Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. Jeep and Dealers are failing to complete safety Recall NHTSA Recall Number24V-720. My vehicle was dropped off at the dealership ( Repair orders attached ) on Dec 11 for the recall . Jeep has launched the recall process which is a software update and a specific drive cycle. I have reasons to believe that the dealership did not properly followed the steps after the software updates. I have GPS logs to show. I had contacted Jeep support about that and I did not receive any positive help on this. Vehicle was sent out again on Jan 6th, but still I have no confidence that the steps were followed properly. Internet is flooded with how Jeep has poorly managed the recall process by over complicating the drive cycle and how dealers are negligent about the process. This is a safety recall and could cause fire/explosion and take lives. I strongly advise NHTSA to intervene and make JEEP/Dealers liable to ensure the process is followed.

I went to Crowley dealership in Bristol CT for the 95B recall fix. I do not believe it was done correctly as my jeep had not been driven at all. I have a picture of the mileage upon drop off and it matched the mileage at pickup. Jeep and Mopar are also not recognizing the recall as being fixed and still shows it as active. It was also strange that I received a call to come get a loaner vehicle as my Jeep would not be ready (drop off Sunday night, call received for rental Tuesday afternoon) and as I pulled into the parking lot, I received a voicemail my Jeep WAS in fact ready for pickup. I am worried this was done incorrectly and being [XXX] with other children / people constantly in my car, I am worried for our safety. ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

2 incidents of loss of power with the electric motor at high speed. The hybrid electric motor unexpectedly lost power at 75 mph on the highway, alongside other vehicles moving at the same speed. This sudden loss of power caused the vehicle to drop to 55 mph, and not go above that speed, risking a potential collision from behind. Driving at 55 mph on Texas highways with a speed limit of 75 mph is very dangerous. The second time was exactly like the first but at 60mph. It has not been able to be reproduced. it has been inspected several time by the dealership. There was no warning of any kind.

STEERING

Potential Consequences:

On October 27th, my Jeep started shaking violently as I was driving on the highway. I brought the Jeep to the dealership, they test drove it, and the mechanic did not experience the shaking so I was told “that’s just what Jeeps do”. I then researched Jeep shaking and found the Death Wobble is a common problem among Jeeps and there are several ways to fix it. I took my Jeep back to the dealership, they once again test drove it and could not replicate the wobble. They said I could leave it there and they could continue to drive it daily to find the problem, as they cannot fix it if the mechanic cannot experience the wobble. I don’t have another vehicle to drive and cannot leave my vehicle there indefinitely. They did an alignment, and sent me on my way. The jeep continues to violently wobble, today forcing me to pull off on the side of the highway. This is not safe, I feel terrified to drive it over 60 mph, and feel this is totally unacceptable to be told “this is what Jeeps do” and “this is just your vehicle”. I expect to feel safe in a $40,000 car I bought brand new last year.

Potential Consequences:

When cold, the vehicle will shift hard and/or delay shifting both causing the vehicle to jerk or lunge forward. This happens between 3 & 4 gear. One dealer was not able to recreate the issue and another was able to. No repairs were made as Stellantis stated because there are no service lights on they are no mechanical issues. The problem continues to get worse. This appears to be a common problem.

Manufacturer Recall Number95B NHTSA Recall Number24V-720 Recall StatusRecall Incomplete Summary In rare circumstances, a battery pack may contain cells with separator damage. Separator damage, combined with other complex interactions within the cells, may lead to a vehicle fire. Safety Risk A vehicle fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and/or injury to persons outside the vehicle, as well as property damage. Remedy FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected vehicles. Remedy is a software flash followed by a HV battery replacement if needed. ******* The above is the recall the was released in, i believe, October. I have been scared to drive the car since. I cant park it at my house because i only have driveway parking right next to my house. I am scared of this car. The recall fix is now available but all dealers within 40 miles either “dont have the fix”, “dont have any availability”, or “put you on a waiting list”. So after almost 3 months this deadly issue still is not fixed and cant be fixed.

Potential Consequences:

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Jeep 4xe: after coming to a complete stop or just slowing down and entering a lower gear, has a 1-2 second delay in the accelerator. Has caused tires to squeal when accelerator started to respond. Have almost caused accidents when becoming unresponsive as the vehicle will move forward but lose accelerator power. This happens infrequently and spontaneously which makes it impossible to plan for/ drive defensively against, cannot replicate or force it to happen. Vehicle can be inspected upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Vehicle will move forward after stopping, such as an intersection, and suddenly does not increase for 1-2 seconds making me a hazard to traffic. This happens maybe 1-3x a week and is impossible to replicate. Have been almost rear ended many times as no brake lights appear when this happens. Have almost been t-boned by oncoming traffic because of the delay. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Vehicle has had engine repaired and inspected by dealership. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No.

Defect Description:

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
