Defect Description:
POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
Was pulling in to a parking lot when the vehicle made a warning sound and then displayed "Check Engine" and "Service Shifter" messages on dash. The truck then would not shift in to any other gear but drive. it displayed that it was in park but stayed in gear and almost caused me to drive in to a pedestrian. The shift lights on the dash for the gears (P, N,R, D) all flashed randomly as if there was an electrical issue. Eventually I was able to set the brake, turn off the truck, restart it, and it finally changed gears. I took the vehicle to the dealer the next business day and they told me looking at the codes, that the shift module needs to be replaced. From what I have read online in forums this is an EXTREMELY common safety issue affecting the shifting/drivability of the vehicle. Per dealer, this is not related to the recall affecting the shifter on the vehicle. I contacted Ram care and they advised there was nothing they could do for me either. Total repair is going to be over $1,000 and I have no idea if this is even the issue or when it will happen again.

RAM has teamed with T Mobile to add cell access back to the Uconnect system. 2016 models work with 3G, which was phased out 1 JAN 2022. RAM sent me a T Mobile 4G adapter that plugs into the OBD2 port under the dash. When installed, the adapter sticks out at least 3 inches below the dash and interferes with brake and accelerator. Clearly this was a rush job and not thought thru. I have been unable to get any assistance from RAM regarding this. I've included a pic of this device installed. Defect Description:
SERVICE BRAKES
Potential Consequences:
On Tuesday January 4th 2022 I was driving my vehicle on interstate 10 at approximately 75 mph, as I was driving my vehicle lost all power and shut off leaving me with no brakes or power steering, I coasted to the off ramp. At which time I was coming up on an intersection where I attempted to apply my brakes to prevent me from rear ending several vehicles. My brakes did not engage properly my steering very stiff and hard to turn, I barley made it around the vehicles in front of me. I then coasted as far as the vehicle would go not being able to stop, leaving me in an active intersection right on the off ramp. I have contacted the manufacturer in regards to recall W58 which is the crankshaft position sensor and tone wheel which 85% of these trucks where recalled for. I was dismissed and told they would not speak with me again. After this I believe it is to my best interest to file a safety report with you guys!

Corrective Action:
On Tuesday January 4th 2022 I was driving my vehicle on interstate 10 at approximately 75 mph, as I was driving my vehicle lost all power and shut off leaving me with no brakes or power steering, I coasted to the off ramp. At which time I was coming up on an intersection where I attempted to apply my brakes to prevent me from rear ending several vehicles. My brakes did not engage properly my steering very stiff and hard to turn, I barley made it around the vehicles in front of me. Potential Consequences:
Hello, The safety problem is while driving the truck the fuel gauge needle drops to empty intermittently and a warning light flashes. Now not knowing how much fuel is in the tank is dangerous because running out of fuel especially on the highway will stall the engine followed by loss of brakes and steering. The dealer said its an electrical fuel sender resistor card inside the fuel tank that is shorting out, that alone scares me. Searching online I found out it's a common problem among 2016 Ram trucks. I will not let my family drive this truck until the electrical problem is fixed. Thanks for reading!

The Power Steering on my 2016 Ram 1500 is starting to act up. The Power Steering is tight when driving my vehicle especially when changing lanes, turning, and parking. I see that there was a recall for the 2015-2016 Ram trucks for Contamination on the electric power steering control circuit board. When I look for recalls on my vehicle there are none listed but my truck is showing all the same signs as this recall states. I have had my vehicle checked out by a licensed mechanic and he also stated that my truck is having the same issues that were listed in the recall. What can I do to have my vehicle repaired under the recall?

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
Fuel sensor has failed which appears to be a common problem with the 2016 Ram 1500, this is a very expensive fix for people on a fixed income for a part that has a history of failing. The dealer wants to charge in excess of $800.00 dollars for this repair installing the same part they know is going to fail in time. There are many blogs on the internet stating that the part fails at random miles. Imagine being out on the road and running out of gas in the middle of nowhere as you do not have the financial means to get this repaired. This part should be recalled and repaired as other parts are such as the air bag that might explode. This is very concerning for individuals that are paying for this repair. Thank you.

Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
A recent service on my RAM prompted a discussion with another customer and subsequently the service manager of the dealer. The topic was exhaust manifold leaks with the RAM 5.7 liter hemi engine. The dealership was repairing 2 that day and the service manager says that’s a typical day. The issue is that after 40,000 miles, one or more of the exhaust manifold bolts fatigue and fail which causes an exhaust leak. Of course and exhaust leak in the engine room is a huge safety risk for the exhaust gases can be drawn into the passenger compartment through the intakes just behind the hood. The leak also causes an emissions violation and can cause fuel economy performance issues. This issue affects models from 2008 to present. RAM has made a design change to fix the issue but has not issued a recall. I was told that it’s highly likely I will have the issue. I cannot believe a recall has not been required. Exhaust leaks are extremely dangerous.
