantly altered due to a failing EGR cooler, the valve may not function optimally. Potential consequences: Reduced engine performance: Incorrect EGR flow due to pressure fluctuations can lead to reduced power and poor acceleration. Increased emissions: Improper EGR function can result in higher emissions levels. Check engine light: A failing EGR cooler often triggers a check engine light due to the engine's inability to maintain optimal operating parameters. Key points to remember: While an EGR cooler failure directly impacts the coolant system, its effects can cascade to affect the exhaust pressure control valve due to the altered exhaust gas dynamics. If you suspect an EGR cooler problem, it's crucial to have it inspected and repaired promptly to prevent further complications with other components like the exhaust pressure control valve. The information that is above details why when the EGR cooler was recalled by mopar and then fixed is most likely the reason that caused my sensor to fail. The dealership where the recall repairs are being done is trying to charge me almost $1500.00 dollars to replace them even though they are directly related to the recall. ( 19V-757)

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

While driving vehicle set to park and would not drive until I turned it off and back. Days later every time I set to reverse it automatically set V back to park and was not able to drive that evening. I have seen multiple issues on RAM forum so I took vehicle in for inspection and now have been told Transmission needs replacement although vehicle has less than 70,000 miles on it. Also dashboard lights all light up turned off and on problem seems electrical

The AC was stuck on hot and would not defrost. Dealership said the blend actuator door needed replacement. Unfortunately this cost is 1700. In addition to this, the fuel line or gas tank keep clicking and stopping when trying to fill. This has been intermittent since we purchased vehicle. In addition, our infotainment center was hacked, someone was changing our settings repeatedly. Dealership refused to fix

Potential Consequences:

The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while refueling the vehicle, the pump constantly shut-off independently before the tank was full. The contact was constantly squeezing the handle to continue refueling the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and acknowledged that the failure was a known issue; however, the contact was asked to take the vehicle in for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
