Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2021-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles. The center stack upper display (DCSD) contains a transistor that may overheat and prevent the rearview camera image from displaying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Potential Risk:
A rearview image that does not display reduces the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers replaced the DCSD, free of charge. All affected vehicles have been repaired. Owner notification letters were mailed February 27, 2025. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 11C.

Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2021-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles. An improperly secured connector for the front seat side air bags (SAB) may prevent the air bags from deploying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 214, "Side Impact Protection."

Potential Risk:
An air bag that does not deploy during a crash increases the risk of injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers secured the connector, free of charge. All affected vehicles have been remedied. Owner notification letters were mailed December 17, 2024. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is B3B.

SUSPENSION

Potential Consequences:

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The contact stated that while diving at various speeds, there was an abnormally loud screeching sound while turning the steering wheel to the left or the right. The sound was intermittent at first but became a consistent failure over time. The failure also occurred while turning and while driving straight. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the driver’s side front suspension strut was leaking, and the lower control arm ball joints had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

"Randomly, and without warning, the instruments, gauges, and displays will switch into a language I do not speak or understand (Italian). Coinciding with the switch to Italian language, cluster and radio display settings revert back to default settings, auto door locks and paddle shifter becomes inoperative (with no menu to enable), pedestrian emergency brake (peb) lamp or forward collision warning (fcw) lamp turns on with no way to disable, units of measurement including speed, temperature, etc. all change, and many other random settings change as well. ***This is clearly a dangerous situation because of all the functions and gauges that change, and the fact it is difficult if not impossible to recover from this due to the language of the setting menus, and the complexity of discovering and navigating through all these changes. I have taken it to the dealer twice, and they say there is nothing they can do and to wait for a possible software update, but none has come and it has been over a year. When this happens, even if one is able to wade through all the settings menus and change setting back, some items cannot be reset (like the FCA off lamp). The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact turned off the vehicle. The contact restarted the vehicle and shifted into reverse(R) and the steering wheel seized. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle three times and after the third time, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with steering failure, and that the steering rack needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. I purchased my vehicle in Sept. 2022. Issues began Nov. 2024. At first my radio screen was glitching and at the same time my car did a software update, it reset all my settings and my AEB system was disabled and would not turn back on regardless of how many times I turned it back on. The dealer did a manuel software update, replaced my screen (I paid the $100 warranty deductible) and it fixed the problem. A month and a half later it happened again without the update and my screen again was glitching. All my settings were changed and my AEB system was disabled. Dealer did a manual reset and another month and a half it happened again. At this appointment I asked them we need to do something else. This is not working. They saw that my alternate battery was not holding power well and not fully sending power to my module which controlled my radio/navigations systems also my safety features on the car. I replaced both batteries at $820. I needed 2 modules replaced. I had the module for the radio/navigation and safety features replaced and I am still currently waiting the other module that controls WiFi connections.
