Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2020 Range Rover Evoque vehicles. The supplemental restraint system (SRS) warning light software is programmed incorrectly, which may cause the warning light to malfunction and intermittently illuminate.

Potential Risk:
An SRS system warning light that falsely illuminates could prevent the detection of an actual air bag system failure, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2020 Range Rover Evoque vehicles. The cushion cover on the left-side lower knee air bag may come loose, which could result in the cushion unfolding from the air bag module housing.

Potential Risk:
In the event of a crash, an unfolded knee air bag may not offer the driver full protection, increasing the risk for injury.

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2020 Range Rover Evoque vehicles equipped with climate specification front seats trimmed with "Dinamica" cloth. In the event of a fire, the seat material may burn quicker than allowed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 302, "Flammability of Interior Materials."

Potential Risk:
A seat cover that burns too quickly can increase the risk of injury in the event of a fire.
FREE Recall Solution:

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2020 Range Rover Evoque vehicles equipped with a replacement part for the right and/or left-side outer second-row seat belt assembly. These seat belt assemblies may not function properly in the event of a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) numbers 208, "Occupant Crash Protection" and 209, "Seat Belt Assemblies."

Potential Risk:
Seat belts that do not function properly can increase the risk of injury during a crash.

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2020 Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque vehicles. A software error may cause the instrument cluster to randomly alternate the speedometer and odometer units between Miles Per Hour (MPH) and Kilometers Per Hour (KM/H) without driver input to the display unit. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Control and Displays."

The changing displays may cause driver distraction or confusion and possibly result in excessive speed, which can increase the risk of a crash.

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque MHEV vehicles. The 48 volt electrical system may experience an overload event, causing a failure of the Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor (MOSFET) and result in a DCDC converter electrical short-circuit.

Potential Risk:
An electrical short-circuit increases the risk of a fire.

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2020 Range Rover Evoque non-PHEV vehicles equipped with 18-inch wheels. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) recommended pressure has been set incorrectly in the instrument cluster. As a result, the TPMS warning light will not illuminate when tire pressure reaches 25% below the cold inflation pressure stated on the tire placard. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems."

Potential Risk:
Drivers may unknowingly operate the vehicle with low tire pressure, negatively impacting vehicle handling and increasing the risk of a crash.

Potential Risk:
In the event of a crash necessitating the deployment of side curtain air bags, the metal plate could detach from the headliner and strike vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury.

Almost everyday since manufacture updated vehicle for previous recall and even before that I notice it’s worse. I constantly have to check if BSA is activated MANY times I almost hit another vehicle which thank goodness I have not yet let happen being adapted to looking in blind spot.

Potential Consequences:

My 2019-2020 Evoque is stalling when coming to a stop? This seems to happen at completely random intervals regardless of whether the auto start/stop is on or off. When the car stalls "Select Gear to Manuever" is displayed for about one second on the dash and the "D" flashes with a beeping tone. This has happened to over 20 times in less than 1000 miles! The ignition must be turned off and the car restarted in order to move again. I have seen Land Rover Forums describing a very similar issue. I have taken the vehicle in twice for repairs with no improvement.

The contact owns a 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the vehicle would suddenly jerk to the left or right without warning. The failure would cause the vehicle to go into another lane and the contact would have to aggressively steer the vehicle straight. The contact stated that the vehicle now failed to accelerate while attempting to accelerate from idle. The contact had to excessively depress the accelerator pedal for the vehicle to move forward. The failure was intermittent and there was no warning. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the contact was informed that there were several trouble codes retrieved. The dealer performed a software update and the failure occurred less frequently. The contact returned the vehicle to the dealer however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. Potential Consequences:

