The wiring harness for the rearview camera and the center brake light may short circuit, which can disable the rearview camera image and center brake light. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 111, "Rear Visibility" and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Potential Consequences:
led headlights are not hot enough to keep snow melted off headlights. Jeep design has headlights in a recessed hole, so the snow sticks to headlights and does not blow off. The light is covered in snow and reduces visibility by 90%. This has been extremely dangerous as I have had to stop every mile to 2 miles to clean off manually in order to see. Why is this not a recall? This seems far more dangerous than many other recalls that I have seen. What can be done about this?

The dealership acknowledges the problem calling it "death wobble" and offered to install steering damper. Research has found that this problem has existed on Jeep Wranglers since approx. 2017. A class action suit resulted in Jeep being ordered to install steering dampers and extending warranty. The uncontrollable shaking steering wheel is a hazardous condition and deserves more attention. Presently, four weeks later, I am still waiting of dealership to receive the ordered part. If this is a persistent problem, and a hazard, why no recall?

I was going approximately 60 mph on MN Highway 100 S in the far right lane, driving with a half full tank of gas and <1% battery in “hybrid” mode, when suddenly and error message saying “service charging system” error appeared in red on the driver console and all engine acceleration stopped working. The vehicle then displayed a message to shift to P to start the engine. But it wouldn’t let me shift to P while going 50+ mph. I managed to coast to a relatively safe area on the shoulder of the highway with minimal disruption of traffic, bring the car to a full stop, and restart the engine. However if I had been in the far left lane of the highway instead of the far right, or in a section without a safe shoulder, this event could have been the start of a major accident, endangering myself and many others. The spontaneous total loss of driving power in the 4xe is an inexcusable public safety risk. I know there has been a previous recall for a different issue that also produced this effect. This issue must also be fixed.

I was going approximately 60 mph on MN Highway 100 S in the far right lane, driving with a half full tank of gas and <1% battery in “hybrid” mode, when suddenly and error message saying “service charging system” error appeared in red on the driver console and all engine acceleration stopped working. I managed to coast to a relatively safe area on the shoulder of the highway with minimal disruption of traffic, bring the car to a full stop, and restart the engine. The camber and caster is not adjustable and the tires were rotated once already and only have about 8700 miles on them. Th transmission literally fell into debris. I coasted off the highway and was able to make it into a parking lot, thankfully. Jeep was towed and repair of trans and flywheel took about 4-6 weeks. Around 6k later, trans went out again. I knew bc the transmission began slipping and the burning smell was back. As of, 10/16/23, my jeep is in again for a new transmission.
