Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Nissan Altima, Armada, Frontier, Kicks, Leaf, Maxima, Murano, NV, NV200, Pathfinder, Rogue, Rogue Sport, Sentra, Titan, Titan Diesel, Versa Note and Versa Sedan vehicles, as well as Infiniti Q50, Q60, QX30 and QX80 vehicles. Additionally included are 2019 Nissan GT-R and Taxi and Infiniti QX50, QX60, Q70, Q70L vehicles. The back-up camera and display settings can be adjusted such that the rear view image is no longer visible and the system will retain that setting the next time the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Potential Consequences:
THE EMERGENCY BRAKING ENGAGES WITHOUT REASON. THIS HAS LED TO 2 NEAR MISSES. ONCE THE CAR JUST STOPPED IN THE ROAD. I THIOUGHT IT MIGHT HAVE MISINTERPRETED A SNOW PILE. THEN, DRIVING OVER A TRAIN CROSSING, THE CAR JUST STOPPED. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET IT MOVING BEFORE A TRAIN CAME. VERY SCARY! WHEN I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THEY WERE NOT VERY CONCERNED. THEY THOUGHT THERE WOULD BE A SOFTWARE FIX IN A FEW WEEKS AND I SHOULD JUST SHUT OFF THE EMERGENCY BRAKING FEATURE UNTIL THEN! Potential Consequences:
TL* THE CONTACT LEASED A 2018 NISSAN ROGUE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THERE WAS NO WARNING MESSAGE DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FUCCILLO NISSAN (3893 NY-31, LIVERPOOL, NY 13090, 315-944-3200) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER AND THE INDICATOR DIMMED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE PART WAS UNAVAILABLE AND WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A LOANER VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE.
