Safety Issue:
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. The wiring harness for the rearview camera and the center brake light may short circuit, which can disable the rearview camera image and center brake light. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 111, "Rear Visibility" and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

Potential Consequences:
VEHICLE IS UNDER RECALL W12/NHTSA 20V-124. FIAT/CHRYSLER (FCA) HAS BEEN STALLING US FOR QUITE A LONG TIME. THE CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE MAY BECOME OVERHEATED AND FRACTURE THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH CAN RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY, OR THE CAR GETTING FIRE.THE DEALER SAYS THAT CHRYSLER DOESN'T HAVE THE PART REQUIRED TO FIX THE CAR, AND FCA KEEPS ROUTING ME FROM ONE REPRESENTATIVE TO ANOTHER, BUT THEY WON'T EVEN SAY IF THEY HAVE THE PART. I HAVE BEEN MAKING PAYMENTS DILIGENTLY ON A CAR THAT CANNOT BE DRIVEN, AS THE STATEMENT ON THEIR OWN LETTER INFORMS THAT THE RECALL PERTAINS TO A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. FCA (JEEP CHRYSLER) HAS ISSUED A NOTIFICATION TO OWNERS VIA V88: "THE REAR QUARTER WINDOWS VERTICAL RETAINER ON YOUR VEHICLE MAY NOT BE PROPERLY INSTALLED TO THE DOOR RAIL AFTER REMOVAL. THIS CONDITION MAY CAUSE THE SOFT TOP REAR QUARTER WINDOW PANELS TO SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS." THIS VERY SITUATION ACTUALLY OCCURRED IN OUR VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEED (I.E. THE SPEED LIMIT) ON I95 IN VIRGINIA ON 3/3/20. WITHOUT ANY WARNING, THE REAR QUARTER PANEL BLEW OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY. THE NOISE WAS SO STARTLING, IT IS AMAZING THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO, NO OTHER MOTORIST WAS IMPACTED BY THE DISLODGED WINDOW (THIS TIME). HOWEVER, AS THIS WAS IN THE EVENING ON A HIGH-SPEED INTERSTATE, IT WAS NOT SAFE TO PULL OVER AND TRY TO RETRIEVE THE WINDOW FROM THE DRIVING LANES SO, WE ARE NOT CERTAIN THAT THE DISLODGED WINDOW DID NOT THEN PRESENT A POTENTIAL ROAD HAZARD TO OTHER MOTORISTS.