This is a recurring problem that I have had into Land Rover service for service and in November or early December 2020. JOn the previous service, I was told the vehicle needed a software update. The problem stopped but I think it was because (as I will explain later) that the weather turned cold. The problem at that time is the same problem I am experiencing now only now the car will stall periodically. This has now happened so often that I have observed a pattern. When starting to drive the car from start up or at a stop the car will slip out of gear and I will get a beeping noise and a message that states:"Engage gear before maneuvering." Sometimes the car will stay illuminated in drive mode but really be in neutral as it will rev but not move. In those cases I will shift into park and then back into drive and the car will move again. Recently the car will act the same way only stall out requiring me to restart the car and shift it into drive mode. This seems to happen most often when it is very hot outside and the car's auto start/stop function is on. During the winter months my secondary battery would be low on power and the auto start/stop function would not engage. During those times I do not recall experiencing this issue. In fact my main battery has been very low and required a trickle charge at home. This was illustrated by my hatch not opening or the car giving me a message prior to start up that the battery was low. Of course that was never a safety issue, the problem above is. Last night my wife and I were leaving were stopped at light on a 6 lane state highway. As I came to a stop in the center lane the car suddenly started beeping the engage gear message flashed and the car stalled. I tried as quickly as possible to re-start the car and put it into gear. Several maneuvered around us. One car almost hit us from behind and at a high rate of speed by swerved around us. This is clearly a highly unsafe and potentially deadly defect.

Corrective Action:

This is a recurring problem that I have had into Land Rover service for service and in November or early December 2020. JOn the previous service, I was told the vehicle needed a software update. The problem stopped but I think it was because (as I will explain later) that the weather turned cold. The problem at that time is the same problem I am experiencing now only now the car will stall periodically. This has now happened so often that I have observed a pattern. When starting to drive the car from start up or at a stop the car will slip out of gear and I will get a beeping noise and a message that states:"Engage gear before maneuvering." Sometimes the car will stay illuminated in drive mode but really be in neutral as it will rev but not move. In those cases I will shift into park and then back into drive and the car will move again. Recently the car will act the same way only stall out requiring me to restart the car and shift it into drive mode. This seems to happen most often when it is very hot outside and the car's auto start/stop function is on. During the winter months my secondary battery would be low on power and the auto start/stop function would not engage. During those times I do not recall experiencing this issue. In fact my main battery has been very low and required a trickle charge at home. This was illustrated by my hatch not opening or the car giving me a message prior to start up that the battery was low. Of course that was never a safety issue, the problem above is. A FEW MONTHS AGO, A MESSAGE OF "NO FAULT SUSPENSION DETECTED, DRIVE WITH CAUTION" APPEARED ON OUR DASH. BEFORE THEN WE WERE GETTING A MESSAGE OF LOW COOLANT. I THOUGHT THIS WAS WEIRD BECAUSE WE HAD THE CAR FOR ONLY A LITTLE OVER A YEAR. WE TOOK IT TO OUR DEALER AND WE WERE TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. WE SCHEDULED A MAINTENANCE APPT TO HAVE THE SOFTWARE UPDATED. ALSO OUR CAR WOULDN'T START, I HAD TO PLACE MY KEY FOB UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL AS INDICATED ON THE DASH. I TOLD THE DEALER THIS TOO AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS A BATTERY THAT NEEDED TO BE CHANGED, OR WE NEED TO USE BOTH KEY FOBS INTERMITTENTLY. THEN YESTERDAY, WERE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF AND THE WIPERS WENT ON BY ITSELF. MY HUSBAND STARTED THE CAR UP AND WE DROVE OFF WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. WE STOPPED AT A PLACE TO PICK UP SOME FOOD AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. CAME BACK INTO THE CAR AND STARTED IT UP AGAIN. NO PROBLEMS THERE. BUT AS WE DROVE A FEW MILES AND CAME TO A STOP LIGHT AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION, THE CAR STALLED AND EVERYTHING SHUT OFF AGAIN. WE TRIED TO START IT UP AGAIN AND NOTHING. A MESSAGE CAME ON THAT SAID FORWARD ALERT NOT TO DRIVE OVER 50MPH. THEN A GEAR BOX SHOWED ON THE DASH SAYING SOMETHING ABOUT THE GEAR BOX. I WAITED A FEW SECONDS AGAIN AND THEN THE CAR STARTED TO MOVE FORWARD. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT BACK TO MY HOME. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED. THEY AGREED IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND RECOMMENDED I GET A TOW TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHICH I DID.

WE ARE AFRAID TO TAKE THE CAR ON LONG TRIPS OF OFF ROAD AND BE STRANDED SOMEWHERE.
