Safety Issue:
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. The wiring harness for the rearview camera and the center brake light may short circuit, which can disable the rearview camera image and center brake light. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 111, "Rear Visibility" and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

THE FIRST TIME I EXPERIENCED MY STEERING LOCKING UP ON ME I WAS GOING THROUGH AN S CURVE ABOUT 15-20 MPH AND WHEN TURNED TO THE RIGHT MY STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY FELT AS IF IT WAS STUCK IN THAT POSITION ABOUT 30 DEGREES TO THE RIGHT OF CENTER. I HAD TO YANK THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT REALLY HARD IN ORDER FOR IT TO BREAK FREE FROM THAT LOCKED POSITION. THIS SCARED ME SO MUCH I DROVE MY JEEP STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP PROCEEDED TO CHECK FOR RECALLS OR TSB'S AND OTHER COMPUTER CHECKS AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. FROM THERE THEY TRIED TO REPLICATE THE STEERING PROBLEM BUT COULD NOT SO I WAS LEFT WITH NO ANSWERS. AFTER READING MANY POSTS OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE NEW JL MODEL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE I DECIDED TO LEAVE MY JEEP OUTSIDE IN THE COLD AND TEST DRIVE IT WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD. HAD THE ENTIRE FAMILY IN THE CAR COMING HOME FROM DINNER - DID NOT HIT ANY IRREGULAR BUMPS OR ANYTHING OUT OF THE NORM. WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ON A STRETCH WE DRIVE ALMOST DAILY AND OUT OF NOWHERE, JUST HITTING SOME "NORMAL" MICHIGAN ROAD BUMPS THE STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT END STARTED SHAKING. EXCESS PLAY IN STEERING WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT (AT ALL SPEEDS) AS WELL AS STEERING DRIFTS OR WANDERS WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT. NO ISSUES WHILE IN A TURN. NO PROBLEM WHILE HOLDING A STEADY TURN ON A FREEWAY OFF RAMP. I'VE HAD THE DEALER REPLACE THE TRACK BAR AS WELL AS INSTALL THE NEW STEERING DAMPER (UNDER RECALL).
