Incorrect instrument panel control module software can cause the instrument panel to not display critical information, such as engine oil pressure, speedometer, and gear selector position until the next ignition cycle. Additionally, it can prevent the rearview camera image from displaying. SUDDENLY, A LARGE SUV IN THE NEXT LANE TO MY LEFT VEERED INTO MY LANE. I TURNED THE WHEEL SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID A COLLISION, ALSO SIMILTANEOUSLY BRAKING JUST ENOUGH TO AVOID A COLLISION. I HAD MOVED APPROXIMATELY 1/2 A LANE TO THE RIGHT. I TURNED THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT TO COME BACK INTO MY LANE. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN VEERING TO THE RIGHT AND LEFT AS I WAS FIGHTING TO KEEP IT UNDER CONTROL. IN THE NEXT 10-15 SECONDS, THE VAN VEERED ALTERNATIVELY RIGHT AND LEFT ABOUT 5 TIMES EACH UNTIL IT STABILIZED. I WAS USING ALL OF MY STRENGTH TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FROM TAKING OFF ACROSS LANES OF TRAFFIC. I CALLED HONDA NORTH AMERICA AND WAS ESSENTIALLY DISMISSED AS I WAS TOLD TO JUST TURN OFF MY LANE MITIGATION SYSTEM, WITH NO EXPLANATION OR APPARANT CARE ABOUT WHAT I HAD GONE THROUGH. I WENT TO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS CONCERNED AND TOLD ME HE WOULD GET BACK TO ME.
