Safety Issue:
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Accord Sedan, Accord Hybrid, and 2019-2020 Insight vehicles. A software error may cause intermittent or continuous disruptions in communication between the Body Control Module (BCM) and other components. This may result in malfunctions of various systems such as the windshield wipers and defroster, rearview camera, exterior lights, audible warning of a stopped vehicle, and power window operation. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 103, "Windshield Defrosting and Defogging Systems" and number 111, "Rear Visibility" as well as FMVSS numbers 104, 108, 114, 118, and 305.

THERE APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE STEERING WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT, THE WILL SEEM TO LACK RESPONSE AND THE CAR WILL DRIFT TO THE RIGHT OR THE LEFT ONLY TO HAVE CONTROL REGAINED VIA A NOTCHY LIGHT JOLT OF THE WHEEL. THIS HAS ALSO BEEN DESCRIBED BY 2018-2020 ACCORD OWNERS AS A NOTCH AND/OR FLAT SPOT IN THE STEERING WHEN ON SMOOTH STRAIGHT HIGHWAY ROADS. I CONSISTENTLY HAVE THIS OCCUR WHEN DRIVING FOR MORE THSN 5 OR TEN MINUTES ON ANY OPEN ROAD. DOES NOT SEEM TO NOTICEABLE IN LOCAL DRIVING. I DO NOTICE THIS WITHIN 20-30 MINUTES OF DRIVING. NOTICED CEL LIGHT AND CONTINUED TO SLOW DOWN. I THOUGHT CAR WAS DRIFTING BUT THE RPMS STILL SHOWED ENGINE ON. GOT TO SAFETY APRON AND REALIZED CAR WAS IN LIMP MODE. MANAGED TO GET TO EXIT RAMP. THIS IS PRIMARILY A HIGHWAY ISSUE AT SPEEDS ABOVE 50MPH, BUT I EVEN FEEL THE NOTCHY STEERING ON SMOOTH SINGLE LANE COUNTRY ROADS THAT AT 40-50MPH.
